This game could have been more but the CEO decides to give huge bonuses to the top 1% off the initial success instead of reinvesting into an unprecedented success with a split vision between thee CEO and devs. it is a damn shame. they not only split the player base because of their indecisions and riding the fence but they also sold china rights to create their own only further dividing the dwindling player base and feeding us buggy content created by an overloaded dev team trying to keep up with unrealistic demands all while cheaters are running rampant killing off what player base is left.... over 1000 hours into it and i can say i got my money's worth BUT it is a shame to see it go this route...

ARC Raiders, much like The Finals before it, is a game fighting against itself. Embark has proven that they know how to make engaging worlds with satisfying gameplay, and they have that in spades. Where they seem to struggle is designing systems that don't actively push you away from engaging with the mechanics they've created. They did this in The Finals, creating a ton of interesting gameplay choices with its items, weapons, and classes, only to pair them with such aggressive matchmaking that even in unranked modes, you'd be hard-pressed to use anything but the most optimal combinations. In ARC Raiders, they've fallen into a similar design trap. The world is incredible, the gameplay loop is fun, and the ARC themselves are some of the more interesting enemies I've seen in quite some time. Upon release, the game was lauded for having a PvPvE environment where the E part is fun, unlike say Scavs from Tarkov. So what's the issue? To put it plainly, there often isn't much reason to engage with the PvE. Bosses require significant amounts of ammunition, healing, durability, time, and often some of your best gear. But because this is a PvPvE game, you have another option: wait for someone else to start fighting the boss, then kill them and take their weapons and loot, often a better return than just killing the boss in the first place. So why go through a difficult, lengthy boss fight when you can use third-person peeking (yes, in a PvP game) to get the drop on someone who's already half-dead and has spent all of their resources doing the difficult part for you? Once again, Embark has created a gameplay loop in which the game's design actively discourages you from participating in the content they've built. The problem isn't that PvP exists, it's that the incentives make exploiting someone else's engagement with the PvE more attractive than engaging with it yourself. Because you're discouraged from engaging with the exceptional PvE gameplay in favor of the mediocre PvP gameplay (again, third-person peeking), the game ends up being less than the sum of its parts. PvPvE is a balancing act, and it's one that ARC just can't seem to get right. Embark really knows how to make a game at their core. I just hope they eventually stop shooting themselves in the foot before this one dies completely.

ARC Raiders has an incredible amount of potential, but right now the game is being seriously damaged by cheating, exploits, and the overall PvP experience. The game feels completely infested with wallhackers, cheaters, exploiters, dupers, and players who abuse every possible advantage they can find. It is becoming harder and harder for legitimate players to enjoy the game when they constantly have to wonder whether the person who killed them was actually better or simply using cheats. The developers need to take a much stronger and more aggressive stance against cheating. We desperately need a reliable and powerful anti-cheat system, better detection, faster investigations, and much harsher punishments for confirmed cheaters and exploiters. Temporary bans are not enough if the same players can simply return and continue ruining matches. Cheaters should face serious consequences, including permanent bans when they are caught. Cheating doesn't just affect the person who gets killed. It affects the entire player base. Every legitimate player who gets repeatedly killed by a wallhacker or exploited out of their loot eventually becomes frustrated and may stop playing altogether. Once players lose trust in the fairness of the game, it is extremely difficult to get them back. On top of that, ARC Raiders desperately needs a proper dedicated PvE mode with NO PvP interruptions. Give us a friendly PvE-only lobby where players can focus on fighting ARC machines, exploring the maps, completing objectives, collecting resources, farming loot, testing weapons, and enjoying the world without constantly worrying about another player hiding somewhere waiting to shoot them in the back. A dedicated PvE mode would not have to replace PvP. Keep the existing PvP extraction experience for players who enjoy that style of gameplay, but give PvE-focused players a legitimate alternative. There are many players who genuinely enjoy the PvE side of ARC Raiders—the robots, Queens, exploration, looting, missions, builds, and progression—but don't enjoy being forced into PvP encounters every time they enter a match. Right now, PvP can feel extremely frustrating, especially when you combine aggressive players, rats, exploits, and suspected cheaters. A PvE-only mode would give players another reason to keep playing and could help retain people who are currently getting burned out by the PvP environment. ARC Raiders has a fantastic foundation. The atmosphere, world design, ARC machines, gunplay, movement, looting, and extraction gameplay all have huge potential. But the developers need to protect that potential before the problems become even bigger. Please listen to the community. Improve the anti-cheat system, take cheating and exploiting much more seriously, punish repeat offenders permanently, and seriously consider introducing a dedicated PvE mode with no PvP interference. The player base is already showing signs of dropping, and if legitimate players continue leaving because they feel the game is unfair or unenjoyable, that decline will only accelerate. Don't wait until the community becomes too small to recover. We want ARC Raiders to succeed. We want to keep playing. We want to support the game. But we need to feel that our time, progression, and effort are respected. Please take action before it's too late. ARC Raiders has the potential to be an incredible long-term game, but the developers need to address these issues NOW.

