If the previous Far Cry games weren't your thing, you're not going to like this one. However, if you're new to the series, you might have a great time :) It's also quite fun to play in co-op with friends. + the main villain is GUSTAVO FRING (you get the idea). A man provides. And he does it even when he is not appreciated, or respected, or even loved. He simply bears up and he does it. Because he is a man. - Gustavo Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails?id=2990382470

The most dispassionate, soulless, hollow game in the series. It takes skill and effort to continue to make the most painfully mediocre experiences. The lack of innovation in the Far Cry series is especially ironic when you look at the origin of the series. All the first 3 games are significantly different from each other in story and gameplay. This is a series that kept changing until it found a huge success and then...it stopped. Far Cry 3 has been a blessing and a curse to the Far Cry series. Nowadays Far Cry is like fast food. It tastes good and you'll enjoy it for what it's worth. It's not the worst thing you've eaten nor the best, it is exceedingly mediocre. You'll feel sick if you eat it all the time, but once in a blue moon you may crave. They may decide to alter the formula, try different combos, or special deals. Sometimes leadership forgets/ignores what made their food great in the first place. Sadly Far Cry 6 it’s not up to Los Pollos standards.

I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that this was genuinely one of the worst games I have ever played. I'm not a Far Cry hater, I actually love the series. I've played through every previous game besides the Far Cry 1. Even the spin offs. This game doesn't seem to understand what people enjoyed about the other Far Cries when it comes to progression and mechanics. The skill tree progression of the previous games always gave a sense of constantly improving yourself as you played. The more objectives completed, the more skill points you acquire, the more perks and mechanics you unlock. It's a simple formula but also very satisfying. By the end of the game you have access to every combat/survival mechanic and feel like a superhuman. Far Cry 6 threw all of that out the window in favor of having perks attached to clothing. Now instead of a constant sense of progression, you randomly unlock or buy pieces of clothing with perks that you may or may not like. This means that you have to keep playing with random progression until you hopefully find clothes that fit your playstyle, then it's done. No more progression. You will never have access to every sandbox element at the same time. This might work for some people but for me, not having access to grenade and pistol takedowns at the same time for instance, really grinds my gears. Instead of playing the game, half the time I'm having to go into a menu to switch loadouts because I didn't have the specifically correct clothes for my situation equipped on my current loadout. It's clunky and it really sucks. I have no idea why they did this. It also doesn't help that they really force ammo types down your throat. Want to have fun with whatever gun you want? Well if it's not equipped with the right ammo type for the enemy, the bullets will practically bounce off them. Now you need a dedicated gun for each ammo type. This overcomplicates loadout building and just leads to frustration more than anything. On top of this, attachments rely off scrap looted in the world instead of money like previous games. This wouldn't be much of an issue except, unlike the money system, looting scrap is long and tedious and you run out of it quickly if you want to customize guns. Experimenting with weapons, a crucial Far Cry feature, was so annoying that I mostly just used explosive weapons for vehicles and the shield revolver/takedowns for people because I couldn't be bothered to constantly gather scrap. The open world feels like stretching a rubber band to the point of snapping. There is "technically" more content in this game than any other Far Cry but world interaction and exploration like outposts and points of interest are so similar and numerous that, combined with the game's lack of proper progression, it feels pointless doing them. I completed most world tasks for the first region only to discover so many other regions with the same exact tasks that I just gave up on the open world and went straight to story missions. The story missions, surprise surprise, are also drawn out to a ridiculous extent. I couldn't get attached to any of the characters because I felt like they were only written out of necessity rather than a passion to tell a good story. Dani in particular is so unbelievably dull that I couldn't stand listening to most of their dialogue. This isn't helped by the completely flat line delivery of female Dani, who I regret choosing. The humor is non-existent. Previous Far Cries have never been known for high brow comedy but I would always get a good few laughs. this game couldn't even get me to smirk. I wouldn't care so much about the story and humor if the game wasn't filled to the brim with cutscenes. Not only are these cutscenes not in first person, therefore breaking story immersion, but they don't utilize the outside camera perspective at all. It's mostly just shot/reverse shot. I tried enduring these cutscenes for a while but I didn't care about the game's characters so I began skipping them. The problem is that the cutscenes are so relentless that I even became annoyed with how often I had to skip them. Never have I said this about any other game. So, in summary. There is practically nothing added to the game's sandbox besides supremos, which are so boring that I forgot to mention them until the end of this review. The previous sandbox elements have now been divided up and only given to you a few at a time depending on your clothes. weapon experimentation has become so tiresome that it's better just to pick one thing that works. There is almost no progression to the game. The map is so large that doing any world task feels pointless. Finally, The story is so long and characters are so derivative that even skipping cutscenes was irritating within itself. Far Cry 6 feels as though it was solely designed to waste as much of your time as possible while giving nothing in return. I got this game for free and I still feel robbed. Never have I seen a franchise this steady drop like a cinderblock in quality with one game. I can see why there hasn't been a new Far Cry in 4 years. This game is not worth your money. If you are interested in Far Cry, buy literally any other game in the franchise and you will have significantly more fun. I haven't even played Far Cry 1 but I'd reckon it's still better than this game. Great job Ubisoft, may the fall of your company be a net positive for the gaming industry.

