Amazing game but please bring the new god of war laufey game and the trilogy remake to pc. Its a huge mistake backing away from pc. I am not buying a ps5 for one game series, and while others might I know I'm not the only one. Your exclusives sales are only lacking cause 1. The economy sucks right now and 2. You don't release them at the same time, you release them on pc a year later at full price so people already know if its good or not from the ps players and have already decided if they're buying at full price or not. If you dual release them on pc and ps5, your sales will improve PlayStation. Going "oh our sales have gone down? Clearly its the PC market's fault, lets stop selling there" is dumb, especially at a time where most people can't afford to have more than one platform. If anything now more than ever it is important for a game to release on multiple platforms if you want to actually profit.

WTF Sony you belligerent stuck up arrogant c*~!s. The game is fine, it's a good game, can be a challenge but really good fun, in-depth story and if you really want to set it to story mode you can enjoy a gentle stroll through the game without breaking much of a sweat. In depth characters, great story, mapping and scenery, everything about the game is good for the 15 hours I've managed to play by this point. It totally deserves a thumbs up and a good review. Sony have decided that gathering personal data from users on other devices in order to pad out their own database is far more important to them than offering people on other platforms a smooth gaming experience. I have managed to get about 15 hours out of the game so far, the game runs beautifully, looks great and I haven't had a single game error....... Sonys' service errors are pretty abundant though and stop the game from booting up in the first place. Today for example, I tried starting the game twice getting an error for failing to connect to sony's live service. Then twice more the game just hanged without doing anything but showing it is running in the background on steam. 5th time the game started and all seemed good, but for some reason the game didn't pick up my controller today so I couldn't do anything. I might try a sixth attempt after this review but WHY??? Why sony do I need to have access to your live services in anyway for a game that has no online live aspect. It is a single player game? Why have you forced someone who doesn't own a Playstation or any other sony products to set up a Sony account to play this game on other devices? And finally why are you so stuck up and arrogant about this that you would actually force non-playstation owners into a bad experience just so you can collect some more personal info for your data base ("Oh look how many people we have signed upto sony") You pig headed sons of B*!~?s. Just let people play the games they have paid good money for, because I have never footed a penny towards your live services and I wasn't interested in them but given the number of issues it is causing me I really dislike them too now.

Zero Dawn.

A Masterpiece They took everything that made the previous game great and built so much more on top of it, creating a truly magnificent work. Simply perfect. It stands as a continuation fully worthy of God of War's story and legacy. The graphics and gameplay are impressive, while the atmosphere and environmental design are equally striking. Gameplay & Mechanics The gameplay is largely similar to the previous game, but it introduces several welcome improvements. It is very engaging and fun to play. The weapon and elemental mechanics from the first game return and feel better than ever. Of course, the main weapons are mostly the same as before, but we also have new skills now. One of the best additions is the Draupnir Spear. Since they used the 2018 game as a base, adding a new weapon made total sense. Some players might have wanted even more new fresh gameplay elements, but I already enjoyed the weapons and gameplay, so I didn't mind it much. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3377802061 Speaking of combat, let's not forget this: we still don't have those crazy old-school God of War boss fights. It is better than the previous game, but we still don't see those massive fights we loved. I think one reason for this is that Kratos is much calmer now and doesn't fight unless he really has to. Equipment Armor options and customization are done really well for a God of War game. Considering looks are not usually the main focus, they did a great job. Character skills and weapon upgrades are simple, effective, and offer enough depth. Story, Characters & Emotional Depth In this game, instead of focusing mostly on Kratos, we see more of Atreus (Loki) growing up and finding himself. It also feels like it lays the groundwork for a future Atreus game. Side characters fit into the story very well, and I liked most of them. Because of the game's length, we get to talk to them and know them better. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3377275991 Also, I have to say the emotional and dramatic side went up a level. Seeing Kratos openly express grief and even shed tears adds an entirely new emotional layer to his character. Showing his feelings much more clearly, adds a whole new emotional depth to the story. Lastly, having Freya with us in certain parts and using her skills was a nice surprise. The Atreus segments felt a bit boring at first, but they became much more enjoyable as the story progressed. They provide a refreshing change of pace and are important to the overall narrative. Boss Fights, World & Visual Design The world design is simply outstanding. It looks so good that even walking around doing nothing feels amazing. Every realm is beautifully crafted and full of detail. They also listened to feedback about bosses from the last game. There is a much better variety of boss fights, more enemy types, and the fights are harder. Still, I wished for giant boss fights like in the old Greek games, but these are good enough for now! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3376535698 Side Content, Puzzles, Audio Side quests and activities are not boring filler content; doing them is actually fun. The puzzles are just right: not too easy, not too hard, and they fit the game's pacing perfectly. Combined with LEGENDARY music (you wouldn't expect less from this series), the game offers dozens of hours of meaningful content. On top of that, receiving a free DLC of this quality is incredible. I'm honestly surprised Sony decided to release a DLC of this quality for free. Final No game is perfect, and there are still areas that could be improved, but they never take away from the overall experience. A perfect story, amazing performances, non-stop action, and smart additions make this a special game. Some people probably won't agree with me, but I think it depends on what you expect. God of War Ragnarök builds upon everything that made the 2018 game legendary and improves it in almost every way. Yonderly Score | SSS+ (100)

