This is the best indie game ever made and probably one of the greatest games of all time. The amount of fun I had playing this game is unmatched. No other game has managed to entertain me the way Cuphead did. The cartoon art style is the cherry on top, and the gameplay loop is so addictive that you never get bored of it. I've beaten this game countless times on both Regular and Expert difficulty, and I've even completed it deathless, yet I still can't get enough of it. Every boss fight is so much fun , and mastering each boss is incredibly satisfying. I still come back to it from time to time, and that's actually why I uninstalled it. If I keep Cuphead installed on my PC, I end up playing it instead of trying other games. That's how addictive and enjoyable it is for me. I only wish I could experience another game like Cuphead again in my lifetime. 10/10 a masterpiece that every gamer should play at least once.

    to preface my review, i would say i am a "cosy gamer" - i love to play sandbox games, the sims, visual novels and some old-school platformers. my boyfriend has been wanting me to play cuphead for the longest time, and i've always been quite apprehensive to do so. he, on the contrary, thrives in brutal, difficult games like spelunky, don't starve together and of course, cuphead. while he loves a challenge, i use games to unwind! i eventually (hence the low game time on my account) completed a decent chunk of the game on his account, before getting a copy for my own. now that i have more or less hit the ceiling with cuphead, i wanted to give an honest review as someone who doesn't play these types of games! firstly, it must be acknowledged how much of a painstaking, meticulous project cuphead was for everybody involved from studio MDHR, particularly for the animators. what a labour of love to create a game that so closely mimics animation of the '30s! some of my favourite environments were the gorgeous, glittering, disney-esque evil kitchen of chef saltbaker from the delicious last course, the sly speakeasy of ribby & croaks and dr. kahl's robot, whose design reminded me of the iron giant. that said, every level had some level of beauty to appreciate and marvel over. nonetheless, i still really struggled through the first isle. i was yet to understand that the run & guns were typically more difficult, and the stress led me to make a lot of silly errors. after hobbling from isle 1 to 2, the second boss i chose, unbeknownst to me, was grim matchstick. despite his reputation in the community, he was the boss that made things *click*. fortunately (and unfortunately), i also earnt my first A rank on grim matchstick. from that point, my primary objective was not only survival, but to obtain high rankings! having a new mindset on the game let me breeze through cala maria & rumor honeybottoms, two bosses that previously frightened me! i genuinely think that for fellow people who don't play high-difficulty games, having the "click" moment will feel all the more rewarding. once the mechanics of the game begin to make sense, it becomes far less intimidating and more rewarding of an experience :) some tips i have for any new players that are starting out: - your hardest bosses won't necessarily be the ones the community speaks of. for me, it was djimmi the great & wally warbles who gave me hell! - you can always come back and earn higher ranks when you're a little more adept at the game. - don't feel guilty about using everything that the game gives you - especially DLC items. ms. chalice, the heart ring, auto parrying - whatever will give you a better baseline to enjoy the game and thrive! not everyone is going to be a cup or mug main, and that's ok! i'm personally not going to be. - TAKE BREAKS! sometimes the biggest thing your brain needs to complete a level is the refresher of time ♡ the only major con i have is that currently there aren't enough options re: accessibility in the game. the biggest barrier i encountered while playing the game was visual clarity! i can't imagine how difficult the game is for people with visual impairments of any kind. persistence and perseverance can be really rewarding, and that's something i learnt through cuphead ♡ if you're anything like me, i hope this review can appeal to you and encourage you to give cuphead a try!

    An artistic achievement for the ages It is often rare to find a game that can, without a shadow of doubt, be considered a masterpiece since the first moment you pick up the controller to play. I could spend all night talking about the level design, art, mechanics, soundtrack, gameplay and difficulty. However i feel that anything i say won't be able to do justice to what this game accomplishes. I can assure you that there won't be another game like Cuphead ever again, and that's plenty of a review for anyone still thinking about playing this.

    Шедевральная игра и шедевральный DLC. Cuphead. 2017 год. Studio MDHR.

    История про живых кружек лудоманов которые по самые трубочки влезли в долги. Звучит как бред сумасшедшего, на деле-бред сумасшедшего с великолепным геймплеем который заставит тебя страдать и чувствовать себя опущенным на протяжении всей игры, это если что всё плюсы игры, а не минусы как вы могли подумать. Рекомендую к покупке тем кого давно не имели в зад!

