This game dude I actually love Hideo Kojima because for once he didn’t make us wait 7–10 business years for a PC port, somehow this came out way faster than expected and that alone already feels like a win Starting with performance, this port by Nixxes Software is smooth like butter, I played around 140 hours and the game crashed only twice which is basically the game politely telling me to go touch grass, only small FPS drops when connecting a new facility with the QPID, overall it runs clean which is rare these days Gameplay wise this is NOT just a delivery simulator anymore now you’re fighting MULEs, CCs, new BTs, and carrying enough weapons to start your own mini army, guns, throwables, gadgets, and somehow you can summon BTs in-combat Also the game is way easier compared to the first one, like the first game made every step feel like life or death and here you’re just more confident, more tools, more freedom, less stress, Kojima basically reduced the pain but kept the confusion The setting is bigger now with Mexico and Australia, but you’re mostly in Australia Traversal got a huge upgrade, you can build roads AND MONORAILS, and trust me connecting a whole continent feels more satisfying than it should, and if that wasn’t enough you can now ride a coffin board, yes a literal COFFIN, because normal transportation was too boring for this game There’s more to do now too, not just deliveries, you get side missions like elimination, destruction and more, so it actually feels like you have options instead of just being a full-time courier, and mechanically the game fixes most problems from the first one, everything feels smoother and more flexible depending on how you want to play Progression is faster as well, you unlock vehicles and power skeletons early The story is still very Kojima which means it’s confusing, weird and sometimes feels like it’s going in five directions at once, pacing is a bit odd compared to the first game but the last few episodes are insane, like genuinely better than most movies, it’s chaotic but emotional and somehow still works Visually this game is on another level, character models, lighting, environments everything looks crazy good, at this point I’m convinced the devs have access to a secret better version of reality that we’re not allowed to see The world design is easily one of the best parts, it’s quiet, empty and kind of depressing but still beautiful in a strange way, there’s environmental storytelling everywhere The loneliness is still there so don’t expect the game to guide you all the time, but that’s also what makes it special, you feel isolated but not completely alone Also shoutout to Dollman, bro is basically your companion giving constant commentary like your personal narrator, reminds me of Mimir but in full Kojima style which means slightly unhinged, honestly I wish Dollman and Tarman had bigger roles because they deserved more screen time The first game made me enjoy delivering packages, this game made me care about HOW I deliver them, my route, my gear, my strategy, everything matters more now smh And yeah I actually 100% completed this today… and I’m not gonna lie it was grindy, but also weirdly satisfying, the kind of grind where you complain the whole time but still keep playing A lot of people still call these games walking simulators and yeah some parts still feel like that, but this one is way more fast-paced and engaging, you can move faster, fight more, do more, it’s just a better flow overall If you liked the first game, this one will ruin it for you because it improves so much, and if you didn’t like the first game, this might actually change your opinion Is it weird? yes Is it confusing? obviously Is it one of the best games ever made, annoyingly yes This should’ve been GOTY no debate Easy 100/10 again, extra points just because it’s a Kojima Productions game

I really enjoyed the first DS but this one just didn’t land for me. In a lot of ways the story feels like it’s just a rehash of the first game but much worse. There’s a whole cast of new characters who, despite following you around for the entirety of the game, never feel like they’re properly fleshed out. On top of that you have a character who is, quite literally, attached to you at the hip, whose only purpose seems to be to break up the game’s silence by making annoying comments that are almost never acknowledged by Sam anyway. The gameplay itself is a bit of a nothingburger. There are a bunch of new weather effects that seem really interesting at first, like earthquakes, floods, sandstorms, and wildfires, until you realize that these basically never show up outside of scripted moments. There’s trams which you’ll likely use one or two times and never again. And there’s also a huge truck meta where, even without building roads, you can drive basically everywhere.