From Addictive to Completely Stale – They’ve Ruined What Made ARC Raiders Special This game used to be brilliant. Genuinely addictive. I absolutely loved the mix of PvP and PvE, the challenges, the tension of extracting, building up your gear and never quite knowing what was going to happen when you dropped into a raid. It had something special. Unfortunately, that game feels like it has disappeared. ARC Raiders has gone downhill so badly that I honestly struggle to recommend it anymore. Lobbies feel emptier, matchmaking can take forever, and cheating has become so common that some sessions feel virtually pointless. Whether it’s a lack of enforcement or simply not enough being done, from a player's perspective it feels like Embark has completely lost control of it. Then there’s the gear system. They keep talking about reducing “gear fear”, but instead they’ve gone so far the other way that gear barely means anything anymore. Free kits everywhere, completely mismatched loadouts and very little sense of progression or achievement. At the same time, actually grinding for the materials you need can be painfully slow. It somehow manages to make gear feel both worthless and tedious to obtain. The bigger problem is that the game has completely lost its identity. Embark seems determined to please every possible type of player, and in doing so they’re pleasing nobody. ARC Raiders cannot survive pretending it is some deep PvE experience. It isn't. There isn't enough story, meaningful mission progression or endgame PvE content for that. You aren't working towards some huge conclusion. There isn't a compelling campaign. You're essentially repeating the same loop over and over again. The PvP is what gave that loop its excitement. So where are the clans? Where is the meaningful competitive progression? Where are the systems that give long-term players a reason to keep logging in? Where is the evolving endgame? Instead, we seem to keep getting slightly different versions of the same content. And from what I've heard about the October update, it sounds like more of exactly the same. More content layered onto a fundamentally stale gameplay loop isn't going to fix the problem. One of the most frustrating things is that players have repeatedly asked for a proper PvE option where they could gear up, gather materials and then take that equipment back into the main game. Apparently that couldn't be done — yet a PvE implementation can be considered for the Chinese market. That tells you everything about how disconnected the direction of this game has become from the community that actually supported it. Whoever is ultimately directing ARC Raiders needs to seriously reconsider what this game is supposed to be, because right now it genuinely feels like the people making the big decisions either don't play their own game or simply aren't listening to the people who do. A year ago, I would have recommended ARC Raiders without hesitation. Today? Don't waste your money. There are better games competing for your time, and ARC Raiders currently gives you very little reason to keep coming back. The gameplay loop is stale, cheating destroys far too many matches, progression feels increasingly meaningless and the game has no clear long-term identity. To take something that had this much potential, this much atmosphere and such an addictive core gameplay loop and drop the ball this badly is genuinely impressive. Embark had the magic. Well done for ruining it.

PvP.

