good job valve, add a new mechanic no one wanted. Who is asking for gameplay changes? There are rage cheaters in almost every premier game, deathmatch and the other game modes are filled with ai bots farming cases, and the movement and hit reg is still much worse than in csgo. maybe fix these you morons instead of changing the mechanics and adding chicken skins

I gave Counter-Strike 2 a fair chance, but after 26 hours, I don't find myself wanting to continue playing. The game has lost its appeal for me & eventually started feeling repetitive in much the same way Rust did. The core gameplay loop is simple: queue up, play a match, attack or defend, win or lose, repeat. There is nothing inherently wrong with that formula, but after enough matches, I started feeling like I was doing the same thing over & over without getting anything particularly meaningful out of it. What initially makes Counter-Strike interesting is also what eventually makes it repetitive. The maps, weapons, strategies, economy, rounds, positioning, & familiar objectives are designed around repetition & mastery. If you enjoy endlessly refining your performance, there is plenty to learn. But if that competitive loop doesn't keep you motivated, there isn't much else to fall back on. Eventually, it started feeling like another modern competitive multiplayer game rather than something that stood out to me. The experience reminded me of Call of Duty ranked matches, Search & Destroy, Valorant, & other competitive shooters where the primary purpose is simply to queue into another match & repeat the same fundamental objective. The presentation may differ, but the structure can start feeling remarkably similar. That's where Counter-Strike 2 lost me. I don't necessarily need every game to have an elaborate story, massive progression system, or hundreds of hours of content. But I do want to feel like there is a reason to keep playing beyond improving a number, ranking up, collecting cosmetics, or proving that I can perform slightly better in the next match. The Skin Economy Is Another Problem The amount of attention surrounding Counter-Strike's skins is difficult to ignore. Some cosmetics can cost hundreds, thousands, or considerably more, turning what should fundamentally be game customization into a highly speculative virtual-item market. That market can be extremely volatile. Prices can rise, fall, fluctuate with supply & demand, updates, market sentiment, item availability, or broader interest in the game. Something that appears valuable today isn't necessarily going to retain that value tomorrow. That creates what I see as a negative-equity risk for people who treat skins as investments rather than entertainment purchases. You can spend substantially more than an item is ultimately worth to you, especially after transaction fees, price fluctuations, or a decline in demand. To me, the ecosystem can also resemble a gambler's paradise. I'm not saying every person who buys or trades a skin is gambling, nor am I making a legal classification of the market. I'm referring to the speculative mentality surrounding opening cases, chasing rare items, trading, watching prices fluctuate, & hoping something purchased today becomes more valuable later. That entire economy is simply not something I find appealing. It also contributes to the feeling that there isn't much meaningful content being added to the actual game itself. When so much attention can be placed on cosmetic rarity, inventories, cases, trading, & market prices, I question whether that adds meaningful gameplay or simply gives players another reason to remain financially invested in the ecosystem. It Starts Feeling Like a Treadmill That's the bigger issue for me. Another match. Another rank. Another weapon. Another skin. Another case. Another price fluctuation. Another attempt to improve your statistics. Then queue again. That isn't inherently bad, but eventually the competitive aspect stopped feeling rewarding & started feeling like another treadmill. That's the same problem I eventually had with Rust. Rust constantly asks you to start over, gather resources, build, fight, lose everything, wipe, & start again. Counter-Strike doesn't have wipes, but it has its own version of repetition: Queue → play → win or lose → adjust → queue again. The difference is that Counter-Strike's repetition is structured around competitive mastery rather than survival. For some players, that's enough. For me, it isn't. I also think the game's reputation can create expectations that don't necessarily match everyone's experience. Counter-Strike has an enormous history behind it, but that history alone doesn't guarantee that the current experience will appeal to every player. After 26 hours, I found myself asking a simple question: What am I actually looking forward to? Another match? Another rank? Another round? Another attempt at improving my aim? Another cosmetic? Another case? Eventually, the answer wasn't enough to keep me interested. That's why I don't recommend Counter-Strike 2 for someone who is already tired of repetitive competitive shooters. If you enjoy the competitive grind, tactical gunplay, learning maps, improving mechanical skill, collecting skins, & constantly trying to perform better, you may find plenty to appreciate here. But if you've already experienced the same basic formula through Call of Duty, Valorant, Search & Destroy, ranked shooters, or games like Rust, Counter-Strike 2 can feel like another version of something you've already played. For me, the game became repetitive, lost its appeal, & eventually felt more depressing than entertaining. What started as curiosity turned into another endless cycle of matches that I didn't feel particularly motivated to continue. The skin economy only reinforces that feeling for me. I don't want my enjoyment of a game to become intertwined with volatile virtual-item prices, speculative spending, or the possibility of losing significant value on cosmetics that have no practical gameplay benefit. 26 hours was enough for me to realize that Counter-Strike 2 isn't for me. I don't hate it. I just don't see the purpose in continuing to invest more of my time or money into a game whose primary appeal is repeating the same competitive loop indefinitely. Not recommended.