One day, you play a game so good that it defies your simple expressive abilities, leaving you wondering how you can, because you want to so badly, communicate such greatness to other people. How can you describe so many emotions, characters, and their phenomenal portrayals, or a story so wrapped around itself yet so simple? What really makes this game so magical is that, despite being a story written by Kojima, it’s so unbelievably simple when you strip it down to the basics. What a fascinating contrast: Sam, the humble porter, reconnecting the world… one delivery at a time. People who played the first game will remember the smile and gratitude displayed on the faces of the isolated inhabitants of the UCA as you delivered them their medical supplies, a lost t-shirt, their favorite tabletop game, or the device they needed to filter drinking water. No matter what it is, you were there, Sam, you delivered, you saved countless lives, and you brought the whole of America together. Sam finds himself in the same shoes once again. Except everything is bigger and better now. Everything in this game is an improved and refined version of the previous game. There’s so much to see, so many different tools to get the job done, and the same genius of players coming together to help one another build and repair structures and make other porters safer and happier. The music is really a tune to the ears. I can say so many things about the soundtracks, every song is delightful, some will make you cry, and some will make you laugh. The game’s greatest and most pivotal moments are amplified to infinity by beautiful music that will make your heart ache and eyes water. The terrain variety introduces new gameplay mechanics, and the weather, too. The weather effects are really well done, gameplay-wise, sound, and visuals. Raindrops or snowfall, thirsty deserts or flooded rivers, bottomless lakes or sky-touching mountains, forsaken masses of land or thick forests, all winding up and down to create both a challenging and enjoyable world to walk in. I highly recommend playing this game with a controller and not a mouse and keyboard, a controller that supports haptic feedback. You will feel the raindrops in your hand, and the vibrations are implemented in a way that is just as important as music during cutscenes or fights, missing them could hurt the overall immersion. Not to mention, holding R2/L2 to regain balance is a classic. A light-pink morning where, from where you stand, nothing can be seen but an endless horizon of milky clouds, made colorful by the shy sunshine that has just risen, atop the snow-clad mountaintops. Or a moon so giant that it feels like it's about to crash into earth, so white and glorious in its black backdrop of nothingness, its light so vast that the stars, around it and elsewhere, fade away. Sam, in either case of the previous, and for all that goes between them, is delivering and reconnecting while overwhelmed with sadness and grief. To play Death Stranding 2 is to experience complete loss and utter defeat, but unlike the previous game, Sam is not alone… not anymore. “You will never be alone, Sam. We will always be with you”. To play Death Stranding 2 is to experience friendship, solidarity, self-sacrifice, regret, evil, and manipulation. But, I feel, most importantly, is to experience love too. Love that permeates everything, the same love that allowed for such a creative game to be made, both lore-wise and in real life, and for such an amazing story to be told. Norman Reedus is made with an unnatural amount of charisma and mystique that situates him perfectly to play this role. To say he was born to play Sam Porter Bridges would be an understatement. Like many things in this ever-so-short life we live, the only way to truly experience it and know firsthand what it is like is to touch it and to try and be one with it. In games, it is to play the game yourself. If you loved the first one, you will absolutely lose yourself in the second. When I’m playing something that I love, I don’t want it to end, but of course, it always does. I feel so sad that this… thing is over and cannot be experienced again for the first time… but that’s life. Like the first game, this one too has become one of the most special games I have played. I will always cherish its memory, in this life, on my Beach, and in the hereafter. See the sunset… The day is ending… Let that yawn out… There's no pretending…

Spoilers ahead: Death Stranding 2 is a way more polished, player-friendly, and just downright fun take on the Death Stranding gameplay loop. There are more ways of traversal, more ways to deal with enemies, more ways of dealing with BTs, etc. In short: if you liked the first game for its gameplay and want to play that game again, only this time Kojima decided to give you a personal arsenal that would make Doomguy blush with you ripping and tearing your way through simple enemy encounters left, right, and centre, then this game is for you. Unfortunately, this shift in tone has sanded away all of the interesting edges that made the first game such an interesting artistic experience. While the original game presented players with one of the most cohesive and interesting worlds ever put into a video game, it also explained said world in such great detail that Death Stranding 2 doesn't have any way of expanding this world any further. With the world-building being at essentially 0, a lot of the weight is therefore put on the shoulders of the game's characters. And unlike Sam, who is clearly capable of hauling 300 kg of "bazinga material" over a mountain pass for a VTuber science girl that rewards him with a hat that forces him to say "Peko" a bunch, the surrounding characters aren't capable of picking up a snail without crumbling to the ground before taking their first step. The three girls on your ship are indeed girls. You can see that by the way that they jump around, giggle, and gossip like a bunch of ten-year-olds; meanwhile, most of them have a backstory that should leave them scarred for the rest of their lives. The year is 2026 (in-game it's way beyond that). Sam mentally and physically suffers more than any man or woman ever has, yet the best his crewmates can do is to tell him to pick himself up by his bootstraps and remind him that another