Some games end when you close them. Others continue to live in your mind even after the credits roll. For me, “Death Stranding” became exactly that kind of experience. When I first started playing, I struggled to understand it. I walked through endless roads, carried heavy loads, and sometimes asked myself, Is this really what the game is about? But as time passed, I slowly began to understand what it was trying to tell me. Death Stranding was never just a game about delivering cargo. It was a story about disconnected people trying to find their way back to each other. Every delivery I made, every road I crossed, and every structure I built started to feel meaningful because I realized I wasn’t just carrying packages; I was helping reconnect a broken world. The thing that affected me the most was the silent connection I created with people I never met. Finding a bridge left behind by another player when I needed it most, discovering a generator exactly when I needed power, or seeing a small sign from someone who had passed through that place before me... I never knew who those people were, and they never knew who I was. But somehow, in the same world, we made each other's journeys a little easier. I think that was the true beauty of Death Stranding. It doesn't constantly make you feel like a great hero. Instead, it shows you how meaningful it can be to simply make another person's journey a little easier. And then there was Sam Porter Bridges... Sam wasn't just a character I controlled. I changed alongside him. At the beginning, he was someone who kept his distance from others and ran away from his past. But throughout his journey, I slowly realized that what he was truly running from wasn't people themselves, but the pain and fear that comes with forming connections. His relationship with Lou was the best example of this. What started as a simple mission slowly became something much more meaningful. Lou was no longer just a BB that Sam had to carry; Lou became the connection that helped Sam open his heart and trust others again. Cliff's story was another part that left a lasting impression on me. Scenes that I didn't fully understand at first gained a completely different meaning by the end. It showed that this journey was never only about saving the world; it was also about understanding the past, accepting loss, and finding a reason to move forward. Death Stranding taught me to slow down. To look around, appreciate quiet moments, and understand that even people we've never met can leave small but meaningful marks on our lives. I've played many games throughout my life. Some entertained me, while others impressed me with their stories. But very few made me want to stop, admire the scenery, listen to the music, and simply stay in that moment. Years from now, I might not remember every single detail. But I don't think I will ever forget the long walks, the roads beneath the rain, the songs playing in the distance, and the kindness left behind by strangers. Because some games are not simply played. You spend a part of your life with them. For me, “Death Stranding” became one of those games. Not just a game. Not just a mission to complete. But a special journey that I will remember for a long time. Thank you, Hideo Kojima. For giving us not just a game, but an experience that reminds us of the importance of staying connected. 🌧️ “Keep on keeping on.”

Death Stranding is one of the strangest games I’ve ever played, because I genuinely cannot decide whether it is an ambitious masterpiece trapped inside a boring game, or a boring game trapped inside an ambitious masterpiece. There is undeniably something fascinating about it at first. The atmosphere is phenomenal, the music is nothing short of spectacular, and the world feels almost hypnotic during those first hours. Kojima clearly wanted to make something “important,” something larger than the usual AAA formula, and for a while I was completely on board with it. The traversal mechanics especially caught my attention. The idea that the journey itself becomes the adventure instead of merely existing between action sequences is honestly refreshing. Then the game asks you to do it again. And again. And again. And again. Eventually, the illusion starts to collapse. Nearly every mission feels functionally identical: carry object from Point A to Point B with little to no variance. No stealth, infiltration, sabotage, round-up missions, meaning the game is the equivalent of Final Fantasy XV's worst design: fetch quests, but an entire game. New gadgets and mechanics arrive later, but not nearly fast enough to justify how repetitive the experience becomes early on. By the time the game “opens up,” I was mostly wondering whether the destination was worth the hike. Kojima already had this issue in Metal Gear Solid V, another game where brilliant systems were stretched across an experience that somehow felt endless, repetitive, empty and frankly boring at the same time. The real disappointment, though, is the story. The opening hours create a genuinely fantastic premise filled with mystery and tension, but the narrative quickly disappears into an avalanche of nonsense terminology and self-serious exposition. Characters constantly talk about chirality, DOOMS, Beaches, BTs, BBs, extinction entities, and whatever new word Kojima throws at you. The game desperately wants all of this to sound profound, but after enough cutscenes it starts feeling like listening to someone blabbering after smoking weed. The dialogue certainly does not help. Half the cast speaks in exposition dumps, while the other half communicates through awkward puns and lines that sound like they were translated into English by someone who learned human interaction exclusively through Wikipedia articles. Every conversation feels one step away from someone turning directly toward the camera and saying, “Perhaps the real Death Stranding was the strands we stranded along the way.” Absolutely ridiculous. And yet, despite all of this, I cannot completely hate the game. There is something unique here. I can understand why some players connect deeply with its slow, meditative rhythm. Kojima was clearly trying to create something genuine and unconventional instead of another safe blockbuster product assembled in a corporate laboratory. But for me, the experience never evolved enough. I kept waiting for the game to surprise me, to deepen mechanically, narratively, emotionally — to finally deliver the punch its atmosphere kept promising. After around 12 hours, that moment never came. It's hard to recommend this game to someone who likes video games for the sake of interaction. As an adventure game, I still think Journey is a far superior walking simulator, and it's going to be hard to match it. However, if you don't take mechanics too seriously, and are on board of delivering the same quest a million times, then the game might be for you. In the end, I respect Death Stranding for what it is more than I actually enjoy it. And honestly, that may be the most Kojima sentence imaginable. But ultimately, I feel the game is stranded between the beach of a masterpiece, and the beach of a bad game, never fully reaching either of them.