    -Quick Review- Cuphead is a 2d “Run and Gun” where the first thing you’ll want to do is rebind your shoot button to something you can hold down at all times, so you can gun while you run. Then you will proceed to get beaten up by the various colorful bosses and enemies until you learn the attack patterns well enough to pass the level and move on to the next level. I felt like I ran into a brick wall until I slowly knocked each brick out and was able to limp through to introduce my face to the next wall. Cuphead was developed by Studio MDHR Entertainment Inc and released in 2017. It’s absolutely insane that the developers took the time to make the game using “traditional methods” by HAND drawing then water coloring and having their own jazz recording. But that’s what takes Cuphead from being merely a good “run and gun” game and boosts it to an inspiring work of video game art. Review Video: If you don't like reading, or are curious about watching gameplay check out my video here: https://youtu.be/mEznF6KfXcY -Detailed breakdown review- Story: Our protagonists are Cuphead and Mugman. Apparently, they didn’t learn the lesson “gambling sucks”, and the more important rule regarding gambling which is “The house always wins”. Well, Cuphead and was on a hot streak, and made a deal with the literal Devil. The foolish little Cup got greedy and of course the dice were loaded so he lost the bet, and now you gotta help Cuphead and Mugman collect the “Soul contracts” from all the different zany characters so that the Devil will spare them. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3638041696 Gameplay: Cuphead is hard, but the controls are simple, movement to the right or the left, duck by pressing down, aim up by pressing up, jump, shoot, charged, shot, switch weapon, aim mode and a dash button. the most technical part of cuphead is the parry which is used on “pink” attacks/enemies/particles. The User Interface is simple too in the bottom left you have your hit points and the status of your charged shot. I would say there are 3 game modes: Brawls, Airplane Mode, and lastly Run and Gun. The brawls are the easiest to explain, normal controls, you carefully watch the boss to see what move they’re going to use and then dodge, think “Mega Man or Sonic the hedgehog boss fight” without the rest of the level. The Airplane game mode is different, because you move around 2d space as an airplane this game mode feels more like a side scrolling shoot-em-up or a bullet hell. Your charge shot changes, you don’t have any charms or shot customizations, you do have a choice between shooting regular straight shot, or lobbing bombs which will arc down from your character. You also have a shrink move which shrinks your hitbox making you harder to hit… but also decreases how far your shots travel, so it’s a risk/reward kind of move. Lastly the Run and Gun modes, which you do just that, run through a level to get to the end. Lots of different smaller enemies will drop in on you and respawn, so don’t get too comfortable staying in one place to wait and think. There are coins in the run and gun game mode which you can collect to buy equip able weapons and abilities from “Porkrind's Emporium”. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3638042497 Conclusion: I really like Cuphead on several levels. The gameplay is a bit tougher then I’d prefer… however without that difficulty you could blow through the game in a couple hours, so I understand how you can get really hooked on getting good at Cuphead… especially if you invest the time to really learn the attack patterns and what cues to watch for. And that’s about the worst I can say about cuphead. The music is really freaking classy. The old 1940’s cartoon style is *chef’s kiss*. If you’re good at 2d platformers, run and gun games, probably a lot of old classic retro console game skill would apply here. If you’re good at those I think you’re in for a real treat with Cuphead! I’ll just conclude this review by saying we’re lucky to be living in the timeline where we got such a great game!

    Cuphead is honestly one of the best platformers I’ve ever played. The art style is absolutely amazing. The gameplay is challenging, but in a fun and rewarding way. Every boss feels unique, and beating a difficult level gives a great sense of satisfaction. I didn’t run into any bugs or technical issues at all, and the game runs super smooth from start to finish. Everything feels responsive and well optimized. Overall, Cuphead is an incredible game with great gameplay and good artstyle. Definitely a must-play if you enjoy platformers or challenging games 10/10 in its category

    "Cuphead" is not a game. It's a high-precision simulator of testing relationships with a keyboard/gamepad, as well as a young soldier's course in Zen philosophy. Pros: Visual. I'm ready to frame every frame of this game on my wall. The retro style of the 1930s is so clean that it feels like it was actually found on an old film reel. The developers' hands are truly golden. Music. Jazz that makes your feet tap to the beat, even when the boss crushes you for the third time in 10 seconds. Gameplay. It's honest. You always know why you died: because you made a mistake. No randomness, just you, your jump, and the guy with the huge head who shoots diamonds at you. Cons: The risk of hypertension. My friends stopped talking to me because for the past two weeks, I've been replying to messages with the phrase "Now, just one more attempt on this damn clown." Verdict: If you want to test your sanity, enjoy the art, and experience the euphoric feeling of surviving 200 deaths,