As a huge fan of the previous God of War, I had very high expectations for God of War Ragnarök, and it exceeded them. The game delivers an epic conclusion to the Norse saga with incredible storytelling, unforgettable characters, breathtaking visuals, fantastic music, and refined gameplay. The story is emotional, intense, and filled with powerful moments. It expands on the relationship between Kratos and Atreus while exploring themes of destiny, family, sacrifice, and choice. The narrative keeps you invested from start to finish and provides a satisfying and emotional conclusion to their journey. The characters are exceptional. Kratos continues to grow as a character, showing wisdom, vulnerability, and strength. Atreus takes on a larger role and experiences significant development throughout the story. New characters such as Thor and Odin are brilliantly written and leave a lasting impression. The visuals are stunning from beginning to end. Each realm feels unique and beautifully crafted, with incredible environmental detail, realistic character models, and impressive visual effects. The game consistently feels cinematic without sacrificing gameplay. The soundtrack is phenomenal and perfectly complements the emotional and epic moments of the story. Voice acting is among the best in gaming, with every major character delivering memorable performances. The sound effects make every weapon strike, spell, and battle feel impactful. The gameplay improves upon the 2018 game in almost every way. Combat feels deeper and more varied, with expanded abilities, enemies, and combat options. The Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos, and other weapons are all satisfying to use. Exploration, side quests, and optional content are rewarding and add many hours of meaningful gameplay. God of War Ragnarök is an outstanding sequel and one of the best action-adventure games ever made. It combines emotional storytelling, incredible characters, beautiful visuals, amazing music, and excellent gameplay into an unforgettable experience. It is a worthy successor to God of War (2018) and an epic conclusion to the Norse saga. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3436383270 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3434434412 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3438929193

🔥 My Twitchㅤㅤㅤ P.S.

First of all, I want to say this game is a masterpiece. It has easily entered my top five games of all time. I will evaluate it through pros and cons and give my final score at the end. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3649723084 ✅ Pros The story is incredible, at least for me. As a sequel, it is one of the two best ever made, and in terms of story, it takes the first place. The gameplay quality is extremely high. SPOILER ALERT: once you get the new spear, the gameplay reaches a completely insane level. The world feels truly alive. Nothing feels pointless or empty. I absolutely loved it, and it is significantly bigger than the first game. SPOILER ALERT: The development of the relationship between Kratos and Atreus is amazing. After The Last of Us Part 1, this is the best character relationship development I have experienced in a game. SPOILER ALERT: Making peace with Freya felt really good, and the sections where we play with her were insanely fun. Thor and Odin’s designs are fantastic. They are exactly how I imagined them. They are challenging enemies, and I especially recommend playing on hard mode. The puzzles are much better designed and no longer overly simple, which I really appreciated. Enemy variety is excellent. There are so many different enemy types that it rarely feels repetitive. I also liked the number of bosses. Side bosses in particular have increased a lot. ❌ Cons There are way too many puzzles. After a certain point, they can seriously get on your nerves and cause frustration. At some moments, I actually had to put the controller down and just breathe. Atreus annoyed the hell out of me in the early parts of the game. Even though his development later is satisfying, I genuinely hated him at first. SPOILER ALERT: Atreus sections are extremely boring in terms of story and pull you out of the game. The only positive side is that the gameplay itself is fun, but the story is dull. Especially the Giant realm section, whoever wrote that part really messed it up. I expected more epic battle moments in the sequel, but unfortunately, they still felt lacking. Overall, I’d give it a solid 95 out of 100. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3648878083