settlement needs our help. Seriously, if these same characters were part of a Bethesda game, most people would be making memes out of them and endlessly talk about how stupid they are. But because they look realistic, exist in a Hideo Kojima game, and do awesome anime moves on occasion, they get a pass. How am I supposed to feel any sort of tension when basically every person that dies in this universe returns in one way or another? The question of "Do Frankenstein-like monsters have their own souls and beaches?" was one of the many interesting ones left unexplained in DS1. Not only does this game just give you a blatant "Yes, they do." but even when they give Deadman a well-deserved goodbye as he decides to go swim with the fishes, he just returns later because apparently the heart houses the soul, or something. One of the few deep and interesting debates that happen in this game (Should humanity forgo their bodies / natural states and exist as souls without pain and suffering?) is literally ended by a character arriving out of nowhere, doing a K-pop dance and Fortnite emoting all over the place, telling us, "Nu-uuuh, that can't happen :3", solving the problem for us. And I guess that I'm supposed to stand up and clap as that happens? Just how I'm supposed to stand up and clap at the random guitar-riffing battle that occurs as the world is nearing its destruction? Don't worry, if DS3 ever happens, Kojima will find a way to retcon Fragile's entire story arc in this game. Similarly to my TLOU2 review, I can see the vision. The technology on display is incredible, the visual clarity of the game is insane. The fact that this game has no issue rendering the ending battle or the first "Nirvana" scene is nothing short of technological magic, let alone in a time where popular engines like UE5 can't even render an empty room without massive frame drops. The enemy design is awesome, the world and premise are superb. It's just that much of what happens in between feels like it completely misses the mark of what made the world of Death Stranding so interesting to begin with. 5/10

The original Death Stranding was a game that really, honestly inspired deep change in me. To be kind to other people, to open up- To connect with others. To forgive. I had very deep trauma, and that game was the perfect remedy at the perfect time. When i heard a second game was coming, i started crying at just the announcement. Now, having finished the main story and continuing to keep on keeping on, reaching for that ever elusive 100%. And i don't 100% games as a rule of thumb; Death stranding is just that special to me. The gameplay is easier than the first game, perhaps to reflect the benefits that connectedness brings us, the world is as beautiful, if not more, than the original's. The music is just perfect, as always, and the story is.. way more personal than last time. Deals with loss, dealing with that pain. Coping with it. And it does it so well, i cried at multiple points during my journey across the Australian continent. This game is special. It is undoubtedly a work of art, and a great one at that. it is not for everyone, nothing ever is; but this is as close as it gets, with concessions made for people who wanted more action. I just.. wow.

This game is a spiritual sequel to MGS4. The aesthetics, game design, story beats, everything. This game is actually just a full-on do over of MGS4. I'm half-kidding, but there is something so MGS4 at the core of this game and it rears it's head in every little facet of Death Stranding 2's overall design. I can admit calling this game "MGS4: 2" is hyperbole, but if you understand MGS4 as deep as I do you'll see all the same pretty colors I'm seeing. Speaking of pretty colors... Death Stranding, now as a franchise, really has a knack for bringing back that classic PS3 color grading. You don't see it a lot anymore, but there is this drab, blurry coat of grey that just coats everything in this game. It's so beautiful. Even though this game isn't as solitary and isolating as the first, it still exudes that same nature of the death of everything ever. It's sort of a best-case scenario apocalypse, everything still looking this beautiful-- lord knows we'd fry all this ♥♥♥♥ up in a real apocalypse like real talk that's how you know this ♥♥♥♥ is capital F "Fiction". My girl kept leaning over my shoulder as I was playing this and rolling her eyes at the menial tasks I was performing. Zipline to zipline, idling on the monorail, driving through rough terrain to rebuild roads, falling off cliffs. I had to turn back to her with a big ♥♥♥♥ eating across grin on my face like "Would you believe that this is the fun version of the first game?" And honestly that sounds a little disparaging, I still love the first Death Stranding, but there is no aspect of DS2 that makes me want to put down the controller. Everything works together in perfect synergy. I want to keep rebuilding roads, I want to help expand some online random's network of ziplines, I want to raid all these enemy bases, I want to 5 star everything and get all the weird items this game has to offer. In the first Death Stranding? I was just going main objective to main objective-- and by the time I was 2 hours off from the end of the game, I dropped it entirely for maybe 6~ months solely due to how much of a slog the mountain was in that game. In this one? ♥♥♥♥ man I'm actively going back to the mountain, I'm making sweet love to every angle. I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the ♥♥♥♥ out of the mountain. I'm doing it bigger than anybody has ever done it before. Coffin Board right down the side of that ♥♥♥♥♥ like I give a ♥♥♥♥, slinging Special Alloys and Ceramics out the side. ♥♥♥♥ you. I'm not even done the game yet. I'm probably a couple hours of gameplay out, and factoring in the 1-4 hours of cutscene that may or may not be waiting for me in the endgame I probably still got a good 8 hours to go before the story's wrapped. But beyond that, I still want to do every little thing in this game, really juice the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing. I built my computer in like 2017~ and I'm getting pretty decent frames at high settings with my archaic GTX 1060 so honestly ♥♥♥♥ everything and throw this game into your cart right now.

