As a lover of MW2019, this sequel felt different, better in some ways and worst in others. Now, I have no idea why I see so many negative reviews, cuz by all means, it's not a perfect Call of Duty, but let throw a hot take: the COD community doesn't even know what is a good Cod and are filled with nostalgia. MW2022 was one of the last cod games that I genuinely enjoyed through campaign and multiplayer. I appreciate the little evolution of the gameplay be less solid from mw2019. Weapons are amazing and the style is not boo boo ahh black ops 6. CAMPAIGN The campaign is great enough for its characters, not just Ghost and Soap. The plot and moments are less grounded and impactful than MW2019, which is a 9/10 for me. To sacrifice the grounded look of the game, they gave us a campaign with more charisma. It means more funny bits, characters saying cool ahh quotes and not so great antagonists. Missions in comparison with mw2019's, aren't as good at the beginning. I feel that there are a bit too many sniper missions and the last bit of the final mission is just disappointing. I know that it feels like I'm saying "the camp is bad", not that bad, just saying that the characters are cool (Alejandro, Valeria, Phil Graves, Sheperd, GHOST & SOAP, Price and Gaz) but the missions design are not as good as mw2019. Don't expect a deep beautiful story, just a sort of Hollywood movie that wants you to love an ideal experience of a soldier where you feel INVINCIBLE, tough and funny. I don't want to make a whole sections for multiplayer because it's cod, there isn't much to say cuz it's the same thing every year. BUT I do recommend it if you are planning to build up an enjoyable arsenal. cuz the guns are cool and you can make pretty cool brutal finishers without seeing rainbows. 8-/10

Settings are broken. As they include all COD versions under the "Call of Duty" game, you cannot refund it as you will have more than 2 hours of playtime if you have played any other game. Feels like a scam.

Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare.

I bought a single-player campaign, not an advertising billboard. If you want to play the Modern Warfare II campaign, get ready for the most convoluted, bloated launch process ever designed. You cannot just click "Play" on Steam and start the story. Instead, you are forced to boot up "Call of Duty HQ," a unified launcher designed entirely to shove Warzone updates, battle passes, and overpriced store bundles in your face. Here is the actual process to play the single-player game you paid full price for: - Launch the game on Steam. - Wait for CoD HQ to load. - Scroll past all the ads, pop-ups, and menus for games and modes you aren't trying to play. - Dig through the UI to find the MWII Campaign and click it. - The game tells you it needs to restart to switch modes. - Sit there while the game closes and reboots itself. - Get hit with the classic "Update Requires Restart" message. Do it all again. It is completely absurd that I have to jump through the hoops of a live-service multiplayer ecosystem just to play a solo, narrative story mode. The campaign itself might be fine, but Activision's absolute disrespect for the player's time and immersion ruins the experience before you even fire a bullet. If you just want a seamless, plug-and-play single-player shooter, look somewhere else.

Had the potential to be the best modern CoD if it continued to get updates. I bought it 2 years ago at half price because I missed the old DMZ days I had played for free. If you want to play Search and Destroy mode in CoD, I don't think there's any other option than MWII. Aside from fictional weapons, I like almost every aspect that people hate of this title. 90% off seems a very reasonable chance to give it a try.

I bought this game only for the campaign, not the multiplayer, and after finishing it I can say it's definitely worth it, especially now that it's only $6.99 on sale. The story was really good and kept me interested from start to finish. The missions are fun, the gameplay feels great, and it took me around 6–8 hours to finish. For the price, I honestly have no regrets. The only thing that annoyed me was some technical issues. There's a bloom/lighting bug in a few missions that makes it hard to see sometimes. Also the launcher is kinda weird. Every time you open the game and want to play the campaign, it has to restart itself first before the campaign actually launches. It's not a huge deal, but it gets annoying after a while. Another thing is the graphics settings. If you want to change them, do it before starting the campaign. If you try to change them while you're already in the campaign, the game can freeze or just stop responding, so you have to restart it again. Other than that, I really enjoyed it. If you're buying this just for the campaign like I did, I think it's 100% worth it, especially for $6.99. I'd definitely recommend it.

I bought this only to play the campaign, not the multiplayer, and after finishing it I can definitely say the campaign is amazing. It probably has one of the most realistic stealth mission. The graphics, cinematic, and gameplay are absolutely top-notch. BUT this games comes with tons of bugs and glitches... There is a mission where an enemy drops landmines from a truck on the road, and you have to kill him while driving on that road. But for some reason, the moment the cut scene ends the truck vanished. So you won't be able to kill them and the mission won't end, it's just become an endless driving game ... you drive while avoiding those mines and eventually you will die. I guess only way to fix it restart the whole mission . And i did this SIX TIMES then the truck finally appeared. Now the worst part of the game ... The moment you click on graphics in the campaign, the game screen gets stuck. I don't even know in which graphics settings I'm playing. My friend has a 1660 Ti, and he can't even play because the default settings lag, and he can't lower the graphics. The changes you made in the launcher doesn't apply to the Campaign. And one more thing - you click on play it first open the launcher and when you click on campaign it close the main game and open a new application to play campaign mode. You can't refund this game either; it will show main COD playtimes. So all these campaigns are basically DLCs. Absolutely nasty market strategy.