To recommend or not recommend, that is the question >.> This game was a bit of a disappointment for me. Not because it is terrible per se. It’s just not as good as the last game. It still has the characters you love, the world and realms itself are beautifully done, interesting lore and the combat is entertaining. They have really stepped it up with the combat, giving you new weapons and characters to play around with. But compared to the last game, the story isn't keeping my interest and the puzzles are more of an annoyance. Especially the sigil arrow ones. Now I am willing to admit some of it may be player competency, but they just seem very finicky to the point that it is becoming unenjoyable trying to figure them out. Some of the new stuff is great but for the most part, I don't find myself rushing to finish this one. Where I loved exploring in the last game, I just want this to end so I am not doing side content. You can still feel the love put into this game which is why I will CAUTIOUSLY recommend it to fans. You can tell they wanted to build upon what was already there and give players something new, which I can appreciate. But sometimes less is more, and simpler is better. I am going to finish it because I am 40 hours in and want to see how the story plays out, but I would have been satisfied with just watching it on YouTube. Here's hoping for some redemption in the next installment *fingers crossed* Update: Ending almost made the 55 hour grind worth it >.< Really enjoyed it but my review stays the same. It was indeed an uphill battle.

I beat this at launch on PS5 and it was an amazing experience. The PC version suffers from crashes that are likely due to a memory leak. Looking at the Steam forums it looks like many people have been experiencing these crashes for over a year. As far as I can tell there is no reliable fix. I think the developers should address this, or at the very least offer clear communication about how players can fix it themselves.