Partial spoilers ahead. Compared to its predecessor, this game is mellowed out. There's just nothing about it. It got hit with the "your favorite game has been adapted for mainstream audiences". From traversal, to delivery, to story, it's just worse in every way. The one exception, I believe, is the gear assortment. I find the expanded arsenal KIND OF fun, and I still have a road-paving addiction. The arsenal expansion would have been SO FUN to play with inside a game with actual challenge to it. Let me tell you the details on exactly how this game disappoints, if you're a fan of Death Stranding 1: The traversal: Everything is too flat and too easy. You unlock an entire HOARD of equipment, but the game is so painfully EASY, the terrain so horribly unchallenging that you never have to think or use it. Even on the hardest difficulty, there is zero brain activity involved. There's ZERO reason to plan routes, zero reason to think about equipment, zero reason to do anything. You unlock vehicles extremely early in the game and then there isn't ever a reason to use anything ever again. Ever heard complaints that DS1 was a walking simulator? Well this one is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Euro Truck Simulator instead. Not even halfway through the game I found myself BEGGING Kojima on my KNEES, PLEASE give me a challenge, PLEASE GIVE ME ANY REASON TO BRING A LADDER. PLEASE give me ANY REASON to think instead of holding W. No. Not only that but the terrain is just so easy that you don't even NEED Sam in this game. 90% of the entire damn continent could be linked up with a wind-up toy with the Q-pid glued to it. The path from one connection to another is a straight line. It's downright frustrating how mindnumbingly easy it is. There is no overcoming. There is zero sense of pride or accomplishment. You never get a dopamine hit from reaching another person. There's no "I made it" feeling, EVER. The gear you have unlocked is staring at you straight in the face like it mocks you, because to actually try and use traversal tools would be a straight efficiency and ease downgrade compared to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ truck. Even for scaling "difficult terrain" the truck is superior. Exoskeletons? Forget those. Ladders? Nawh. Climbing anchors? Unnecessary. Heating packs? Needless. Deep water? Tar? Slope? River? Canyon? Maze? Rocky terrain? Snow? The best traversal option is truck. On the story: It is kind of abysmal compared to DS1. There's no sense of mystery or wonder at any point. I struggle to narrow down where it fails. What I hate is that the Extinction and Death Stranding as a whole exist as a mere backdrop right now. It feels like humanity no longer struggles. There is no feeling of darkness or hope against a hostile world, nope! Everything's under control, we functionally beat the Stranding guys! We actually harvest it n ♥♥♥♥ and build all sorts of crazy technology and it doesn't affect us really anymore, it could very well not even exist. Especially the phenomena of individuals like Rainy make the struggle feel pointless, with Tomorrow's presence, and discoveries like timefall resistant animals etc, it's just... arbitrary. Nothing feels dangerous or special anymore, because everyone and everything is. The beauty of DS1 highlighting the resilience of human spirit against the cruelty of the universe is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gone, man. I'll be waiting outside. Past some point, I felt like I'm watching a cheap superhero movie where everyone is more special than Sam. On top of it I feel like the lore of death stranding itself has zero application here outside of gameplay, like you could rip the death stranding out of this game and the story wouldn't have meaningfully changed. Everything takes a backseat for boring interpersonal drama with zero stakes. I hate what they've done to the characters, I hate what they've done to Sam in particular. At no point do I feel required or pivotal to anything excepting the game deciding that I am, for some unbeknownst reason. Anyone could