This REALLY feels unfinished. The pacing feels weird. The combat is super cool but then I have rocket launchers on my back from the start? It feels out of place being a guerilla with scrappy weapons but then walk around with a backpack missile barrage system (BMBS?). Going to into third person suddenly in the camp is very jarring. Specially since you can't vault and stuff such as the previous games, but that makes it extra wobbly. There's also this balance with the forces. The AI seems both smarter and dumber at the same time. The recognition that they saw something, investigate is really good. But firing a rifle and they don't know where I am feels like fighting reverse bats. Great sight but no sound. The headshots feel great. But why are snipers jumping down to kick me? Maybe some config is off? The aircraft would be nice to have non inverted by default, free look, and the ability to yaw so you can bank the plane left or right. The radio songs are fun but I wish I could see what "stations " I'm on and go back and forth. I keep accidentally changing stations and not finding the song I was vibing to. I miss the animation of taking over locations. Like taking down flags and throwing banners overs or even burning them. The cut from before to after feels unfinished. The drive to destination is unfinished. It just swerves onto oncoming traffic to avoid the oncoming traffic. It feels like I programmed this in a weekend. I like the option to pick your character at the beginning. But I had trouble relating to the characters. They're more annoying than cooky. The overall game feels like it's not finished.

The Good Level design, as usual, is top notch. I felt like I could tackle every scenario any way I wanted. The environments were really interesting, there were a lot of really fun ideas they explored. I actually like the armor/gear system as rewards for the collectathons, I felt like that was a good addition. The Bad If too big was a game, it'd be Far Cry 6. Too much open land, too many collectathon gimicks, too many everything, and this is from somebody who 100%ed Far Cry 3 and 5. Loved those games. This game feels insurmountable. I'm 20 hours in and I'm barely half-way through. And it's not like the game adds more mechanics as you go on, it's the same game from hour 1 as hour 20. Same mechanics, same enemy variants, same everything. Not only that but the map is just MASSIVE. Like, truly gargantuan. Which would be fine if it was diverse. In Far Cry 5, the enemies were rarely more than one-shot kills, to make up for this they threw waves and waves of guys at you and made their bullets hurt. In Far Cry 6 enemies are a MUCH tankier and so they throw fewer enemies at you. The upside? I can't really find one. Enemies are more bullet spongey and there's less of them. It's less climatic, cinematic, and the battles go from clearing out bases just stuffed with enemies to killing a few dudes and not much else. Also the Enemy AI feels WORSE than 5 (I think this is because they tried to make them more tactical, but the AI sucks, so they just hide from you more so than do tactical maneuvers). The cutscenes with the main villains are short, and frustratingly infrequent. The side villains barely get any plot, and when they do it's entertaining, but ultimately means little when you get a cutscene every 2-4 hours of play. The villain climaxes (at least the one's I got to in my TWENTY HOURS OF PLAY TIME) were lackluster compared to the previous games as well. The Ugly And the Spanish is inauthentic. I mean, the accents are all over the place, and they don't even sound like Carribean-Spanish when the talk. I expected more from the company that literally INVENTED TWO NEW LANGUAGES for Far Cry Primal. The crafting system is out of hand. Why the hell is there a crafting system at all. What are we doing here. This is so dumb. The one is Far Cry 3? It encouraged you to complete side tasks and in return you got helpful perks (extra ammo capacity for specific firearm types, extra inventory slots, etc). In Far Cry 6 it's for some of the most insignificant crap/upgrades for your weapons which mean NOTHING when you get handed a bunch of exotic one-of-a-kind weapons right out the gate that out perform anything you could make otherwise. AND EVEN THEN, YOU RARELY HAVE ALL THE MATERIALS YOU NEED. Finally, a lot of the characters you meet are just... lame? Like, a team of "free speech rappers" who are not very good and