**187 Hours Played | Recommended? Not Right Now.** I have 187 hours in ARC Raiders after buying it on June 12, 2026. I didn't casually play this game—I no-lifed it because I genuinely believed it had the potential to become my next 1,000-hour game. That's what makes this review so frustrating to write. At its core, ARC Raiders is one of the most immersive extraction shooters I've played. Think Escape from Tarkov with a bit of Destiny and Helldivers mixed in. The gunplay is phenomenal, movement feels smooth and responsive, the lore is interesting, the AI is challenging without feeling unfair once you learn the mechanics, and discovering new blueprints and crafting equipment is incredibly satisfying. The maps are well designed, dynamic world events keep raids fresh, and most of the community is surprisingly friendly and cooperative. The foundation of this game is outstanding. Unfortunately, the developers keep getting in the way of their own game. The biggest issue is matchmaking. Recent changes completely destroyed what made the community special. Friendly players, cooperative players, and backstabbing "rats" now feel like they're thrown into the same matchmaking pool. Instead of rewarding cooperation, the game constantly rewards betrayal. I went from being ratted a handful of times over my first 170+ hours to getting betrayed nearly every other match after the latest update. It's exhausting and completely changes the atmosphere of the game. Unlimited free kits make this even worse. They allow players to risk absolutely nothing while killing fully geared players who spent hours earning their equipment. They show up at endgame events, wait for everyone else to do the hard work, then shoot people in the back and walk away with the rewards. The developers tried to address this by banning free kits from night raids, but that simply pushed the problem into every other mode instead of fixing it. Beyond matchmaking, the game is filled with frustrating quality-of-life problems. Inventory management is honestly one of the worst I've experienced. I have easily spent 20-40 of my 187 hours just organizing my stash because there isn't enough storage space, there are too many crafting materials to keep track of, no item locking system to prevent accidental selling or recycling, and no bulk recycling or selling options. These are basic features that should already exist. Technical issues don't help either. I encounter game-breaking bugs almost daily, from ADS glitches requiring a full restart to visual, audio, and gameplay bugs. Network performance is also surprisingly poor. My friends and I all have solid internet connections, yet we constantly experience lag, rubberbanding, and connection issues. Balancing is another recurring frustration. Instead of bringing weaker weapons up, the developers repeatedly nerf everything else. Attachments often come with bizarre durability penalties that make little sense, and weapon durability itself feels overly punishing for some guns. Another baffling design choice is joining raids that are already 10-15 minutes in progress. The best loot has already been taken, objectives are already completed, and you're left running across an empty map hoping to salvage something. At one point I had 12 raids in a row where I spawned into matches that were already halfway over. What hurts most is that none of these problems come from the core gameplay. The actual gameplay is fantastic. The shooting, movement, atmosphere, PvE encounters, exploration, progression, and world design are all excellent. The frustration comes almost entirely from avoidable design decisions and updates that consistently seem to create bigger problems than they solve. I wanted this to be my next 1,000-hour game. Instead, after 187 hours, I'm stepping away until the matchmaking, free kit system, and overall balance are seriously reworked. ARC Raiders has lightning in a bottle. It just feels like every major update moves it further away from what made it special in the first place. **Verdict:** Incredible foundation. Frustrating execution. I'll happily come back if these systems are fixed, but in its current state I can't recommend it.