I really tried to like this game, but I just can’t finish it. There are simply better games to play that aren’t this frustrating to control. The storytelling feels aggressively pretentious, filled with constant, on-the-nose metaphors desperately trying to be deep and thought-provoking, but ultimately coming off as written by a fart-smelling prima donna crying while applying black lipstick. The third-person shooter mechanics are clunky and underdeveloped, which is especially painful when the game forces combat sections that feel completely at odds with the rest of the experience. Vehicle physics are awful. Terrain traversal is already tedious on foot, which I get is intentional, but vehicles somehow manage to make it worse instead of better when you hit a rock. I understand what the game is trying to be, and I respect the ambition, but ambition alone doesn’t make something enjoyable. Between the horrible pacing, constant cutscene interruptions, awkward combat, and an exhausting number of poorly executed systems, this ended up being one of the most baffling and exhausting experiences I’ve had in a game. It clearly resonates with some people, but for me, it’s an interesting idea buried under layers of frustration and unnecessary excess.

Death Stranding: Review Death Stranding is not a game you rush. It’s a game you walk through, literally and emotionally. At first glance, it looks simple: deliver packages, connect places, keep walking. But the longer you play, the clearer it becomes that this game is about something much bigger: connection, isolation, loss, persistence, and what it means to keep going when the world feels broken. The atmosphere is incredible. Lonely landscapes, haunting music that kicks in at just the right moment, and that constant feeling of being small in a massive, uncaring world. Sometimes you’re not doing much - just walking - but somehow it feels meaningful. Almost meditative. Story & Themes The story is peak Kojima: strange, symbolic, emotional, confusing at times, but always intentional. It doesn’t explain everything immediately, and it trusts you to sit with its ideas. Themes of grief, human connection, rebuilding, and hope are woven deeply into every character and every mission. By the end, the story hit me way harder than I expected. What starts off weird slowly becomes sincere, emotional, and surprisingly human. Gameplay Yes, it’s a delivery game. And yes, that’s exactly why it works. Managing your balance, planning routes, building structures, and helping other players (without ever seeing them) creates a unique sense of shared effort. (i can understand people who didnt enjoy it tho) The online elements are subtle but powerful, seeing a bridge someone else built or leaving signs for strangers makes the world feel alive in a quiet way. Combat exists, but it’s not the focus. Survival, patience, and problem-solving are. World & Soundtrack The world feels empty, but never lifeless. And when the music starts playing while you’re walking through rain, mountains, or ruins, that’s when Death Stranding really clicks. Those moments are unforgettable. Final Thoughts Death Stranding isn’t for everyone and that’s fine. But if it clicks, it really clicks. A unique experience that dares to be different and succeeds because of it. And okay… • Yes, I fell over with 200kg of cargo like a confused turtle. • Yes, I bonded emotionally with a baby in a jar. • And yes, I somehow enjoyed peeing on ghosts. Kojima wins. (what a game design, 10/10) Now im waiting for Death Strandin 2 for the computer...