take a Q-pid, get in a truck and drive these 200 meters from shelter to shelter. The narrative feels to somewhat revolve around Sam and his loss of Lou, except it doesn't really. We get some expansion of personal history of Sam's wife, and the events concerning her and Neil Vana are far mor important to the plot than anything you've ever contributed. It reminds me of Destiny 2's storytelling model where you complete an activity and watch two people more important than you have their story unfold in front of you and you just act like the go-here-do-this silent cameraman. A spectator to your own life. Everything that was terrifying was systematically dismantled, and every stake was driven into the ground. My mind goes to how marvel and DC create a million stories where someone dies but they're too afraid to actually commit to it so they just bring them back in a later release. The story has zero weight and zero consequence. Worst of all? Not only does the big reveal ruin the found family trope from DS1 about Lou being genetically Sam's kid, but the sorrow of losing a child is undone by literally bringing Lou back as Tomorrow. Found family ruined. Grief and coming to terms with loss ruined. The message of the game gets ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ obliterated from high orbit the very second it could have meant something. I swear to God, it's like watching blockbuster slop wearing the peeled skin of my beloved IP. --- The positive things I have to say is that the expanded arsenal is kind of nice. Structures feel way more interesting, and so do weapons. I enjoy the backpack attachments, the vehicle customization is very nice (I just wish there was any reason to put on anything else than extra batteries). My particular love goes to Level 2 roads, and angled ziplines. I would have loved these in death stranding 1. Monorails are interesting, but I'm not a big fan of watching my screen idle for minutes on the end. Mines are a wonderful concept, and a great way to procure resources. Tranq Handgun and Sniper fondly remind me of MGSV. There's a lot of extra stuff, like BT hologrenades, stealth and decoy nades, smokes, EX nades, it's so nice, it really is. The game just suffers from a terminal case of "it's too easy so you're handicapping yourself by using infiltration tools instead of just mowing everyone down with the shotgun". Unlike DS1, I feel like the game doesn't have real replay value. I am still going to 5-star everyone - but it just feels like wasted potential every moment I play. It makes me sad. I hope DS3 is more like the original than this game. The only thing I'd really pass on from this one are weapons and structures. If you enjoyed DS1, there's a chance you will still enjoy this game, but high chances are you will play heartbroken, every moment of the game seeing what could have been instead of this. I think it's still worthwhile to play it if you liked DS1, but I feel like it's a game made for people who hated the original. Despite my enjoyment of it, I must leave a negative review, as I hate the direction this game decided to take.

So much to do. So many cargos to deliver. So many places to go. So many various ways and methods to travel. So many weapons to choose from. So scared of BTs I am. So expert of a guitar I became. So many cool cut-scenes to see. So pretty, this Elle Fanning is. So cute, this Shioli Kutsuna is. So cool, this Léa Seydoux is. So weird, this Kojima's story is. So much fun I had. So sad that I finally finished the game.

It builds up on the previous game’s gameplay and enhance it in every way. The story is good, with solid companions arcs and cinematic cutscenes, but Sam seemed to me kinda not as involved as he was in the first game, and again, crazy story, especially in the end. The pacing of the cutscenes is good, you won’t get bored if you are one of the people that doesn’t have patience, and the gameplay is addictive. The game is good overall. Death Stranding 1 and 2 are peak games, recommend them strongly. Play the first game before this one, so you get the full experience.