Arc Raiders launched with something genuinely special: a fun and interesting world that felt worth exploring. The ARC were unknown, clever, and dangerous. They presented problems that required some thought before approaching them, and part of the fun was learning how they operated. PvP wasn't initially the sole focus either. A lot of people seemed genuinely excited to explore the world and help each other survive, which created some really memorable encounters. The players who did decide to go looking for fights were often outnumbered and dealt with accordingly. For a while, the game felt like an actual adventure. Then we learned everything. Once you understood how each ARC worked, they stopped being particularly threatening. Most of them became predictable, especially one-on-one. The ARC went from being something you had to think about to being another obstacle you knew exactly how to deal with. With the ARC becoming a minor threat, the game gradually turned into a massive grind for loot. And the loot itself became incredibly stale. Eventually, most matches stopped being about exploring or scavenging and became a rush to specific locations to get whatever targeted materials you needed for your next Project or upgrade as quickly as possible. Then came the blueprint system, which completely destroyed what I thought was one of the core ideas behind the game. Scavenging and looting should be the reason you enter a match. Instead, blueprints turned the game into a speed-running exercise where everyone races to specific containers hoping for a particular item. You can walk into room after room and find containers already opened and stripped of anything valuable, with the garbage left behind. At that point, you're not really scavenging anymore. You're just farming a loot table. The blueprint system feels archaic and lazy, and it actively works against the original appeal of Arc Raiders. The other major change has been the player base. The "friendly" system has been completely abused by players whose only objective is to get into friendly lobbies, gear themselves up, and kill people who trust them. But only when those players are alone. That's where the term "rat" really comes into play. These are some of the worst people online gaming has to offer: act friendly until you see an opportunity to stab someone in the back, but only when you're certain there's no risk. Then suddenly you're friendly again when you need to escape with the gear you were too lazy to acquire yourself. The problem isn't that PvP exists. PvP was always part of the game. The problem is that the game has gradually lost the sense of wonder and cooperation that made those interactions interesting in the first place. Gone are the days when you could encounter an entire lobby that would team up and run around killing ARC together just because it was fun. Now it feels like most people have simply been playing for too long, and the game has devolved into optimization. And unfortunately, the ARC themselves haven't really evolved in a way that improves this. Instead of introducing machines that are interesting to fight and reward you for understanding their behavior, new ARC often feel like increasingly annoying, heavily armored versions of the things we already know how to kill. Comets are basically a larger, more annoying version of a Pop. They don't add much to the game beyond creating another problem that you often can't realistically deal with unless you're properly geared for it. Heavy armor, ridiculous speed, and an enormous AoE explosion make them miserable to fight if you're not prepared. And if you're caught in the open? Good luck. The "strategy" often boils down to baiting them toward you, hiding behind a wall, and waiting for them to explode. That's not an interesting encounter. That's cheesing an enemy because the alternative is simply eating unavoidable damage. Fireflies are another example. They're more heavily armored, more aggressive, and constantly dealing damage while flying alongside Hornets and Wasps. Their flames obscure your vision, they don't offer particularly satisfying weak points, and even their exposed fuel tank takes multiple shots to destroy. The propellers are technically a target, but they're even harder to hit than the weak points on the Hornets and Wasps. It's difficulty for the sake of annoyance. The Vaporizer, on the other hand, is one of the better examples of how new ARC should be designed. It's incredibly powerful, but actually fun to fight. Its shield creates an opportunity because it can't attack you while it's active. You can reposition, find better cover, bait out an opening, and then punish the weak point. It's dangerous without simply being a massive bullet sponge. That's the difference. The problem isn't that ARC are difficult. The problem is when difficulty comes from armor, damage, speed, and inflated health rather than interesting mechanics. And the recent events have only amplified the worst parts of the game. Massive grind-fests filled with huge numbers of some of the most annoying ARC, encouraging players to smoke out areas just to loot under cover while other players take advantage of the chaos to shoot them in the back and steal the loot. Then you have the "boss" ARC that can be trivialized by Deadmine junkies while being absurdly resistant to almost everything else. At some point, it stops feeling like the developers are designing encounters and starts feeling like they're just increasing the numbers until something becomes difficult. And then there's the live-service desperation. This is probably the most frustrating part for me now. After losing the overwhelming majority of its player base, the game is constantly shoving itself back into your face. Forced update screens. Forced event screens. Constant notifications about Trials — a part of the game that I couldn't care less about — being pushed in front of you over and over. And then there's the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ store. The constant store pop-ups don't feel like a game confidently presenting something I might want to buy. They feel like the developers are begging me to spend money. And that's what makes this so disappointing. Arc Raiders had an incredible foundation. The world was interesting. The atmosphere was great. The ARC were fascinating when they were still unknown. The player interactions could be genuinely memorable. But instead of building on those strengths, the game has gradually become a grind-heavy loot treadmill wrapped in increasingly aggressive live-service systems. It's the second live-service game I've seen from this development group that had an incredible foundation and enormous potential, only to be handled in a way that burned through its audience. It's sad watching something with this much potential get reduced to grind, optimization, engagement systems, and increasingly desperate monetization. I've uninstalled Arc Raiders, and at this point, I don't think there's anything they can realistically add that would bring me back. Another dead live-service game. And this one didn't have to be.