amazing how life gets you to play this game, bought the base game on day of release because i was obsessed with kojima (still am) and was very disappointed (walkin simulator Am i right?>) . after some years i was at a low point of loneliness and decided to play this game. oh boy this game is like a shotgun to the chest to loneliness. the premise is simple:in a post apocalyptic world where everyone is alone it is YOUR job to *connect* everyone and while doing so you never feel Truly alone , this game does a great job at makin you appreciate nature and the connections you make with others. remember this is about the journey not the destination and no matter what : Keep On keeping On 10/10 from me

I almost dropped this game in the first few hours. Nothing crazy is happening. You’re just walking… carrying stuff… trying not to trip over a rock. It feels slow, a bit empty, even pointless. And honestly, that feeling doesn’t completely go away. But something weird happens if you stick with it. You start caring about the smallest things. A path that saves you time. Something left behind by someone you’ll never meet. A quiet sense that you’re not the only one out there, even though it feels like you are. And without realizing it, the game pulls you in. It follows a guy who hates connections, avoids people, keeps everything at a distance… and then puts him in a world where connection is the only thing that matters. And the people you meet along the way don’t just move the story forward, they kind of represent different parts of being human. Loss, control, guilt, time, memory… all of it. Each one leaves a mark on him, whether he likes it or not. The game doesn’t try to impress you with constant action. In fact, sometimes it does the opposite. It slows you down on purpose. Makes you sit in that feeling of “why am I even doing this?”… and then slowly shows you that not everything meaningful feels exciting in the moment. That’s probably why it’s not for everyone. Some people will hate it, and I get it. It can feel repetitive, frustrating, even boring at times. But at the same time… I feel like everyone should try it once. Not to finish it, just to see what it feels like. Because it does something most games don’t. It makes you feel alone… and then, little by little, reminds you what connection actually feels like. And by the end, when everything starts coming together, it hits differently. Not in a loud, dramatic way… just quietly. Like something finally clicking into place. I don’t know if I’d call it fun all the time. But it’s definitely something I won’t forget. 👍 Keep on Keeping on 👍

Not Just A Walking Simulator But A Cinematic Masterpiece When I bought this game, I feared that I might not end up liking it or it was just going to be a walking simulator but after playing this game, I can confidently say my worries were useless. I want to dissect Hideo Kojima's brain; he really is a man in a league of his to create such a post-apocalyptic genre-defining world. No matter what I think of the game, I'm happy that a weird, hyper specialized, experimental game with a massive budget and not from a previously established IP exists. It is new, and I'm at the point where anything new and creative in a world of remakes, remasters, rereleases and sequels is a gift. At first glance, Death Stranding sounds absurdly simple: you deliver packages from point A to point B across a broken America. Occasionally you encounter hostile humans, ghostly entities, or strange boss encounters. On paper that description makes the game sound like a glorified courier simulator. But reducing Death Stranding to that is like describing an epic journey as “just a walk.” The core gameplay revolves around traversal and logistics. Before each mission, you carefully plan your loadout: ladders, climbing anchors, exoskeletons, vehicles, weapons, batteries, cargo carriers, and more. Your decisions matter because the terrain itself is a challenge. Steep mountains, rivers, storms, and unstable ground constantly force you to think about balance, weight, and route planning. Every step feels deliberate. Unlike most open-world games where travel is simply holding forward, here the journey itself becomes the gameplay. And surprisingly… it’s addictive. The game’s asynchronous multiplayer system is one of its most brilliant ideas. You never directly meet other players, but their actions shape your world. Someone might leave a ladder to help others scale a cliff, build a bridge across a river, or construct a generator in the middle of nowhere. Eventually you start doing the same. You build things not for rewards, but simply because another player might need them. It creates a strange but powerful sense of connection with people you’ll never actually meet. Combat and stealth exist, but they’re secondary. Most of the game focuses on traversal, planning, and survival rather than constant fighting. Some players may find the pacing slow, and the mission structure can feel repetitive at times. The story also carries Kojima’s usual style: ambitious, weird, occasionally convoluted. But when everything comes together, the result is something genuinely unique. It’s strange. It’s bold. And it’s unlike anything else in gaming. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3679020342 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3679737731 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3681890494