Absolute Kojima.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

The central themes of connection, isolation, grief, and humanity's relationship with technology feel even more relevant today. The game's emotional climax is widely regarded as one of Kojima's strongest endings in years. The core loop remains familiar: transporting cargo across dangerous terrain while reconnecting isolated communities. However, nearly every mechanic has been expanded and refined. The traversal mechanics remain the heart of the experience, but the additional action and stealth options prevent gameplay from becoming repetitive. Players who found the original too slow may find the sequel significantly more approachable. Visually, the game is stunning. Powered by the Decima Engine, it delivers some of the most impressive environmental detail seen on current-generation hardware. Vast deserts, rugged mountains, violent storms, and surreal supernatural landscapes create a world that is both beautiful and unsettling. The soundtrack is equally memorable, blending atmospheric music with emotional story moments in classic Kojima fashion. Strong performances from the cast help elevate even the strangest narrative sequences. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a remarkable sequel and one of Hideo Kojima's strongest works outside the Metal Gear era. It refines the original's bold ideas rather than replacing them, delivering a more polished, more emotional, and more entertaining experience from beginning to end. If you enjoyed the first Death Stranding, this is essential. If you were intrigued by the original but struggled with its pacing, the sequel offers a much more refined version of Kojima's unique vision. 9.5/10 DISASTER | BAD | MEDIOCRE | OKAY | GOOD | GREAT | AMAZING | MASTERPIECE Reviewed on: Win11 Home 64-bit, Intel i5-11600K, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB PRIME, 32GB DDR4-3600 RAM, 2 x Kingston NV1 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, Internet Broadband 1000/1000 Mbit If you like this review, then please consider giving it a thumbs up.

Allright heres a small review of mine. Death Stranding 2 is a great sequel. It builds up from the first one. If you liked the first game, you will like this. Yes its quite surprising, i know. This game here is more "fast paced" than the original, you are given a lot of gadgets and vehicles very quickly, maybe even too fast? Anyway i personally liked the slower pace from Death Stranding 1 more but of course you get to choose what you use and when you use so it doesnt really matter that much. Nevertheless i feel like the sequel was made to be easier than DS1 and at the same time it lost some of its charm. I played on the hardest difficulty (to the wilder) and only challenges i found were giant BT fights where i was almost one shotted if i was too slow to dodge. Allright i admit some normal mech fights were also pretty hard because of overwhelming numbers, mix of melee and ranged units. Will i be writing more about these mechs? Nope. There is also a lot of variety to weapons and gadgets in this game, have you ever wanted to throw rubber pizza at someones face so hard that they go unconcious? Well you are in luck because here you can do that. You can throw robot dogs at enemies, you can deliver packages while surfing on a coffin, there is also martial arts involving...uhm...pizza making skills? I have to say this somewhere, this game having so much gadgets and weapons managed to remove "spooky" aspect from BTs. Walking around with an arsenal on your back and you can blast your way throught everything. You could basically do it in DS1 too yes, but with a very limited weaponry. In first game you had to choose if you would take lethal or non lethal weapons with you. Some weapons worked against only BT's and some only against humans. In the sequel 95% of your weapons are non lethal and they work against pretty much anything, human, bt or mechs....No need to plan your approach regarding weapons. Its surprisingly hard to kill people by accident in this game. Sam the man has hit like at least 20 bandits with his mail truck and they all have lost just their consciousness and maybe some teeth? (Though im not sure what happened in DS1 when you did that.) There is a bigger map than the last time, more buildings for you to make. New additions are mines and monorails. You can restore 9 mines, you can also upgrade them to produce a loads of materials for you. And you are going to need them while you are rebuilding everything. Monorails are also a great addition because with them you can transport your huge load of materials from the mine to somewhere else with no problems. If you loved the snowy mountain from DS1, you are also in luck because there is a mountain here bigger and badder than the first one. I still have fond memories while travelling that mountain on foot, zero battery, zero stamina, zero speed, zero chlorobiotes in my pockets, floating carrier behind me filled with 600kg of stuff and things. Oh right and because the mountain is so tall, the air is thin there and if you run out of oxygen youre going to pass out. Ahh yes...best hours of my life... (You can get an oxygen mask if you get some stars with one of the residents living in that mountain.) BTs BTs BTs...There are new BT's in this game yes. New BT type is called gazer and they uhm...gaze at you. I really like the sounds that they make, they are kinda unsettling, and when they die the sound is pretty eerie and memorable. I feel like DS2 underutilizes BT's and gives the spotlight to the mechs. Then there are couple of giants BTs and then there are even bigger BT's. The word bigger doesnt really make them justice. I should probably mention here that at one point of the game you get an item that lets you capture big BT's and then you can summon them to fight against each other. Like some sort of pokemon battle. Story wise i dont really know what i can write here. Its a great story, has peak cinema moments, weird kojima moments, great soundtrack, it has pretty much everything. This games story is a bit predictable which is weird to say about kojima game. Im sure that this story resonates more with people who have family and kids. Death Stranding 1 focused on the isolation and loneliness and this sequel focuses more on the connections that we create and how they last. Ending of the DS1 lives rent free in my head and now this games ending is going to live there too. Getting pretty crowded. Very epic and memorable ending, worth the journey. For me it took like 150 hours to compleate but i was also trying to 100% the game. When i was embarking on the final mission i noticed that i had compleated only about 197/400 deliveries. So now that the story is over, im heading back to upgrade all of the roads, monorails, mines, well everything. "Why?" you may ask, well its because i just like the game and its gameplay loop. If you are reading this it means that you somehow got though all of my yapping. Because of that i hope that you will have a wonderful rest of your day.