I really enjoyed ARC Raiders when I first started playing. The gameplay was fresh, the atmosphere was fantastic, and every raid felt exciting. It had me hooked for quite a while. Unfortunately, the more I played, the less I wanted to log in. PvP has become the focus of almost every encounter, making it feel like you can’t enjoy exploring or completing objectives without constantly being hunted. Instead of feeling tense and rewarding, it often just feels frustrating. The community hasn’t helped either. It’s incredibly difficult to find friendly or cooperative players. Most encounters end in kill-on-sight, and the overall experience feels much more toxic than enjoyable. I know that’s part of an extraction shooter, but there needs to be some room for different playstyles if you want to keep a broader player base engaged. I still think the core game is excellent, and that’s what makes this so disappointing. The world, gunplay, and overall design have so much potential. But right now, the constant PvP and the lack of positive player interactions have completely killed my motivation to keep playing. I hope the developers find ways to encourage more meaningful interactions and make the experience feel less like a nonstop PvP deathmatch. I’d love a reason to come back, but for now, I’m moving on. Right now I can’t recommend arc raiders… maybe after some updates.

The game is fun, so is the combat, the gameplay loop is rewarding. But the PvP is infuriating and ruins the experience, there's no way to opt out of it so you're stuck with the rats and a-holes. Most of the time you're getting shot, it rarely feels like a fair fight, it's just others ruining your game and getting away with it. If it weren't for my friends I would've uninstalled long ago.

Recommended for PvPers primarily. I've played the game over 300 hours since it launched. It's a good game. Other people suck, though. And sometimes they will make it NOT a good game, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. You can spend 25 minutes fighting a difficult mission and finally succeed and then during exfil some child sitting with their 3rd person cam scoping you out while you cannot see them just pops out and takes you out in an instant while looking the other way. Cool? It's a shame the devs ditched the initial purely PvE design for the game and went full PvP. There are so many ways around forcing the PvP to always be present. PvP maps. PvP zones. Consensual PvP. Why not just let people chose pvp or pve? Why the forced mixed lobbies? I assume they're worried not enough people will play PvP mode and the PvPers will leave the game? I further assume it came down to a money decision. PvP must sell better. The core game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ great. The AI enemies are good. Fun to fight, extremely difficult at times. The PvP is just not necessary. The Gameplay, fighting, the theme, art, weapons, items, etc. -> All good. It really just hinges on whether you love PvP or not, because the PvE aspect is completely unpredictable, so you never know. If you are trying to figure out if you (a PvE preference player) should try this game? Unfortunately, I have to say you're better off with Helldivers. Skip this if you want a PvPvE experience that limits or puts boundaries on the PvP. Be warned, this game does force you into PvP, it is not optional. Good Luck. Have fun. Don't Die.