Wow. What a game. For the first few hours I had about a hundred questions and answers to basically none of them. At some point I just stopped trying to understand everything and went with it. And that's probably the best advice I can give: just go with it. By the end, the pieces start falling into place and suddenly the bigger picture becomes clear. Really well done. I especially liked the Social Strand System. You rarely meet another player, yet their ladders, bridges, signs and structures can suddenly save your delivery. It's a clever way of making you feel connected to other players without turning the game into traditional multiplayer. Keep on keeping on.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut is still a solemn and somber game about walking through the end of the world. The Director’s Cut doesn’t transform it, but it does refine what I thought was an already distinctive vision. Underneath the delivery-sim exterior there are well architected moments of horror, sometimes even disturbing: BT encounters, timefall-scarred landscapes, spectral soldiers, and a constant fear of something unseen dragging you and your cargo under. The story wrapped around it is dense with jargon and unnecessary complexity, but the direction and visual framing are strong enough that it feels like a grand post-apocalyptic sci-fi film unfolding in front of you. It would make a great sci-fi movie. The core premise is the same: plan routes over hostile wilderness, play backpack inventory mini-games, and slowly wire a broken America back together. The Director’s Cut throws in extra tools (I loved the addition of the support skeletons), a firing range, a classic racing car and racetrack, and a few combat-focused missions that reek of Kojima’s Metal Gear influences. It’s mostly welcome quality-of-life improvements that make the hard labour and stress more accommodating, and we get a shiny set of new toys to play with. For achievement hunters, this is a long, methodical grind of collecting memory chips, maxing facilities, and delivering everything to everyone. It's both an endurance test and sobering skill check: grindy, stressful, but quietly satisfying. I say that as someone who platted it on PS5 and is now deep into a second outing on PC. If the original left you cold, this won’t change your mind. If its somber world clicked for you the first time round, this is the best and most enjoyable way to (re)experience it. For newcomers to Kojima, it’s a high-risk, high-reward gamble, ideally on discount. It’s impossible to predict a reaction to this game but if it lands, it really lands proper. Go in expecting something strange and overindulgent, but hoping for something quietly brilliant.

Hideo Kojima made a delivery simulator that mistakes tedium for profundity, and somehow convinced critics that walking in a straight line for six hours while listening to exposition dumps is "visionary." Death Stranding is the most expensive walking simulator ever made, and the walk itself is the only honest thing about it. The gameplay loop is genuinely one of the most boring things a AAA studio has ever shipped: pick up packages, walk to destination, put down packages, repeat. The "challenge" is managing cargo weight and balance, which creates maybe thirty minutes of interesting puzzle-solving stretched across a 50-hour game. BTs (ghost enemies) demand stealth sections that feel tedious rather than tense. The asynchronous multiplayer (structures from other players) is neat conceptually but amounts to "look, someone built a ladder for you" — which is touching until you realize you've seen the same five locations seventeen times and you're still walking. The story is Kojima's maximalist fever dream: celebrities as glorified NPCs (Norman Reedus stares into the camera, Mads Mikkelsen exists menacingly in the background), philosophical rambling about human connection that could've been a TED talk, and a plot that doesn't cohere until hour 40 when it suddenly explains everything you've been confused about, making you realize the confusion was the point. The pacing is glacial — cutscenes outnumber gameplay, characters repeat the same exposition ad nauseam, and the "story" equates to "the world is broken, here's why" followed by "fix the world by delivering packages." The racing minigames are aggressively pointless. Some voice acting is wooden (Norman Reedus sounds like he's reading cue cards). The PC port has limited graphics settings despite demanding a beast of a machine. And the fundamental problem: none of this is fun. It's not even engaging in an intellectual way — it's self-important busywork masquerading as art. Kojima made a bold bet that audiences would confuse "different" with "good," and critics mostly fell for it. The 91% positive reviews are the gaming equivalent of the Emperor's New Clothes — everyone praising the vision while ignoring that the core activity is genuinely tedious. Skip it. If you want meditative gameplay, play Outer Wilds or A Short Hike. If you want ambitious storytelling, play literally any Kojima game from before he became obsessed with celebrity casting and pretentious nonsense.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