Quick Sum-Up In-depth analysis further down. No AI was used to write this review. 🟩 Pros 🟩 • Well-written, engaging plot, alongside a cast of memorable characters that have distinct identity, great acting, and solid development as events unfold. • Superb combat system: it has many build choices, abilities and mechanical diversity, on top of varied enemies and unique bosses. It balances player skill and optimized loadouts very well. • Rewarding exploration with tons of side areas, secret locations and meaningful backtracking to obtain unique items and face hidden challenges. • Excellent boss design, with dozens of unique foes that evolve movesets as they get damaged, have special mechanics, and are a formidable challenge on the hardest setting. 🟥 Cons 🟥 • The highest difficulty scales enemies way above your level randomly during battles: they become stagger-resistant HP sponges that can often two-shot you. Textbook artificial difficulty. • Parrying is generally unrewarding until you acquire mid to late game buffs to enhance it. It’s not worth the risk unless you make a specific build around it. • The backtracking to 100% everything can be tedious due to the high amount of slow area transitions, and lack of fast travel in many locations. 🟨 Bugs / Issues 🟨 • Very rare crashes to desktop (2 in 80+ hours) in a specific area. • Using Steam Input with a DualSense controller may cause it to work incorrectly. Content & Replay Value: It took me 82 hours to complete GOW:R on the hardest difficulty, taking considerable extra time to 100% everything, except the DLC because I dislike roguelites; there’s more content if you want to play that, though. Aside from NG+ which unlocks some new upgrades and items, all other content is linear; there’s no reason to replay. Is it worth buying? Absolutely. GOW:R has plenty of interesting content to go through and a satisfying progression system. It’s worth buying for full price, especially for fans of the saga and third-person action enjoyers in general. Verdict: Excellent A great sequel for the reboot series, that expands lore, combat mechanics and gameplay features compared to its prequel, while retaining the same feel with very few downsides. Rating Chart Thanks for reading up to this point! Consider checking out and following my Curator, Tamaster's Review Archive. In-Depth Analysis Writing & Worldbuilding Overall, I found the main plot to be enjoyable and beautifully narrated, with characters having plausible personalities that change over time as a reaction to the events. Coming of age is the central theme of GOW:R, alongside maturity in general. Both Kratos and his son Atreus significantly evolve their beliefs and ways during the journey; the same goes for important secondary characters, be them allies or enemies. Apart from Odin sounding more like a Cartel boss from Breaking Bad than the majestic, imposing god he should be, the main issue with GOW:R’s narration is over-exposure during specific story segments: they’re rather dull and filled with uninteresting dialogue for the most part. Luckily this is an exception, and most of the narrative flows with an appropriate balance of meaningful dialogue, cutscenes and action. The worldbuilding is deep and crafted with care. Aside from dialogues, there’s plenty of lore documents to know more about each of the Nine Realms’ history, traditions, mythology and society both past and present. Of course, historical accuracy isn’t a concern, since there’s a fictional God of War fighting against deities of a whole different pantheon. Each location has a high level of detail, but not much in terms of environmental narration, save for a few exceptions; GOW:R’s world is interesting, complex and coherent: lore enthusiasts will have a field day with theories and speculations about its many yet-unclear mysteries. Exploration & Secrets You’ll explore the Nine Realms mostly on foot, the only exception being dog-powered sleds or rowboats in larger maps. Initially, you’ll be barred from visiting most of the locations, which are unlocked as you progress in the main story. Generally, there’s an alternation of linear sections with a few side areas off the main path, and large open-world sections with plenty of secrets and entirely optional sub-locations. In each Realm, there’s plenty of secrets to find, from legendary chests to unique puzzles, secret bosses, optional quests and a mountain of lore bits. The handy checklist included in your map keeps track, but in many cases it will be up to you to explore carefully, since nothing apart from quest-related objectives is marked on it. In many cases, you’ll have to come back later with proper equipment, skills or after specific events to be able to access multiple locations, which is a bit tedious, but worth your time in terms of rewards and additional content. Fast travel is available between static portals, which have to be backtracked to on foot, which is a bit annoying at times. Exploring every corner, ledge, pit and ruin is fundamental to get all the unique armor pieces, weapon parts, skills and crafting resources needed to upgrade Kratos and his companions’ gear to keep up with increasingly powerful enemies, especially at higher difficulties. Combat System Combat plays out in third person, with fast pacing and plenty of mechanics to consider, that evolve in depth as you progress. Kratos initially has two weapons, the Axe and the Blades, each with their own skill trees that progressively unlock as you upgrade them, and a third main weapon unlocked later in the story. Atreus will be his faithful companion, with his own dedicated skill tree, acting as a support character able to shoot special arrows and split aggro in the more chaotic battles. The system has been mechanically overhauled compared to the first GOW reboot: mechanics like perfect dodges and parries, status effects, stun bars to execute enemies, and a greater variety of enemy skills and unique abilities are all welcome overhauls. The combat gameplay heavily depends on your build type: some players may prefer ranged attacks, while others bank it all on high risk parries and status effects, or stunning enemies quickly to execute them. There’s a great variety of options, and the game encourages you to use all weapon abilities and experimenting with them with a Labor system that upgrades weapon skills the more you use them in combat. It’s not until mid game, however, that the combat system’s full depth and versatility truly start to shine. Expect highly spectacular finishers, devastating abilities, combos, and everything else that makes the GOW series great, but improved even further compared to its predecessor. Except for parrying, which generally isn’t as useful except when used in specific builds. Progression & Crafting As you defeat enemies and complete quests, you’ll gain XP to spend in upgrading your weapon skills, Kratos and his companions’ abilities, other than Runic Abilities and Relics, which act as additional skills with a cooldown. The materials you find from chests, get as quest rewards or drop from defeated enemies, particularly named ones, can be used alongside Hacksilver (currency) to upgrade Kratos’ armor pieces and weapons, granting better stats. There are many combinations between stats, unique passive abilities of each armor, skills and relics. This opens to a great class building variety not usually seen in other GOW games, in some ways similar to ARPGs. It’s a solid progression system that steadily rewards you with new set pieces, skills and interchangeable abilities to experiment with to find the best build for your playstyle.