are pretty dang useless that you have to prop up because of the plot. A character who's hard af because they "had top surgery without painkillers," wtf??? A family who have beef with Castillo's nephew and so are like all spec-ops ninjas for some reason? "What makes them different? They're angry because they're oppressed" NEWS FLASH BUDDY, EVERYBODY IS ANGRY THEY'RE OPPRESSED. The Conclusion They dropped the ball. I gave it 20 hours of play time before I called it. I really tried. If I was terminally unemployed I *might* have finished it just so I can say I completed all the games, but that'd be the only reason. Don't buy it, even on sale. The fun-to-time-spent ratio is just too off. Personally, I wouldn't even recommend it free, you'd just be sending hours of your life down the drain for so little gain. If you really want to see Giancarlo Esposito do his thing (like I did), find a cutscene movie on YouTube. He does a really good job as the villain but appears once every 3-5 hours of play.

This game does not feel like a far cry title. It feels like a hollow shell of what far cry should be. I love video games. I dedicate every day of my life to them. To me, they are a sublime form of art and beauty: the highest level artistic expression has reached. But there comes a point in every cultural industry where repetition ceases to be an artistic strategy and becomes a pathological diagnosis of a deeper condition. It no longer signals continuity; it reveals exhaustion. Far Cry 6 must be read precisely in those terms: not as an isolated product with design flaws, but as a symptom of a broader transformation in the logic of contemporary video games. Since Far Cry 3, the series had built a recognizable identity around a simple yet powerful premise: "the fantasy of individual power within a hostile environment" Progression was not based on numerical abstractions, but on practical mastery-pattern recognition, precise execution, improvisation under pressure. The experience was grounded in a form of direct agency, where every action produced an intelligible consequence within the game world: "a sniper headshot was a sniper headshot!" Far Cry 6 breaks that foundational contract. Now, you may need four or more shots to kill a generic enemy in the head. I. The Quantification of Experience and the Loss of Meaning: The introduction of RPG systems-levels, weapon rarity, health bars-is not merely a mechanical expansion, but an ontological mutation of the ludic object. The enemy ceases to be an entity situated in the world and becomes a quantifiable magnitude: a reservoir of hit points to be depleted, a bullet sponge that absorbs headshots. The effect is not trivial! When a headshot ceases to be decisive, the game undermines its own internal coherence. Action loses its meaningful character and becomes procedure. It is no longer about acting correctly, but about accumulating sufficient damage. This shift can be understood within a broader framework: instrumental rationality applied to game design, where every experience must be measurable, scalable, and optimizable. Yet in this process, what is lost is precisely what gave action its meaning: its irreducible quality. It is important, however, to acknowledge a counterargument: these systems increase accessibility, allow for diverse playstyles, and broaden the player base. But this inclusivity comes at a structural cost. By homogenizing experience into quantitative terms, the game dilutes what once made the series distinctive. Inclusion is achieved at the expense of identity. II. Repetition, Variation and Simulation Without Progress: Repetition is not inherently a flaw; it is constitutive of video games as a form. The issue in Far Cry 6 is that repetition has been emptied of meaningful variation. Missions (eliminate targets, destroy infrastructure, burn crops) do not generate new experiential configurations but reiterate a closed structure. What emerges is a troubling phenomenon: a simulation of activity without real transformation. The player is constantly acting, yet these actions fail to produce qualitative novelty. Time invested does not translate into real experience, but into accumulation and consumption. This design responds less to an aesthetic logic than to an industrial one: maximizing player retention time. Thus, a form of entertainment is configured that seeks neither artistic intensity nor transcendental meaning, but quantitative duration: