I love this game even to this day, but hey, any friends who read this: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not try to play the multiplayer through Steam without an external client (i.e. Eye W 4 X, can't type the name properly, blame Steam), because the base multiplayer has RCE vulnerabilites that cheaters can freely exploit to hack your PC.
DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME, IT IS NOT SAFE I love this game. I really love it. You could argue it's one of the best shooters of all time, if not the best. The world pretty much stopped spinning when this released. Every aspect was flawless, especially the multiplayer. The multiplayer experience hasn't been matched in any game since. That's what sucks though. While the multiplayer servers are still active, this game cannot safely be played online. Modern Warfare 2, like several other legacy Call of Duty games, has several security vulnerabilities, particularly CVE-2018-20817 and CVE-2018-10718. This allows hackers to gain direct control of your PC via Remote Code Executions, which could lead allow them to steal personal information, install malware, or even irreparably damage your PC. These vulnerabilities been well documented by journalists and programmers, and even has dedicated pages on the United States government's National Institute of Standards and Technology "National Vulnerabilities Database". Activision knows about this problem; in 2023 they fixed the servers for console. However, Activision has intentionally and willingly allowed it to continue on PC. While there are technically some anti-cheat functions and the game receives occasional patches, cheaters and hackers are abundant. Despite this, Activision has left all multiplayer functions active, do not warn players of the extreme risk, and do not provide any customer support for the countless players affected. Because of this, some modders have made third-party remasters of the game, most of which require a legitimately purchased copy of the game. However, Activision has repeatedly given said project developers Cease and Desist orders, attempting to shut down the only potential way to safely enjoy this game. All the while, they continue to benefit from selling the game and it's multiplayer content packs, while willfully endangering those who play it. Do NOT buy this game. Either Activision needs to fix it, or Steam needs to remove it from sale. I hope for the former.

Не смотря на то, что это самая мною любимая часть из серии, покупать её (да и все игры от активижен) строго не рекомендую. Причина этому - ценник. 900 рублей за игру 10 летней давности, согласитесь, довольно скудное удовольствие. При этом получаем кампанию (даже не смотря на то,что она неплохая) на часов 7-10, спецоперациями на 5-6 часов, полумертвый онлайн с читерами и лютыми задротами с 2009 года. А если все-таки решились купить, не смотрите на длс. 10, хоть и неплохих карт, не должны стоить 1300 рублей. 9 из 10 за саму игру. 2 из 10 за ценовую политику.
5 ПРИЧИН КУПИТЬ ИГРУ Modern Warfare 2 - настоящее зрелище! Пробуждая хищника в любом из нас. В игре тысячи тонкостей и уже через какое-то время из зеленого салаги превращаешься в монстра, который успевает увернутся дабы не умереть от пуль, запрыгивая в окна перед врагом и метко метнуть ему нож в горло. Игра приковывает к экрану и не отпускает, я не шучу, мультиплеерная часть способна проглотить тебя целиком, и не отпустит никогда! Только здесь настоящее оружие. Никаких экзоскелетов, лазерных пушек и прочих отвлеченных фантазий: в игре представлено только настоящее вооружение, используемое реальными армиями мира. Винтовки с голографическим прицелом, противопехотные мины, тяжелые пулеметы - всего более семидесяти образцов самых изощренных средств уничтожения. Здесь есть все для отличной игры, а именно: сюжет, адекватное комьюнити, много техники, большой выбор снаряжения и вариантов для убийств. Modern Warfare 2 прекрасно оптимизирована, игра не требовательная к характеристикам компьютера, исправлены все баги и критические ошибки игры, все замечательно работает. В мультиплеере отсутствует система выделенных серверов, разработчики запилили революционную систему подключения игроков друг к другу. Нововведение вызвало положительную реакцию множества игроков. Поиск серверов происходит практически мгновенно. Подчеркну положительные стороны: - Никаких админов, все решает программа, забудь о читерах. - Никаких киков из-за подозрения в читерстве. - Нет никакой рекламы и доната. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 верен себе. Это красивая игра с взрывной постановкой и дико пафосным сюжетом, что замечательно подойдет, как новичкам, так и настоящим зaдpотам. Modern Warfare 2 - лучшее, что было создано командой Зампеллы и Уэста за всю историю шутеров. После их ухода COD пошла по наклонной, нынешний же штат просто не в состоянии создать нечто столь же гениальное, как Modern Warfare 2 . Только Modern Warfare 2 задрала планку для шутеров на максимум, дабы показать максимальное! И навсегда изменила лицо Call of Duty. Последняя часть в серии Call of Duty, куда была вложена душа, последняя часть серии, которую разработчики видели глазами игрока и делали по настоящему игру! Скажу по секрету, основная проблема серий: Black Ops, Modern Warfare 3, Ghost, Adwanced Warfare, WWII - это низкий онлайн, высокие требования к игре. Я не скажу, что перечисленные серии плохие, но они создавались на быструю руку, как конвейер, а маркетинг делает свое, к большому сожалению. Вспомним положительные стороны игры для ее приобретения: - Полностью на русском языке (звук\текст) - Не требовательная к характеристикам компьютера - Постоянный онлайн (в мультиплеере не будешь скучать) - Адекватное комьюнити - Забудь о читерах, забудь о киках и подозрениях в читерстве - Отличная граффика, которая не уступает нынешним играм - Божественная оптимизация - Нет рекламы и доната - Работает с Windows XP до Windows 10 32/64bit - Стоит своих денег Мне повезло, что я познакомился с этой серией. Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 Игра в жанре "Экшен", разработанная студией "Infinity Ward" и изданная компанией "Activision" в 2009 году. Игра является хронологическим продолжением первой части серии "Modern Warfare". События второй части разворачиваются спустя 5 лет после событий первой. В игре нас кинут в самое пекло Третьей Мировой войны и позволят взглянуть на нее с нескольких ракурсов. Например, от лица Рейнджера Армии США или от лица бойца элитного спецподразделения, под названием "ОТГ 141". Сюжет. Сюжет в игре очень даже неплох. В нем присутствуют неожиданные повороты, один из которых запомнился многим геймерам надолго... Игрока постоянно держут в напряжении, всё время происходит что-то новое и захватывающее. Старые персонажи по прежнему радуют, но вот о новых сказать практически нечего. Хотя это же Шутер, тут некогда сопереживать персонажам, хотя в некоторые моменты, это удается. Графика. Графика в игре хороша. Помню, как в далеком 2009 году с эстетическим наслаждением рассматривал текстуры оружия, как приятно было наблюдать за окружением. И только сейчас можно заметить, что, например, задний фон это просто неподвижная и размытая текстура. Но ребят, это же 2009 год! В то время картинка в игре была просто сногсшибательна! Музыка. Музыка в игре мне очень понравилась, да что там... До сих пор нравится. Музыка всегда играет в тему, всегда погружает в события, а трек во время открывающей заставки, так вообще, доводит до мурашек. Звуки. В целом, к звукам никаких претензий нет. Звук стрельбы не бесит и у каждого ствола он свой, неповторимый. Дополнительные эффекты способствуют погружению в процесс. Но вот озвучка... Я не играл с оригинальной, но могу сказать точно, что русская озвучка совсем не радует. В диалогах присутствуют баги. Иногда два персонажа начинают говорить одновременно, и можно запутаться в их диалоге. Иногда слова персонажа видны в субтитрах, но сам он ничего не говорит, а иногда, обрывается на полуслове. Геймплей. Ну здесь все просто, бегай, стреляй, укрывайся, снова стреляй. На этом были построены все предыдущие игры серии. Тогда это еще никому не надоело. Так же, время от времени происходят очень даже интересные моменты. Например погоня на снегоходах в мисси "Скалолаз" или побег от орды ополценцев в эпизоде "Осиное гнездо". Эти события позволяют не давать игроку заскучать. Никуда не делись и старые добрые разведданные. Любителям