-- Positives -- • Probably the best looking video game on the market • Acting is, just like in DS1, top of its class • Gameplay is similar to DS1 but more refined, more gadgets and tools • Much better UI than DS1 • Environments are more varied and more difficult -- Negatives -- • Story suffers from being a sequel to a "solved" story. • Some gameplay elements feel like an unnecessary copy-paste from DS1 • Much of the dialogue is extremely hand-holdy; it feels like they're explaining things to a toddler • The latter half of the game can feel a bit on-rails -- Notes -- • With plenty of side-content the game can be beaten in around 60 hours. • Game still occasionally crashes and has audio bugs, but it's being worked on and has gotten better since release • Runs fairly well, can have occasional dips during bad weather events. -- Review -- If you liked Death Stranding 1, you're sure to like Death Stranding 2 as well. Basically, DS2 can be boiled down to "more of the same, but more refined". The same gameplay of traversing difficult terrain and forging paths between destinations while carrying large amounts of cargo remains the same, and many of the gadgets and tools from the first game make a triumphant return here, but with various improvements to controls and interactivity. Unlike the first game, DS2 tasks you with connecting various nodes throughout a different continent than North America, namely Australia this time, but unlike the real Australia, Kojima Productions have taken some considerable artistic liberties with the topography. The real Australia doesn't have a giant mountain that takes up most of the space of South Australia and Queensland, but it cerainly does here, and Tasmania has essentially been reduced to one massive city connected to the rest of Australia by a bridge. DS2 continues the story of DS1 about 11 months later, and it once again sets you out to meet various colorful characters with very on-the-nose names in both Mexico and Australia. But I personally feel like the story suffers a lot of the "solved story" problem that some sequels have. I can draw a parallel to Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West in this regard. Death Stranding 1 and Horizon Zero Dawn's stories were both about uncovering the grand mystery of why the world looked the way it did, and once that mystery is solved, what else is there to do to keep the grand narrative going? As a result, the story doesn't feel nearly as grand or interesting, and like Forbidden West, DS2 decides to go the route of exploring smaller, personal relationships, and the grand story takes a backseat. The narrative drive of DS2 this time around is the mystery of the origin of Lou, Sam's adopted daughter and former Bridge Baby companion of the first game, but it's only something that shows up every once in a while, while the rest of the story is about the crew of the DHV Magellan, the ship that can travel in the tar and teleport basically anywhere. DS1 was often criticized for having a convoluted story, and the same can certainly be said for DS2, but DS2's story telling is more streamlined and more direct, with less emphasis on disconnected flashbacks, and being better at explaining the strange and psychedelic concepts going on. But even so, it's sometimes hard to take the story seriously when you have a talking marionette doll called "Dollman" acting as your therapist, a captain of a ship that can sail on tar called "Tarman", and everyone keeps explaining everything to you as if you were born yesterday, from story beats to how individual tools and upgrades work. Kojima has a very bad case of "tell don't show", and this is very evident in DS2. The acting, however, is top notch, and this is arguably one of the best looking games ever made. The set pieces are impressive, the character models are almost photo-realistic, the lighting is superb and there are several scenes that will have your jaw drop to the floor with its impressive visuals (if you know, you know). The music is also an excellent selection of classics and new songs written for the game, and are great at setting the mood throughout the game, which will take around 50-70 hours depending how much side-content you decide to engage in. All in all I can definitely recommend DS2 if you enjoyed DS1 and want more of that, but I will also say that 80 Euros is a very steep price, even if it is AAA. If you can find it somewhere for 60 or 70 Euros, I would definitely grab it.