spending more time doing the same actions, now artificially prolonged-where one headshot once sufficed, now four are required. III. The Open World and the Reduction of Space to Interface: The world of Far Cry 6 is vast, but that vastness lacks density. It is expansive in metric terms, yet poor in phenomenological ones. Here, the distinction between scale and depth becomes crucial. An open world, in its fullest sense, should constitute a horizon of emergent possibilities. Instead, the space is presented as a matrix of predefined tasks. The player does not inhabit the world; they traverse it as one navigates an interface. Exploration is reduced to optimization. Freedom becomes the selection between pre-structured options. In this sense, the world ceases to be a space of experience and becomes a system for distributing repetitive, empty activities. IV. The Infiltration of the “Game as a Service” Model: Although Far Cry 6 is not formally presented as a live-service game, its internal architecture clearly reflects the influence of this model. Systems of cumulative progression, standardized interfaces, and structures designed to prolong interaction rather than intensify it. The reference to Destiny is not incidental. This design paradigm has redefined success in the industry, shifting the focus from closed experiences to continuous engagement. Yet in adopting these structures, Far Cry 6 becomes trapped in an intermediate state. It lacks the systemic depth of a service-oriented game while also losing the coherence of a self-contained narrative experience. The result is a structurally unstable hybrid, marked by a persistent sense of emptiness. V. Narrative, Politics and Symbolic Emptiness: The presence of Giancarlo Esposito suggests a narrative ambition the game ultimately fails to sustain. The antagonist does not structure the experience but appears sporadically, without generating sustained or meaningful tension. More significant is the treatment of its political dimension. A story about overthrowing a dictatorship necessarily implies a stance-clearly echoing Cuba. Yet the game systematically neutralizes its own content. Politics is reduced to empty aesthetics: recognizable signs without interpretive commitment or corporate willingness to take a clear ideological position. Once again, a kind of fragility emerges-a reluctance to challenge, to offend, to assert. This produces an effect of symbolic emptiness. The narrative does not construct meaning; it only simulates it. VI. Alienation and the Loss of Identity: All these transformations lead to a deeper conclusion: Far Cry 6 does not merely alter its design-it loses its identity. It becomes a product aligned with external forces-market trends, metrics, retention models-rather than responding to an internally coherent logic. In this sense, we can speak of alienation: the game no longer belongs to itself. Its form no longer expresses intention, but adaptation to market logic. Conclusion: From Experience to Consumption: Far Cry 6 does not fail due to technical shortcomings or lack of resources. Its problem is structural: it is an object designed under multiple incompatible logics, none of which fully prevails. What is at stake is not merely the quality of a single title, but a transformation in the very nature of video games as a medium. When design becomes primarily oriented toward maximizing consumption time, experience loses its meaningful character and approaches a form of repetitive occupation—one that produces not aesthetic enjoyment, but a kind of mechanical nausea. It would be inaccurate, however, to extend this critique indiscriminately across the entire industry. There remain spaces (particularly outside the AAA circuit) where video games continue to explore their potential as an artistic medium. Precisely for this reason, Far Cry 6 is significant: not as a universal rule, but as a paradigmatic case of a dominant trend. The question it leaves us with extends beyond this game: "What kind of experiences are we designing when the goal shifts from intensity and meaning to mere duration-empty, repetitive duration?" In this transition toward market-driven logic, the real risk is not simply that we stop playing as we once did, but that we stop finding in games something worth experiencing as art. We, as players, do not want to be turned into Sisyphus: Sometimes we just want something as simple as a sniper headshot being just a sniper headshot.

