Far Cry 4 is definetly worth playing no matter what year. It has smooth gameplay, a decent weapon variety, nice graphics, a good story, Good replayablility, and overall is a great game. I've 100% finished the game and I must say I loved every moment of this game, and in my opinion the best far cry in the series. But i am biased on the matter - Far Cry 4's world really just sucks me in. The setting of being in a fictional Himalayan country based on the countries of Nepal and Bhutan is just awesome. We need more games based on Indo-Aryan and Tibeto-Burman cultures. And if the game were to ever have a remake - they need to add a option to be with the royal army like originally planned. (Pagan Min is hands down the most Likeable bad guy in the whole series). Anyways i think 9/10 is a good score for this game.

Honestly, this is just Far Cry 3 on severe steroids, and I’m completely fine with that. Everyone hypes up FC3 for the nostalgia, but mechanically, 4 improved on basically everything. The good: Kyrat is gorgeous and actually feels fun to explore. Pagan Min is a fantastic villain (wish he had even more screen time). The grappling hook and the buzzer completely fix the traversal issues from the last game. You can ride an elephant and crush your enemies. The tactical variety is insane—you can snipe, sneak in with a bow, drop grenades from a mini-copter, or just charge in on an elephant. You can also throw bait to lure wild animals onto enemies. The bad: The protagonist Ajay Ghale has the personality of a fence post with a face drawn on it that just says 'okay' to every terrible idea. The two rebel leaders you have to choose between are both absolute garbage human beings. It's trash vs garbage. Karma events popping up every 30 seconds while you're trying to do something else gets annoying. Royal Army heavy soldiers will eat three grenade launcher shots to the face and keep walking. Endless collectibles, repetitive side quests. Minor visual glitches occasionally break the immersion. Bottom line: Buy it on sale, ignore the map clutter, and just enjoy the scenic beauty of Kyrat while occasionally touching the main quest. 8.5/10.

Far Cry 4 wastes no time throwing you into the action. What begins as Ajay Ghale's simple journey to fulfill his mother's final wish quickly turns into a fight for survival in the middle of a civil war. Going into this after finishing Far Cry 3, I was impressed by how much the game builds upon what came before instead of simply repeating it. Kyrat is a fantastic setting that feels completely different from the tropical islands of the previous game, and that change of scenery helps make the experience feel fresh from the very beginning. The story does a great job of introducing its conflict early, and before long you're choosing sides, meeting memorable characters, and carving your own path through the country. The gameplay loop is still unmistakably Far Cry, but nearly every part of it has been expanded. There are more weapons to experiment with, new vehicles to drive, dangerous wildlife around every corner, and enemy encounters that keep exploration interesting. Liberating outposts, climbing bell towers, hunting for collectibles, and earning experience all return, but the addition of the Karma system and dynamic events across the map gives you more reasons to wander off the beaten path. It constantly feels like something is happening nearby, whether it's civilians needing help or enemy patrols creating unexpected firefights. It's a formula that remains incredibly addictive, and after dozens of hours I still found myself saying, "Just one more thing." I ended up spending around 40 hours with the game and enjoyed nearly every minute of it. The achievements are generally straightforward to earn, although a handful being locked behind DLC means I won't be chasing a full 100% completion. Thankfully, I also had none of the launcher frustrations I experienced with Far Cry 3. The game runs perfectly fine through Steam, while signing into Ubisoft Connect is entirely optional if you want a few extra rewards. Overall, Far Cry 4 feels like a natural evolution of the series—keeping everything that made its predecessor so enjoyable while adding enough new mechanics and a memorable setting to make it worth the journey. If this trend continues, I'm excited to see what Far Cry Primal has in store next. —The Ember Archives https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45601239/

Absolutely love this game and the many mechanics in it graphics are pretty good too considering how old the game is ,controller works great, only reason negative is selected is due to having to having to have the ubisoft account and online for a single player game , cant stand ubisoft intruding on my pc and having to be linked to them and ubisoft program running in background while playing. Apart from that its awesome

This game is another excellent entry in the series. Incredible villain, fun story, characters, gameplay...birds. Negative review because Ubisoft Connect did to PC gaming what HIV did to humanity.

Overall, I liked the game. Gameplay 9/10, Story 7/10, Graphics 9/10, Characters 7/10. For me, the story lacked depth and emotional weight. There were some cool and crazy moments, but overall it’s pretty generic. Still, it’s awesome that there are 4 different endings instead of just 2, so props for the replay value. Running around and exploring the world was a blast, so my overall rating is 8/10. Personally, I found it a bit better than the previous game :)

I was supposed to play and finish this game almost a decade ago when I had a console but I gave up. Finally years later with a PC, I've actually finished the game and the gameplay feels mostly the same as Far Cry 3 (with few changes) but the story was really great. One time I shot a cage to let the tiger out to attack the enemies, but for SOME reason, it decided to run and climb all the way up to the hill where I was hiding to attack ME instead, when there were ENEMIES RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE CAGE. BUT NOO APPARENTLY IT WANTS TO KILL SOME DUDE FAR AWAY IN A BUSH WITH A SNIPER ON A HILL. I WAS WELL HIDDEN TOO WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE TIGER MAN?

might get a mob after me but i much prefer far cry 4 over 3. pagan min is a very interesting character and i often think of him when writing characters in my own works. the world is beautiful and so are the graphics considering a 2014 release. the gameplay is fun and silly, in a good way. i tried to play far cry 5 a few times and it never clicked with me, it felt like a watered down experience than this. pick it up on sale !