When I turned on the game after a long time to help my best friend earn achievements, the moment the music—specifically, the song "Modern Warfare II"—played through my headphones, the entire 600 hours I'd spent playing the game hit me in an instant. It was like being hit in the face with a bucket of cold water. My brain summoned distant memories. Suddenly, I heard the laughter of my friends I'd played with years ago, their curses when we lost matches, and playing together during the events the game threw at us when it was still receiving support. Ms. Sahar Schachner did a wonderful job with the music, creating something so immersive and nostalgic that the theme song evokes my deepest memories, despite my serious memory problems, from the very first chord. Every (almost) Call of Duty game is built the same way, and this one is no different. You're thrust into the middle of a conflict, shooting to some people, but it doesn't matter which ones or where, or whether shooting Mexican citizens won't spark a fierce national conflict. And it doesn't matter if we're in a foreign country and we've blown up Mexican infrastructure. That wouldn't land us in a military court. You go from point A to point B, sometimes Price will beat the crap out of you, and then Ghost will be telling you jokes about half a dog. And that's it. For the time it was released, graphically it was one of the better-made Call of Duty games. Operators models and skins are two completely separate issues. The operator models were well-made, and the developers paid close attention to detail, aiming to replicate the actors' appearances 1:1 in the game (Price's model has small moles on his nose, just like the model/actor). The concept of skins in this game was completely out of sync with the atmosphere and essence of the game, which should be brimming with testosterone, blood, and war. Meanwhile, the developers kept shoving rainbow-colored, unrealistic skins into the game and us, depicting the Easter Bunny or even Nicki Minaj. It was abstract to me how, while playing, Snoop Dogg would suddenly kill me with a pink gun. It was the moment I knew we were doomed. The SFX here are simply excellent. Sound design turned out here really well. Often, after finishing a long, hours-long session, I'd have ambient sounds playing in my head, and as I drifted off to sleep, my brain would repeat "Ultra One, your squad has inbound Platoon of enemy Operators heading your way" like on a tape, over and over again. The servers would sometimes catch on fire at random moments, making it impossible to enjoy the game with friends. Optimization is essential, but forget about it when you buy this game. There's no such thing as software optimization here. Shaders take five years to load, and it's not the fault of the hardware you're playing on. Optimization may be lacking, but DLSS is there. It works, but even on good hardware, it can completely drain the GPU. I spent the most time in DMZ mode, which is still in BETA. There were glitches, of course. After all, we were free BETA testers. On rare occasions, although it did happen, after death, our bodies would teleport to the other side of the map, somewhere beneath the ground textures. Or you'd end up somewhere on the edge of the map, floating in mid-air, and your teammated were struggling to revive you while an enemy team of operators is shooting at you with a sniper rifle from a kilometer away. Absolute cinema. The UX design is pretty poor, making it seriously difficult to navigate the settings and pages. They designed it so that one button leads to nowhere, literally. There are two buttons that take you to the "Social" section, where the community tabs branch into "Party and Friends," "Groups," "Recent," and "Showcase" (?), where the Showcase tab shows even more friends. And why is Benchmark in the private matches section and not in the graphics settings? That's a good question. The Achievements tab is also unnecessary, imo. Like, why do I need that? The stats tab, at the moment, has one major problem: either the stats don't display at all, or Call of Duty forces you to play at least five matches to display them as if they weren't there (which is exactly what I'm afraid of). The interface has quite a few issues; Activision certainly didn't hire anyone good to handle it, it's utter chaos and lacks clarity. It's not even very intuitive, some things are very hidden, and you have to really dig around to find anything. Just like I always say about Call of Duty games, I'll say the same about this one: it's too expensive for a game that's no longer supported and doesn't work properly at some points. However, I can say that the multiplayer and campaign is good. We have Mexican cartels, cowboys, American errand boys and some British people. This is the last good campaign Activision has released. It's worth waiting for a sale, though.