    Incredible videogame. Miraculous that beyond the immediately fascinating hand-crafted visuals and spectacular soundtrack, they managed to create such a solid and challenging game. Within the main progression and achievements, it is fair and very rewarding. The DLC content is very polished and also introduces new movement options and playstiles in the progression. It's certainly for enjoyers of platformers and for those looking for hitless-adjacent challenges. The fun of the game is improving in the situational use of the shots and charms, getting the movement down, and learning attack patterns. Beware of the wonky default keyboard controls and the inconvenience of setting up two-player mode. {About the hour count: I started playing on the xbox store in 2018 and have 87 hours there. Buy it on Steam; I encountered no bugs playing it here, while the other version was a bit of a headache.}

    I put off buying this for a long time, because I'm not a fan of games that attract the "git gud" crowd, but after I played and liked hollowknight and silksong, and am an old Rayman 1 veteran, I still gave it a try and.. it's just not fun, at least for me. No checkpoints in a level, no collectible lives, no exploring, no gameplay besides bosses and run&gun as far as I can see, no anything. Basically if you lose a live early on you can just restart. I usually try a bit more for such games, but even after just a few levels I saw that I won't be having fun. Maybe someone's bucket of chicken but not mine. That game ranks for me under "probably best enjoyed on youtube"

    В основном не нравятся 2D игры, но CUPHEAD стал исключением. Невероятно стильная игра, боссы и персонажи. Озвучка свина продавца порадовала. Геймплей по началу напрягал, но когда разбираешься как игра работает, становиться проще. Эта игра из разряда хардкорных, но мне принесла очень много веселья. С каждой смертью я все больше понимал, как работает тот или иной босс. И вот где CUPHEAD начинает мне нравиться больше, того же Dark Souls 3. После проигрыша, не нужно пол года идти до босса, все начинается с начала боя именно с боссом, это прекрасно. Таким образом довольно просто получается разобраться в механиках противника, ведь не приходиться каждый раз идти через кучу мобов. Однозначно рекомендую к покупке и про ДЛС не забывайте, оно тоже очень крутое!

    Easily one of the greatest platformers I've ever played, it's basically perfect. Control response is sharp (I used a PS5 controller, the D pad gives the precision I feel I really needed) and if you make a mistake it's 100% on you and not the controls, I love games like that. It's also worth mentioning that Kristofer Maddigan was my most listened to artist of the year I played this, because the soundtrack is PHENOMENAL I was obsessed!! The jazz vibes are unlike anything I've heard in a game, also I don't think many games can say they have actual tap dancing in its music 😍 Cuphead is also one of the few games I've truly understood the appeal of gruelling difficulty and feeling actual rage I felt like crying, because the ultimate high of finally beating the biggest challenges in the game also lowkey made me cry 😂 Absolutely unbelievably well balanced challenge in my opinion, I had to come back and beat the whole thing on expert and got all the achievements, just loved the suffering that much. The DLC also just adds more of the same great content, awesome art style and love-hate relationship pain. Mostly love though.

    Arguably one of the hardest and most mechanically demanding games I've ever played. Crushingly difficult, yet still fair. The game is designed in such a way, that you feel like it's your own inability holding you back and not the game. You get frustrated with yourself rather than the game and that's good design. The game is graphically stunning. The hand animated enemies, background and designs are wonderful. Especially the more chaotic bosses have wonderful details mixed into their respective arenas. Honestly really enjoyed my time with it. Boss fights are fun, run and gun levels and plane levels not so much. The game feels very rewarding and overcoming the challenge is part of the fun. The DLC is more of the same fun just dialed up on the difficulty and designs. I can only recommend this game, it's really good.

    The problem is that i'm fighting the game's controls more ,than the bosses on keyboard,like wdym i cant change the interact keybind, and cant set mouse controls? Who's idea was this? Im not gonna play on controller because of a game. And i dont want to script just because of a poorly made game. Dont buy it if you gonna play on keyboard and "mouse"

    Купил по скидке и прошёл на все ачивки. Больше не хочу возвращаться в игру из-за кривых хитбоксов, рандомных атаках боссов и спавна мобов, а также лютого дисбаланса оружий и чармов (некоторые оружия и артефакты просто никогда не используются, а лоббер/бумеранг и дымовая шашка пройдут игру сами). ДЛС приносит в игру имбовое оружие (щелкунчик), чармы (кольцо и амулет) и чашу, которая ломает баланс осторовов основной игры. В общем, визуал красивый сделали, а про геймплей. З.Ы. игра ху*ня, самолётик ещё хуже