TL;DR - this game is bad. It is, in fact, very, very not good. There is a Steam achievement for beating the game - not to any level of completion, but just to reach the final cutscene of the story - and it has an 11.1% achievement rate. I am 0% surprised. That should really tell you all you need to know. I didn't even encounter most of the bugs that people are talking about, and I have no questions as to why so few people are reaching the end credits. For starters, the game design is nonsensical and inconsistent. A little microcosm of an example: in the western and central sections of the main map, your missions are pretty standard fare "follow the golden diamond on your map" types of quests. Go to a place, kill some dudes, hit E on a computer, etc. Quest marker on everything. But in the eastern section, there are several quests where you don't get a diamond, and have to hunt and find your objective. They reference landmarks on the map to tell you where to look, which would be fine... except those landmarks' names don't appear until you reach the absolute most zoomed in level, and have to pan around searching for the stupid things. One of the missions even gives you an image on your character's phone. Of a map. With your quest targets marked. But you still don't get an in-game quest marker. Uh, okay then. It really makes it feel arbitrary when it does or does not give you these quest markers until you realize it's probably because it was a different team working on that section of the game, and they didn't check back enough with the other teams. Sloppy, sloppy design. The design would be excusable if the story was great. Unfortunately, the writing is bland and generic. You are a guerilla. There is a dictator, and he has some generals. That's literally all you need to know. Whatever storyline you drew up in your head? Yeah, that's the exact storyline of Far Cry 6. This could maybe be redeemed if the characters were interesting enough to make up for it. Except... they're actually somehow worse than the plot itself. Most of the allied characters are bland caricatures of some one to three word cliche. "Badass woman" is present and accounted for. "Eccentric engineer"? Check. "Gay drag queen"? You betcha! The villains are flatter still. There's absolute ZERO villain nuance. The bad guys are just completely, comically evil. Picture any bad thing a person can do. Yep! At least one of the main bad guys are doing that! Previous Far Cry games tossed in some moral quandaries as well. Far Cry 3 had you asking, "What is all this killing doing to me?" Far Cry 4 asked, "Am I really picking the lesser of two (or I guess three) evils?" Far Cry 5 even had the stones to ask, "What if this guy is actually right? Do the ends justify the means?" "Nah," says some Ubisoft writer somewhere, "no time for that here! Your allies are always in the right, and your enemies are always in the wrong. Nice, neat, moral black and white, just how you and your simple gamer mind like it, right? Now quick, let's use that to push an agenda!" Which... listen, I'm all for games making a statement. If you've built a platform and you want to use it to speak about something that's important to you, then I say go for it. But holy hell, has Far Cry 6 done it in a profoundly jarring and disingenuous way. To start, the game is set in "I Can't Believe It's Not Cuba!" No part of the story takes place in America (unless you count a single cutscene in the secret ending). Yet, we've still found a way to call Americans racist two separate times in the span of the main questline alone? Come on, now. Well, okay. It's annoying, but it's two lines of dialogue in a big game. The big problem is the ENTIRE THIRD OF THE GAME that is just... wall to wall bad, because they wrote around trying to shoehorn trans representation in. Look, I get it. You want to address current issues, and make people feel seen. But, this guy is in the middle of a war, where people are being killed, abducted, tortured, and subjected to human experimentation (remember, no villain nuance). So why the hell is his main concern how hard it is to be trans? Don't even get me started on the showdown with the general of that section. (spoiler describes the contents of that scene) She misgenders the trans character, so said character's girlfriend brutally guns her down on live TV. Not to mention that disdain for LGBT is not a character trait the villain has ever shown at this point. It just happens out of nowhere for this scene, because they want to make the statement with their one-dimensional villains that evil = misgendering, and want to brutalize a character who does it. It plays out like it was written by a frustrated middle-schooler, not a triple A game studio. Now don't get me wrong - representation can absolutely be done right. Kim Kitsuragi from Disco Elysium is an awesome character, and is far more concerned with being a good detective than being a homosexual (in a game about being a detective, imagine!) despite being both of those things. Even when matters of a character's sexuality/identity take center-stage, it can be done well when that's important to the plot - see Kanji Tatsumi, my literal favorite character from the Persona series. Far Cry 6, though, misses this mark HARD. Okay... so the game design is sloppy and inconsistent. The story and characters are flat at best, and the picture of abject cringeworthiness at worst. Surely the gameplay makes up for some of it, right? ...right? Well, a little... maybe. The gameplay is... fine, I guess, at least at first. It's still a step below other Far Cry titles, but it's not unplayable. There's an extra incentive when clearing out bases for stealth and picking enemies off like the guerilla you are. On paper, there's also an emphasis on picking "the right tool for the right job", which comes in the form of different ammo types for different enemies. However. The first ammo type you unlock is armor piercing, and you learn pretty quickly that you'll never need nor want to use anything else, except for maybe blast rounds to fight vehicles. Why? Because even the weakest guns in the game with armor piercing rounds are perfectly capable of killing any enemy in the game with one shot to the head, at any range that will ever matter. In fact, it's the only real way to kill enemies - if you hit them in the body, it can take up to 20 shots instead, depending on what gun and ammo type you're using. Slap a suppressor on that thing, and you can take down entire squads of the absolute lobotomy survivors they added to this game as enemy combatants before any of them ever notice you're ten feet from them. This is compounded by the fact that unless you're in a restricted area, you can just holster your gun and run right next to the soldiers without them doing anything, to make this game very, very, very unchallenging. Oh, also you get an ultimate ability in the form of a superpower backpack. You'll almost never need to use it, but you've got it. If you put the medical one on, you'll completely trivialize the game, since whenever you go down you can just pop your ult and get right back up. The silver lining to all this is that, because the game isn't really much of a challenge, you do feel like a total badass, clearing through hordes of soldiers without any trouble at all... at least at first. But after achieving your full potential in the first 15% of the game and with no real character progression outside of gear, it quickly descends into a boring slog for the rest. Also - how the hell did they make the TANKS in this game so clunky and impotent that they're just not worth the effort to drive? Tanks in a shooter are supposed to be awesome! All in all - this game is just not in any way worth the time, effort, or money you'd be sinking into it. If you really want to run the gauntlet to be part of the 11.1%, I can't stop you. But now, you can never say I didn't warn you.