ARC Raiders was just about everything I could hope for at launch. I adore it's art style and the layout and design of the maps. I also kept the music on - something I turn off is almost every other game. I am probably the exact type of player they want too - I like a bit of PvE on some days and a bit of PvP on others so bringing them together gives me the chance to play passive or partake in some head-to-head stuff and the variety of maps gave me more passive options and more aggressive options to suit also. I've stopped playing and uninstalled now and I suspect that I'm unlikely to come back unless something changes. Here's some feedback why, on the off chance it's constructive. 1. Game-loop. As I said, I love the PvE elements but, having done the expedition twice, I can't really find the motivation to go through the same missions again. I appreciate a few get tagged on every cycle but it's not really that exciting to grind them all over for 5 new side-missions. What I think should have occurred is that you should have had a games-master style storyteller and introduced a whole story of new missions each cycle. After all said and done, most of it was relatively small stuff and the cut scenes were few enough that I do think you could have put resources onto it. 2. PvP needed more purpose The PvP element to this game is almost entirely about betrayal rather than as a combat sport - the problem with this is that there are better battle royale games out there or even more lore logical extraction games that aren't trying to masquerade as a community saving mankind with a wholesome vibe. The net effect of this, in my opinion is that the people who love it most are people who enjoying ruining other people's fun. Now, I'm not here to criticise how people choose to play games but it's not difficult to see why some people left the game because of this. My constructive suggestion has been the same I've put on feedback forms - give elevated status to PvP'ers in lobbies - send out radio communications that there's a "rat in field - be careful Raiders" and if they survive to the end, reward the PvP'ers with something. In doing so, you'll add reward for the playstyle and also allow for other players to engage defensively or exfil to avoid it. It may be an imperfect solution, but it's more dynamic. 3. The community PvP versus PvE war. This became so tiresome to be around and it's never going to go away. I've never felt the solution is PvE only lobbies or PvP only lobbies - these things have been tried in lots of other games and generally the currently solution is quite good, actually. When I've played extended periods as PvE only, I've nearly always ended up in incredibly friendly lobbies with passive mindsets. When I've really engaged in PvP, I've ended up in lobbies with open warfare. I conclude from this that people who whine about this are either in incredibly unfortunate locations (lack of servers) or they're plain lying to themselves about how peaceful they are (or lying to you). Even so, it's not really on them to solve the problem - they're just players trying to enjoy the sandbox the way it was left. I don't have a fully formed solution to this, but there has to be a more visual or informed way to make these differing styles of play not just matter, but align these people's expectations. 4. The shifted development cycle It would appear to me that you've shifted the development cycle to actually address some of the thoughts and opinions I have, actually, but, in this fast-moving world and with how little trust there is in developers, this is actually the opposite of my expectation. Embark made a lot of money when this exploded - supposedly exploding way more than they had anticipated and so in my mind, you lean into that and you get take your shot. Instead, it would appear that the resources aren't there to scale like that or you've chosen to slow things down to bring greater quality. In a live-service game, that seems like a commitment to conservatism and accepting a much smaller player base in the long-term. Summary In summary, I want to say thank you to Embark and the developers for the over 300 hours of fun I had. I definitely got my money's worth and I think within that kind of time frame it's a brilliant, brilliant game. It was only the repeatability that really ended my run on it but for anyone who hasn't played it and doesn't have any qualms with betrayed, danger and risk, then I think it will be a lot of fun.

This game had huge potential, but unfortunately the developers have done almost everything possible to destroy it. Instead of focusing on fighting cheaters, they keep releasing new skins. Players caught cheating often receive nothing more than a warning instead of a proper ban. I've submitted countless reports, and instead of restoring the items I lost after being killed by cheaters, all I get is a generic "thank you" message. The AI is also in a terrible state. Arks often behave unpredictably and sometimes even work against the player. As soon as you start killing them, the server keeps spawning more mobs that seem to target only you. On top of that, many Arks can spot and attack you through walls, yet these issues remain unaddressed. The game has been out for quite a while, but instead of improving, it feels like every update introduces even more bugs. It seems the developers are far more interested in selling skins than fixing the core gameplay. I've finally run out of patience. I can no longer recommend this game in its current state.