Far Cry 4 is a pretty fun game, but it can get repetitive fast. If you’ve already played Far Cry 3, this is literally the same thing but with a different story. However, in my opinion, this is the best Far Cry game. The third one is good, but I personally like this one the most. Since it’s an older game, the controls feel a bit clunky, but they don’t ruin the experience. The game has main missions, side quests, and random activities all over the map. To be honest, even on the hardest difficulty, it’s not much of a challenge. The campaign isn't really my favorite, but it does its job, and the villain, Pagan Min, is actually pretty decent. It has a great variety of weapons, a huge map, and the hunting/crafting system is fun. Overall, I’d give it a 7/10. It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s a solid game. If you’re going for 100% completion, make sure you have a friend for the co-op trophies; also, you need 6 people for the multiplayer, which makes getting all the achievements kind of a pain. It’s not worth full price since it’s an old game. Your best bet is to wait for a good sale.

I've played all Far Cry games except for anything made before 3... And in 2026, this one is still worth playing. The graphics are still beautiful, the gameplay is more comparable to FC 3, (it changes a lot when you get to FC 5) and the story is actually really good in comparison to the newest. HOWEVER, Far Cry 5 and them playing New Dawn afterwards was on point. Those two combined in that order is fn mint. Is this game still worth it in 2026? Absolutely! Such a fun and challenging play. FYI, I played them backwards. 6, 5 (and new dawn), 4 then 3. I find the older Far Cry games to have a much more enjoyable storyline, though I do love 6 too, it was lacking. If you play in the same order as me, you may have a hard time getting used to the mechanics like crafting syringes and whatnot, but it's not a big change and you can adapt pretty quickly. 44 Hours in this game I think, I am just now finishing the main storyline. Of course you can rush it, but I enjoyed leveling up and taking over posts. I still plan to play until absolute completion if possible!

3 bugs in the first 5? 10? minutes of gameplay. First, the truck wouldn't leave in the starting mission. Had to reset checkpoint twice. Then, the gun under dash wouldn't spawn. Had to reset checkpoint again. Then, when the truck crashed, it stayed on music playing on a black screen for several minutes. I would love to play this game but it seems like it's going to just be headache after headache thanks to ubisoft just abandoning it. Playing on more than good enough hardware btw.

Masterpiece with Hindi Slangs GOODS Far Cry has always nailed the gameplay aspect with different traversals, skills and ofcourse a beautiful map. The core story of Far Cry 4 hides behind the disguises of 3 main characters - Sabal, Amita and Pagan. The clever writing unveils not 1 but 2 ugly truths as you progress through the game, which makes this a masterpiece Aside from main plot, you also get to experience brutality, betrayal, revenge and struggle. BADS You can't play campaign with your co-op friend which was a massive downside as I completed Far Cry 5 and 6 with friend and wanted to do the same here. I didn't purchase DLC as Far Cry series has been notorious to offer some of the laziest and grindy DLC. So, saved myself money and trouble skipped it. VERDICT This game is a solid 8.2/10 in my books only because the story was clever but slowly reveals true plot later which is great but has less impact compared to Far Cry 3 or 5. Highly recommended but pickup on sale as game is 12 years old now.

A really enjoyable entry with a great setting. Kyrat is a stunning open world to explore and Pagan Min is a memorable villain even if he's underused. The gameplay loop is as addictive as ever.

ABSOLUTE CINEMA. i bought this at sale and i played for 10 hours and decided maybe the game is not for me, but last week i browse through my library and saw this game sitting collecting dust and i thought okay maybe i will give you another shot and here i am, speechless of how absolute masterpiece of the game is. . One thing far cry does better is their villain, i played far cry 3 and vaas was absolute fun to watch and here FC4 pagan was phenomenal. The story was banger, the side characters had so much depth to them, the graphics and visual for that time period and it still holds now strongly, the world/map is beautiful (im planning to explore everything). The combat is so fun, either you can go full stealth or full gun blazing you are the king. the side quest like himalayan, shangri la, killing animals for skin etc were so unique and added lots of content to the existing gameplay. . overall i give this game 4.75/5, near perfect. i did encounter one shangri la quest bug where the game keeps crashing(solution: lower the graphic setting to low for that quest). I can see it being little repetitive but if you are only campaign and story mode playing person who dont care about other small missions, than you wont have that problem. with that being said. A HIDDEN GEM, game I will speak till the day i die.

Last great Far Cry game. Far Cry 4 has some improvements in gameplay compared to 3 making the gameplay feel better, but the story is slightly worse because the main character barely has any character developement still miles better than the newer Far Cry games. Funny how Jason in FC3 had such good character developement but in FC4 and other later games they just abandoned it. Main villain is really good and manages to make the story interesting the whole way through. Gameplay in this game is best in series in my opinion they improved what needed improving and thats it. Definetly worth playing.

I recently replayed Far Cry 4, and honestly, it’s still one of the most fun open-world shooters I’ve played. The game puts you in the shoes of Ajay Ghale, a guy returning to his homeland, Kyrat, which is basically a fictional version of Nepal. Things quickly go south when he gets caught in the middle of a civil war between rebels and a flamboyant dictator named Pagan Min. The world is absolutely stunning — snowy mountains, dense forests, small villages — it really feels alive. You can hunt animals, climb towers, or just drive around listening to local radio. It’s one of those games where you might start doing one mission and then get distracted for an hour by random side stuff. Combat feels great. There’s a huge variety of weapons and vehicles — even elephants you can ride into battle (which never gets old). The stealth system works nicely too; you can sneak around with a bow or just go full chaos with grenades and machine guns The story isn’t super deep, but it’s interesting enough. Pagan Min steals the show — he’s stylish, sarcastic, and a bit crazy, but in a fun way. The rebels, though, can feel a bit one-dimensional. Still, there are moments that make you think about morality and choices