Easily the worst Far Cry game in the series, don't get it, not even on sale to play with a friend (that's the reason why I unfortunately got it) -The story is really boring and generic, easily the worst story out of any far cry game. I spent more time sleeping during cutscenes than actually paying attention. -The characters are incredibly shallow and a lot of the time really obnoxious and cringe. Most characters can be 100% described in 1 or 2 sentences. This issue also applies to villains, which is really sad because the main antagonist of the story is played by Giancarlo Esposito, who is a really talented actor and he put his soul into the role, issue is the character he is playing is written like rotten snail secretions. -The map is really big, but really boring and just feels empty. You have no real reason to go exploring it as there aren't many collectables outside of crafting items and money which you can easily get just by following the story. Hunting is also useless for the same reasons, you cant craft anything with animal skins, their only use is money so hunting is basically just gone. Since the map is massive and boring, you will spend 90% of your time fast traveling or just driving, so you won't see much interesting on the map. The combat is incredibly boring, the enemy ai is beyond braindead i've seen them go behind cover, wait 3 seconds and forget you exist so they just start walking around aimlessly in the middle of combat. They tried to add combat variety by adding enemies without armor and with armour and many ammo types to deal with each enemy type, but in practice you will only use armor piercing rounds because otherwise the armoured enemies take no damage, but headshots will oneshot all enemies. Speaking of damage, bodyshots do no damage, there is no point of aiming for the body, the game is basically played headshots only. -Weapon variety is also lacking, most guns feel the same except for a few that just outplay every other weapon (my friend has been running the same gun from the start of the game). There is more weapon customisation compared to previous games, but in practice you will just get armor piercing rounds and not use 90% of the attachments. -Missions are really lazy and repetitive, they have almost no variety. Just come to an outpost, shoot the braindead slime munching husks known as the "soldatos" and maybe grab something and go, and repeat until you finish the game. I can go on and on, but I just want to save you the money, this game is far cry only in name. Go play literally any other far cry game and you will get more enjoyment from those than this piece of scamming junk. You will literally get more enjoyment from plucking all the hair off of your balls using chopsticks, boiling it all in water and eating it like ramen.

Its a good game but I do have my gripes about it. +Beautiful environment and graphics +Fun gameplay +Massive map +/- I did run into a couple bugs. Nothing insane but it was a little annoying. Not like theyre everywhere though. -Microtransactions/cosmetics in a full priced game?? Thats wild -Hides collectible maps behind extra paid maps in the store?? -Looting is a thing of the past, soldiers dont even drop guns -No skill tree, just upgrading weapons with generic materials you find. -The weapon customization feels shallow. Its the same for all guns in each class and even then its mostly the same between classes -Story wasnt horrible but everything felt shallow including the characters. The main character especially. -Small gripe but as someone who goes for them, the achievements are dumb. Theres one for sliding 200m which has to be done in a specific spot to even achieve but theres nothing for getting all the check points for example and half of them are hidden behind the DLC. Its not exactly a bad game and its worth a play but it just feels soulless. Buy it on a heavy sale.

The story is a bit dull and most characters you interact with, are plain annoying. The gameplay can be fun at first, but quickly gets repetitive. The world is large enough, but still feels empty. No skills and poor weapon choice. The game does have some ok ideas and can be a fun way to spend a weekend, but overall, it's nowhere as good as the previous Far Cry games.