Title: A Masterclass in Tactical Evolution – Counter-Strike 2 Review When Valve announced that they were finally moving their flagship shooter to the Source 2 engine, the gaming community held its collective breath. How do you replace Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, a game that defined an entire decade of competitive esports and amassed a fiercely loyal player base? The answer, it turns out, is Counter-Strike 2—a brilliant, calculated evolution that modernizes the iconic formula while fiercely protecting the competitive core that made the series legendary. It is not just an update; it is the definitive competitive FPS experience. A Visual Masterpiece: The Source 2 Engine The most immediate and striking change in Counter-Strike 2 is its beautiful art direction and visual overhaul. Powered by the impressive Source 2 engine, the game has been brought up to modern graphical standards without losing its clean, readable aesthetic. The lighting is the real star of the show here. The way sunlight bounces off the cobblestones in Inferno or reflects off the glass in Overpass is breathtaking. Materials like metal, water, and brick look remarkably realistic, adding a layer of immersion that the franchise has never seen before. Maps have been entirely rebuilt from the ground up or meticulously remastered. The visual clutter is kept to a minimum, ensuring that player models pop against the backgrounds. This ensures that the game remains mechanically clean and visually readable, an essential feature for a fast-paced shooter where fights are often decided in a split second. And for veterans, the seamless porting of all beloved CS:GO skins into this new, glorious lighting engine is a massive and welcome bonus. The Game-Changer: Dynamic Smoke Grenades If there is one single feature that redefines the tactical depth of Counter-Strike 2, it is the responsive, volumetric smoke mechanics. Smokes are no longer just static, clipping gray spheres. They are fully dynamic, volumetric objects that naturally fill spaces, seep out of broken windows, and roll down staircases. More importantly, they react to the environment and gameplay. A well-placed HE grenade will temporarily blow the smoke away, granting a split-second window of visibility to catch an enemy off-guard. Spraying bullets through the edges of a smoke cloud carves momentary sightlines through the haze. This completely revolutionizes map control and utility usage, keeping matches incredibly dynamic. It forces both veterans and newcomers to rethink decades-old strategies, injecting a fresh sense of discovery into the timeless tactical gameplay. Gunplay and the Sub-Tick Architecture At its core, Counter-Strike has always been about the pure, unadulterated thrill of clicking heads, and the gunplay in CS2 remains incredibly tight, silken, and skill-based. The introduction of the sub-tick server architecture is Valve's ambitious answer to server responsiveness. The system is designed so that the server knows the exact millisecond a player fires a shot, jumps, or peeks an angle, moving away from the old 64-tick limitations of its predecessor. When everything clicks, the shooting feels exceptionally crisp. Executing the perfect flank, holding a tight angle, and securing a clutch round feels just as heroic and rewarding as it ever did. The movement is fast and smooth, rewarding players who take the time to master mechanics like counter-strafing and crouch-jumping. It is a game where aiming skill is highly valued; to win a firefight is a genuine testament to having outplayed your opponent. Sound Design, Audio, and the Ghost Music Kit Audio is half the battle in tactical shooters, and Counter-Strike 2 brings a completely revamped audio system. The sound design is significantly punchier and more distinct. You can accurately pinpoint whether an enemy is stomping through the mud, running on metal grates, or dropping from a ledge, making spatial awareness a vital tool. For players looking to elevate their audio experience beyond standard game sounds, Valve's integration of community and artist music kits adds an incredible layer of personality. The standout addition is the Ghost Music Kit (Skeletá), bringing the theatrical, occult-rock brilliance of Ghost into the tactical arena. Hearing the sweeping, melodic hooks and haunting undertones—especially when your triumphant round win or MVP anthem blasts out tracks reminiscent of infectious anthems like Mary on a Cross—transforms clutch moments into a cinematic heavy metal spectacle. It injects a brilliant, stylish flair into every match, proving that tactical focus and fantastic musical taste can coexist. Furthermore, the User Interface has been stripped down and modernized. The buy menu is now an easy-to-read grid that allows for loadout customization before a match, giving players more agency over their economy and strategy. The Gold Standard of Esports Counter-Strike 2 is an unyielding, back-to-basics shooter that doesn't rely on gimmicks, hero abilities, or convoluted loadouts. It is undeniably difficult, demanding precision, patience, and a willingness to learn. However, this high skill ceiling is exactly what makes the game so endlessly compelling. Whether you are climbing the Premier ranks with a dedicated squad or watching the best players in the world clash on the professional esports stage, there is always a new tactic to learn and a new skill to master. Final Verdict Counter-Strike 2 successfully walks the tightrope of innovation and preservation. It takes the greatest competitive shooter on the market and gives it the technological foundation it needs to thrive for another decade. With its stunning visual upgrades, revolutionary dynamic utility, and flawless gunplay, Valve has proven once again why they are the masters of the genre. It is, quite simply, the gold standard for competitive multiplayer games. Score: 10/10 – An absolute must-play.

