PROS + The campaign is far better than those of Gears 4 and 5 + One of the best visual showcases for Unreal Engine 5 + Gameplay changes add more depth to combat, since you can customize your weapons and gear + The story nails the portrayal of the Locust Horde's brutality and humanity's desperation in the face of this new enemy + The new weapons feel great to use + Bosses are tough and require strategy to defeat + The game now features open areas with secondary objectives and a map CONS - Solo play has some drawbacks, as the squad AI isn't as smart as it should be - There are some technical bugs that need fixing; one related to Frame Generation was patched today at launch - Open areas are much more demanding on performance than linear ones; I recommend enabling Frame Gen when playing in them Overall, it’s a great return for Gears, featuring its best campaign since the original trilogy, which, imo, is still better. I can't comment on multiplayer or Horde mode, as they were unavailable until today.

never trust these big companies anymore ik i wont be, already laying off employees after theyve made your 400M dollar game that doesn't even launch on launch lmao, i don't care if its fixed in the next hour they've already used degenerate marketing tactics setting today, Thursday before the weekend as the early access as opposed to the new full prices release on TUESDAY next week, actually unacceptable and deplorable behavior. the solo dev in their garage blows these corporate idiots out of the water and they wonder why.

Game is fun... just didn't justify its $100 price tag with its first impression at all. Id say it made a $75 impression at best... the call of duty multiplayer music bothered me, the characters standing like awkward npcs in the lobby bothered me, the menus are so wack and lack the aura of the games made in the 2000s. Gears of War used to command a space from the moment you turned it on. When I turned this game on, it felt like a product. All that atmosphere and grit with every frame and sound is a fraction of what it used to be. The game looks and plays amazing... like the lighting is insanely good but the lights don't react to physics and you cant shoot them out either... video games still not giving me what I want. Gonna refund. I might buy it on sale or something...

Game runs hot asf, feels clunky asf, feels like an old arcade game. I'm definitely refunding this gears 1, 2, 3, 4 all great, this one feels like ass. You can't queue for a specific game mode in versus and it's 90% of the time person carries something everyone protects while other team tries to get it. Horde mode is soooooo boring and uninteresting, someone goes down after point blanking a giant frog they rage quit immediately and you stuck with bots. In horde mode FPS drop when in a fight with 5 enemies wtf???? Gnasher feels like ass this game, it doesn't tell you on the death screen how much damage you did.... everything feels inconsistent and clunky. I hit onyx rank easily every time rank reset but this game I feel like im doing nothing like my bullets ain't registering or doing as much damage as the next guy. Hard pass on this one maybe if the deluxe edition was 40 bucks and base game was 20 I'd recommend it, but for 100$ it doesn't offer enough.

Yet again another disappointing Gears release with NO Execution game mode. NO matchmaking options at all for that matter. Forced to choose "Quick Play" ONLY with "Rolling playlists".... that's the dumbest sh*t ever. Game modes should be their own entity. Execution NEEDS to be its own entity. This is the main reason I Never played gears 5... "Let's go back to our roots" they said... Well your roots had Warzone, Execution, And Assassination....none of this 'quickplay only' rolling sh*t. Refunded...My 30 min of game time consisted of 10min of "Compiling shaders", 10min of tuning my settings, and spending 10 minutes trying to figure out where all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game modes are.....come to find out, there ARE NONE! LOL

Once the nostalgia wears off the negative reviews are gonna come in. Gnasher range is out of control for how far someone can 100 - 0 you with it. Console gets insane aim assistance that makes wall bang shotty-ing your ass done in the blink of an eye with no skill required to pull it off. The Siege mode is terrible, a bunch of separate squads all on one map to make your frames dip sporadically without any reason to work together with other squads. It's a snooze fest. Not worth it's asking price imo wait for the sale it'll be on by Christmas.

wait for a sale or just get it with gamepass... all these years and they manage to make a linebacker simulator.. no private lobbies.. no leaderboards... essentials in a pvp game.. they say the built it from the ground up... yes we can tell and its still being built should've launched this in early access.. pains me to write this review due to the fact gears of war is my favorite game since 2006,,, and of course i will continue to play this if not this what.. cod , fortnite, apex... just very unfortunate they put a 69 or 99 price tag on a unfinished game

Gears is BACK. The optimisation has had a big improvement from the beta. The game feels way smoother overall, I'm running on high/ultra settings at 1440p, DLSS - quality with a stable 60fps on a 8gb card. The story so far has also been incredibly gripping. I obviously wont spoil anything, but I'm completely invested already. The atmosphere, storytelling are all exactly how I'd hoped they would be. being a long time fan of gears and seeing where it all began is amazing. most importantly, the gun play feels great. (most of the time) IMO, the movement is probably the biggest change. It's noticeably slower, especially compared to something like Gears 5 and its crazy wall bouncing. this feels much closer to the movement of Gears 1 and 2. but honestly, it feels good for the most part. There are still moments where the movement can feel a little clunky, but generally I really like it. So far, its shaping up to be exactly what I wanted from a new Gears game. Great gunplay, incredible visuals, a great story, and movement that brings it closer to the feel of the original games, overall, I think this is up there with some of the best gears. granted I did not play as much gears 4 or 5 and my peak play time was with gears 1,2 3, judgement and reloaded. i do not think you are missing much if you do not buy the premium edition. but the game is worth the base price.

Do not buy this game, its good story wise and all that, but this game has ZERO optimization and on the best NVIDIA cards youll only get around 80-90 frames, this is straight UNREAL SLOP, do not buy unless they optimize the game to run on HDD's and reduce storage space down from 100 GBs cause Helldivers 2 looks better than this and its only 20 gigs? Yeah no thanks, if you bother reading this review, just know this game is not worth a single cent of your time unless your fine with a over bloated slop game that takes up everything on your SSD, if you bought Pre-orders and carry the same opinions as me, try and refund

Gears E-Day brings back the core feeling you got from the original Gears 1 to 3. It was a joy experiencing the shock of horror, suffering and gore again. I never cared for GoW's multiplayer but the singleplayer experience so far, during my first hour of gameplay, is nothing short of jaw-dropping. The Coalition (and whoever was involved in making this game) did an amazing work technically to bring out the atmosphere of Kalona City. The acting, gameplay, pacing, movement. It's all very well done. I'm not too onboard with the audio as it doesn't feel punchy enough but it does a good enough job. If you're the type who enjoys good single player experiences, this game hits it out of the park. Reminds me of the era when Gears and Halo were the main flagship franchises of Xbox, pushing technical and gameplay limits of a console generation. It's a breathe of fresh air in 2026. I can't say much about performance as my PC isn't exactly what most people use but from my experience, frame pacing and just general performance on every graphics setting is good. I don't advocate for any of the bad game industry corporate drama but what I can say is the end product is undeniably good, maybe steep on the price but good nonetheless.