To be honest, I didn't even have some great expectations for Far Cry 6, and even like that, it still managed to disappoint me. Let's start with something that I, personally, liked in the game: + Map. I may be wrong, but this is the only FC game that features some city, and it was interesting to fight and have some parkour in such an environment. + Soundtrack. The OST is so on point that I unironically listened to some in isolation from the game. + Guns' design. Usually, I don't really care about the guns' design in the FC series. It was just okay, nothing special, but in this case, I really enjoyed some special weapons, some skins for regular weapons, and attachments. + Supremo idea. I really liked the idea of having some «ultimate skill,» so I looked forward to opening more Supremos. + Transport customization. It's very cool to have the ability to alter your car's color, weapon, and shield. + The mood of the plot. Let me make it clear—the plot itself is awful, but at some moments there, the game didn't try to take it seriously. They were funny and enjoyable, at least for me. I guess that's all for the pros of the game. Now let's dive into some things that I didn't like: — Awful game progression. You know, that point not only relates to the plot but to gameplay as well. It is not how it was in previous FC games, excluding FC: New Dawn, which started this trend in the FC series. Now, to unlock new weapons, you either have to look for damn chests all over the map or buy them—but the thing is, those weapons cost so many pesos that it is much easier to loot the map than simply buy them from shops. — No point in looting. Let me make this clear. I, personally, looted everything that I saw, but at some point, when I had all the weapons I wanted and, since I didn't spend even a single peso, near the middle of the game, I'd lost all interest in looting any chests and did it only if it was by the way I was going. — Bad coop. Instead of a million words, I'll just describe one thing: absolutely NO SYNC from coop sessions. If you want to unlock a wingsuit in a co-op, it's basically impossible, and you have to do it in a co-op for one host and only then for another. — Stupid AI. Well, not much to add here. The AI in the game is so dumb that you'll never encounter some tough fights or situations, even with so-called «special forces from Anton» or something like that. — Shop with microtransactions. Ubisoft and especially Yves Guillemot—it's never fun to have microtransactions in a single-player game. I've read news about the last Ubisoft meeting with investors, and Yves maybe convinced them that microtransactions are not harming their games, but don't be surprised when your company dies because of this. — Plot. Oh boy... It was so UNinteresting to follow it. I have to say that I liked Anton and Diego, and I wish Ubisoft would have made their relationship more complicated and given more screen time to them, but, unfortunately, it is impossible. And given all the things in the plot, I believe that in this case, it would have been much more beneficial if the plot was more comedic. Come on, rebellions seeking help from some braindead teenagers who also rap about freedom? And without them, revolution is not possible? Give me a break. — Parkour system. Don't know what to describe here, it's just awful. Sometimes character can't grab the ledge they definetely are able to grab. Sometimes character simply don't want to jump from one ledge to another for no reason at all. — Execution of Supremos. Lack of variety. Lack of impact. Lack of original Supremos. Half-baked mechanic, to be honest. Well, I guess that's all. I kind of like FC games, so I hope FC7 will be better, but recent Ubisoft statements make me believe that there's no hope for Ubisoft. And for their games as well.