I'M LEAVING A BAD REVIEW SO VALVE WILL FINALLY TAKE ACTION AND STOP THIS CHEATER MADNESS! I have never experienced this many cheaters in my 20 years of playing Counter-Strike. Previously in CS:GO, you had to actively spectate and watch demos closely to find out if your opponent was cheating or not. Nowadays, you don't even need to look for them. They are just there. If you join Casual: 1-3 cheaters in total every game. If you join Premier, I'd say every second game has 1-2 cheaters. And I'm not talking about suspicious gameplay; I mean clear wallhacks, and sometimes aimbots, though they are not as common as wallhacks. If you join any Deathmatch, you'll find full lobbies of bots farming weekly drops with inhuman reactions (of course, they are not human) and the ability to kick you or disconnect when you spectate them. They sometimes appear in Casual too, but I have seen only about 4 obvious bots outside of Deathmatch. I'm sad that they let this happen to my favourite competitive game. And I'm even sadder for all the players who are still willing to spend their money on skins and cases for a company that doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about your experience in their game as long as the money is flowing. I am very disappointed.

CS2 still has excellent core gameplay, but the online experience is completely ruined by cheaters. :csgo_headshot: :csgoct: Too many matches turn into “is this guy actually good, or just walling?” VAC feels almost useless. :csgo_dead: :csgohelmet: For a competitive game, this is a massive problem. If players cannot trust the matchmaking, ranks, or anti-cheat, the whole system loses credibility. Valve really needs to fix the cheating problem and make VAC actually effective instead of treating it like background decoration. :csgoanarchist: :csgogun:

Agency map got removed, it was the only way to motivate me to play this game and learn the mechanics. it's premise was to storm the top floor of a skyscraper to rescue hostages. no other map comes close to the atmosphere that agency provides. granted the map is supposedly unbalanced, so I guess that is the reason for it's removal, but still, I miss being able to que up an Agency game whenever I feel like it and chill with a video playing in the backround. what I suspect is that Agency got removed due to it being unpopular amongst the playerbase, so that is the reason for my downvote

It was a good game BUT.... Valve have not even try to do anything about the cheaters in the game at all. This game just gets worse. I like the gameplay and to play it with friends but yeah this is not Counter Strike, this is Cheater Strike. The Devs and Valve dose not care at all. You can cheat, you get a VAC live and then you have a cooldown and after a while you get to play once again. Wellcome to Cheater-Strike 2.2! We wellcome everyone who use blatant cheat!

It sucks. it went from a shooter that had cosmetics into a casino with a shooter to it. Game feels like ♥♥♥♥ to play, performance sucks, subtick is horrible, non existant anticheat, nothing out of gameplay is worth talking about. CSGO even if it was old it was still miles better than whatever the ♥♥♥♥ this is.

Counter-Strike 2 is one of the most perfectly balanced competitive games ever made. What makes CS2 so good is the balance between the Counter-Terrorists and Terrorists. CTs generally have the advantage of holding sites, playing angles and using defensive positions with weapons that suit that style of play. Meanwhile, Terrorists are often at a disadvantage when attacking those positions, but they have access to powerful rifles capable of a one-shot headshot, giving skilled players the opportunity to completely turn a round around. That balance makes every decision matter. You can have the perfect setup and still lose because the other team outplayed you, hit the right shot or found a better way into the site. No two games feel exactly the same, and even after thousands of rounds, there are always new situations and plays that happen. The gunplay is incredibly satisfying, the economy adds another layer of strategy, and the combination of positioning, utility, aim and teamwork makes every round feel meaningful. And then there are the skins. They don't change the gameplay, but they add an unreal amount of personality and collectability to the game. The weapon finishes, knives, gloves and combinations people create have become an entire part of the CS experience. CS2 isn't just about shooting people. It's about decision-making, positioning, timing, economy, teamwork and mechanical skill. The fact that both sides have different advantages while still having realistic ways to overcome them is what makes the game so addictive. 10/10. Somehow I keep saying "one more game" for the 500th time.

sh*t game. Many cheaters. Watch youtube learn mechanics and still every time you get on to play someone will have paid extra for aim hacks or wall hacks. so all in all after 250+ hours why did I learn to play something that out of 10 online match ups there will be more then half those games someone toggling or blantley cheating all those rounds entirely. Better off buying a premium game ... oh wait this was supposed to be one.

Unplayable Premier/comp because of cheaters, unplayable Deathmatch because of bots. Cs2 made a really good progress to feel more responsive and snappy. Gameplaywise, the game still doesnt feel as responsive as CSGO did, but its at a pointy where after so many hours, i can accept it. Game itself actually plays pretty ok. Could be better tho. However cheaters are so bad, that litteraly 70% of games on green trust factor at 15-20k premier have at least a single cheater. This makes the game unplayable. It's not a normal counterstrike gameplay, now its just how can we outplay a retarded person who is cheating. If they fix cheating, then i have a reason to start the game up again.

After a 15-year break, I finally came back to Counter-Strike. The last time I played seriously was back in the good old CS 1.6 days, so jumping straight into CS2 was a massive cultural shock. The difference is absolutely huge! The game has become so much more realistic, the graphics and physics (especially the smoke grenades) are next-level, and the gameplay feels incredibly fluid. It's the perfect mix of nostalgia and modern technology. Highly recommended, especially if you want to see how the shooter of your childhood has evolved!