I'm going to say it. This is a fun game. Given the current dumpster fire of Black Ops 7 and the previous game, playing Modern Warfare II in 2026 is a really satisfying experience. Slower movement, a gunsmith that isn't overly wild with non-realistic attachments, and a campaign that gave me goosebumps in some places? I'll take it! I bought it for full price back in Season 1, and I never really bothered turning back. I enjoyed the game.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022) stands out as a polished, modern, and far more refined evolution of the original Modern Warfare 2 (2009). While the 2009 classic is remembered fondly for nostalgia and its impact on gaming history, the reboot improves nearly every aspect of the experience, offering deeper gameplay, stronger storytelling, and vastly superior technical quality. One of the biggest strengths of the reboot is its incredibly smooth and realistic gameplay. The movement system is more fluid, weapon handling feels weighty and precise, and the audio design delivers immersive directional sound. Every gunshot, reload, and footstep feels more believable compared to the simpler, arcade-like feel of the 2009 version. The reboot’s engine gives firefights a cinematic intensity that the original simply couldn’t achieve with its older technology. The campaign in the 2022 reboot is another major improvement. Characters like Ghost, Soap, Price, and Alejandro are more fleshed out, emotionally grounded, and visually lifelike. The storytelling is more mature and cohesive, offering moral gray areas and deeper character interactions that give missions real narrative weight. By comparison, the 2009 campaign while iconic leans heavily on spectacle and shock value, often sacrificing emotional depth for fast pacing. The reboot revitalizes these beloved characters with stronger development and more meaningful dialogue. Multiplayer has also evolved dramatically. The reboot introduces advanced Gunsmith customization, letting players fine-tune weapons with a level of precision unmatched in older games. Maps are more detailed and tactically designed, sound cues are clearer, and the pacing is more balanced. Meanwhile, the 2009 multiplayer suffers from notorious issues: unbalanced perks, overpowered weapons, and exploit-heavy gameplay. The reboot’s focus on competitive structure, smoother mechanics, and consistent updates makes it a more satisfying and skill-based experience overall. Visually, the difference is night and day. Modern Warfare II (2022) features stunning photorealistic graphics, detailed environments, rich lighting, and fluid animations. Characters look almost lifelike, and the environments from urban streets to covert operations are packed with detail. MW2 (2009), despite being revolutionary for its time, now looks dated with flat textures, rigid animations, and low environmental detail. Ultimately, Modern Warfare II (2022) not only modernizes the foundation laid by the 2009 title but elevates it into a more immersive, polished, and emotionally engaging experience. It respects the legacy of the original while refining everything that made it popular. For players seeking a modern, cinematic, and well-balanced FPS, the reboot stands as the superior version delivering depth, realism, and narrative strength that the classic simply can’t match today.

Played only for campaign** Solid campaign, if you enjoyed CODMW19's one. Good gunplay, graphics, animations and audio with a few minor bugs. The story and writing are a little bland when you compare it to MW19 but I don't think it's worth giving it a negative review for that. After all I still had fun and didn't felt like I wasted money buying it. Get it only when it's on sale though, it would definitely not be worth full price only for the single player.

Summary: Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® II drops players into an unprecedented global conflict that features the iconic Operators of Task Force 141. ------------------------------- What is in the game: This game has a singleplayer campaign with 5 difficulties, one that's unlocked by beating it. There is also a multiplayer with many deathmatch modes, I don't know if it is active. There is a spec ops PVE mode, and some other modes. ------------------------------- Thoughts: *REVIEW IS BASED SOLEY ON CAMPAIGN This is a decent COD campaign, but in my opinion its not as good as MW2019, it just feels less realistic and has missions that are way more over the top. I also think this games missions aren't as memorable. The story is fine, but it kind of feels like you are just thrown in if you never played the warzone or spec ops of MW2019. The plot twist also isn't really done as well as the original MW2, and the story just isn't as gripping. It also felt like they were less willing to show shocking stuff this time around, which made it loose a lot of the suspense. The levels are still pretty fun, a lot of them feel a lot more open and maybe like they were just taken from warzone. I also didn't really like their stealth mechanics they added, the AI in this game just isn't advanced enough for it. The gimmick levels were here again and still a nice change up from regular gameplay. I don't really enjoy the armored enemies they added just because the icons that flash on your screen when you shoot them kind of take me out of the game's world. Overall just an average campaign, not bad not horrible, worth 70 bucks? no of course not. ------------------------------- Mid PC Optimization: It ran fine at medium settings hovering around 60. ------------------------------- Time to Beat: ~9 Hours ------------------------------- Price: ☐ Buy it full ☑ Wait for sale ☐ Don't buy it ☐ Free 70 bucks is not worth it, get it for like at most 20 bucks if its on sale. ------------------------------- Graphics: ☑ Amazing ☐ Good ☐ Average ☐ Bad ☐ Awful Looks on par with MW2019 with more variety in its settings. ------------------------------- Gameplay: ☐ Very Fun ☑ Fun ☐ Meh ☐ Bad ☐ Awful Its standard cod gameplay, pretty much the same as MW2019, only new feature is armored enemies you have to break the armor of to kill. The guns still feel incredible and are really satisfying, and the effects when shooting enemies gives very good feedback. So yeah its solid. ------------------------------- Music: ☐ Amazing ☐ Good ☑ Average ☐ Bad ☐ Terrible ☐ None Didn't really notice it in gameplay, only song that stood out is the main theme from MW2019 which still is pretty good. ------------------------------- Bugs: ☐ None that ive seen ☐ Not impactful ☑ Negatively affects gameplay 2 major bugs were very annoying, info in side notes. ------------------------------- Side-Notes: 2 major bugs I encountered, on a level with vehicles, if you get in a vehicle with a drone in the back it will make you teleport when leaving and fail the mission, do not enter this vehicle. And at the last part of the game lens flares will start showing through world geo and be really distracting. To fix clear you shader cache, let it rebuild and than load the first mission till the first checkpoint. Than you can go back to where you were and it should be fixed.