TLDR; Even at $6 for base game or $12 for full game, don’t buy this at all. Even free is a disservice to your precious time and the 170gb of precious storage this game takes up. I’m a huge fan of FarCry, I played all except Primal and 1, and until recently FarCry 6. I knew this game was not going to be as great as the others based on Steam reviews and I still played up until a breaking point for me, just past the completion of ⅓ sections of the map. After playing a little bit of another map section, I got fed up and played the Vaas DLC, which I will get to. First the positives: Giancarlo Esposito is an absolute blessing and also a false flag into thinking the rest of the game will be good let alone serviceable. Anytime I heard or saw him in cutscenes, I locked in to watch. It’s honestly a shame the mocap they made for him hinders his performance and looks really dated even by the game’s 2023 release date. For some reason, the game looks graphically like a downgrade from New Dawn and 5. I’m not completely sure how or why but like I mentioned above even the mocap is not that great. It’s not terrible and graphics overall are good enough but definitely worse than New Dawn even with all of the ray-traced shadows and reflections enabled. The game is also not as responsive as other games in the series. There are often times it takes multiple button presses to register and overall feels more clunky to play. To properly feel in control of helicopters, I had to max out the mouse sensitivity to actually turn faster than the titanic. One of the staples of FarCry is progression through a skill tree that is not present in this game and is replaced by a system way worse: gear. It’s all wearable gear that you get “perks” from. So instead of slowly becoming stronger through skill points, you’re instead at the mercy of rng loot that honestly doesn’t make much of a difference. If anything they take perks from older games and bundle it with each new gear item individually. Want more than one heal? Find or buy the shirt that gives you that perk. Want more ammo? Find some pants, they’ll take care of that for you. The only things you can arguably “improve” are weapons and your ult or your “supremo”. Weapons typically have ranks associated with them and with attachments you can boost said ranks but not by much, you’re better off buying better weapons from the store of the rank you want. As for the supremo, it is such a crutch that it actively makes the game worse but for some reason, the rocket supremo almost feels required if you don’t have an RPG for the heli spam in a lot of missions. Which leads me to the next issue: everything is bullet spongy, even if you have the proper ranked weapons and the correct ammo, it takes almost a full magazine to kill a regular dude. Even New Dawn, which had more of an Ubisoft RPG style than this game felt better and enemies were less spongy than this game. The story is something, I think the message is “le civil war bad, facism bad”. Cool concept of being stuck in a guerilla war against a larger government. However it does a terrible job of making you feel that way besides the occasional mountain of bodies you see. You can pick male or female protag, I went with the guy and he does not shut up with his quips. In fact, no one does. Everyone thinks they’re the funny guy and as a result everyone feels very copy and paste. No personality or individuality except on the most basic and superficial level. There’s plenty more wrong with the story I bet, but I don’t feel like writing more about it. One semi-redeeming part is the Vaas DLC, which I beat in about 2 hours and had a good time with. While nothing crazy, it deepens the character of Vaas as you’re literally in his headspace. You get to see his memories and it makes him as a character much more tragic. The roguelite gimmick was fine for the one playthrough I did and felt like I couldn’t get any more mileage out of it. So when I found that all of the villain DLCs have the same exact structure, pacing, gameplay, everything, I wrote this review. I feel there is often an audience for any kind of game, even really bad ones. This game however, is truly a game not really meant for anyone. It takes a well known and working formula and instead of experimenting or improving on it, it instead removes or distills anything that makes a FarCry game a FarCry game to the point it's just mush. This game honestly makes me worried for future FarCry games, if we ever get another. Maybe not getting another at this point is for the best.

If you are able to completely dissociate this game from the Far Cry series, like treat it as if it's a Far Cry clone, this game is actually good; the story, however, is horrible. Anton and Bembe are probably the only characters that I really liked. I didn't feel like these characters were actually Latino; they felt like a country of "No Sabo" kids. The actions they took and how people went about reasoning their ideology were kinda dumb and unrealistic; the story felt more like a fantasy where everyone agreed with "progressive" ideology. I would have liked more reality in this game: people not agreeing politically but still working together, Latino machismo, spiritualism, and how people really react to their personal preferences instead of just stating that they happen and we never see or experience it happen. It feels disingenuous to the Latino community. I also did not like the amigos; I don't mind animal companions, but it's next to impossible to get all of the perks for Chorizo, especially when he runs into combat ahead of you and you need him nearby for his healing ability. I missed the Far Cry 5 companion system; I wished they kept that. The gun customization is awesome, although I wish I could change the aesthetics like I could with the armor. It's a little jarring to have a badass sniper rifle and have a milk jug duct-taped to the end of the barrel just to have the silencer bonus. I know people hate this game, but the gameplay to me is decent. The AI is bad (like most games this era), the customization is great, and the armor combinations are annoying, but after playing some time, they do change the difficulty of some missions/quests to approach things differently, so it does help with replayability. I feel like the Villains DLC is really good since they expand on the villains from previous Far Cry games. There are microtransactions, but they don't take away from game progression or are required in order to complete the game—only added aesthetics, which is what they should be. Overall, ignore most of the game, and it's a good game. Lol

Ah man. Not worth it imo. 5/10 from me Everything feels and plays like so early 2010s and outdated. There is potential in the main story only if it didn't had been treated like a traditional ubisoft formula of gameplay and bloating the playtime with artificial bs. Looking forward to FC7 and hoping for the best