проходить игры на 100%, они позволят задержаться в игре еще на некоторое время. Правда теперь находить их стало сложнее. Например один из ноутбуков всё в той же мисси "Скалолаз". Без гайда, я бы его никогда не нашёл. Из нового, в игру были добавлены так называемые "Спецоперации" - новы режим, который позволит потратить еще много времени в игре после прохождения основной кампании, даже больше чем сама кампания, скорее всего. В этих "Спецоперациях", вам предстоит выполнять отдельные задания на старых картах, например разминировать 3 бомбы на карте из миссии "Осиное гнездо". Но больше всего порадовала миссия, которая происходит на карте из первой части - Припять. Это было очень неожиданно и приятно для меня, так как та миссия, для меня, была символом первой Modern Warfare, наряду с ядерным взрывом. Мультиплеер. Я не играл в мультиплеер предыдущий Modern Warfare, но в этой части мне он точно понравился. Он изобилует большим набором карт, кастомизацией оружия, его модификациями. Карты сделаны очень даже интересными. На каждой есть место, путь в который сложно заметить, например на одной из карт, что бы в такое место попасть, нужно запрыгнуть на кран, а обычному игроку может показаться, что этот кран находится за территорией карты. Так же, большого количества читеров замечено не было, однако они имеются. И обычно если читер есть, то он никак не пытается это скрыть. В наглую простреливает сквозь стены или бегает по карте со включенным "Аимом", и без зазрения совести пичкает всем игрокам противоположной ему команде Headshot'ы. Баги. Да, жаль, но баги в игре есть, и не заметить их сложно, хоть они и не существенны. Главной же проблемой является то, что в некоторых случаях игра может сама себя обнулить, то есть - удалить весь ваш прогресс и в кампании, и в спецоперациях. Это произошло со мной за два дня до написания этой рецензии. Это довольно сильно портит ощущения... Уровень сложности: Ветеран Время прохождения: 12,5 часов. Плюсы: -Сюжет -Геймплей -Графика -Музыка -Звуки -Мультиплеер Минусы: -Пустые персонажи -Озвучка -Баги -Цена Оценка: 8/10 - отлично (Поставил бы 9, но этот конфуз с обнулением, который между прочим не первый, меня очень расстроил.) Это игра в которую можно играть вечно! В течении нескольких лет, я перепроходил десятки раз на пиратской версии, а теперь еще и на лицензии 3 раза прошел! Спецоперации очень интересные, особенно миссия "Прятки", В которой мы опять возвращаемся в Припять из Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. По сюжету могу рассказать что мы будем играть за 3х персонажей (возможно и больше, не считал), Гарри Роуч, Рядовой Рамирес, Соуп МакТавиш , которые будут воевать против "злых русских", а так же вычислить план действий Макарова. В игре много неожиданных поворотов и экшона! Но для Русского сообщества есть один минус, озвучка персонажей в некоторых местах подлагивает и иногда вообще не понимаешь что происходит. В итоге могу сказать, что игра стоит своих денег! 10 Шепардов из 10
Что-то меняется, что-то остаётся прежним. Границы меняются, приходят новые игроки, но активижн никогда не снижает цены. Читайте больше обзоров от команды кураторства DreamsofGenesis. У нас вы не встретите обзоров на низкосортный треш. Хоть “Modern warfare1 и 2” признаны общественностью как самые лучшие игры серии в сравнении даже со старшими братьями от активижн, ценообразование игр 10-летней давности даже одного из лучших шутеров мне непонятно категорический. Первые части, которые бесспорно проходятся на одном дыхании через более чем 15 лет, стоят сейчас дороже “Wolfenstein: The New Order” или другой тайтл с полноценным мультиплеером и ладно бы скидки изредка давали возможность насладится вкусом старой школы за пару сотен, но мать вашу, активижн, вы в край ахели с такими ценниками и распродажами, когда ты минимум должен выкинуть на ветер 500 рублей. Ну ладно, прихоти жадного разработчика это его дело и 500 деревянных я таки отдал, прошел всю компанию на ветеране, выполнил все что только можно и ну хрен с ним что даже компания наизусть выученная проходится с потом за десяток часов, зато калоритные персонажи, зато эпичность и разнообразие топорных но красочных скриптов и ну я мог еще поставить большой палец с натяжкой, иступляя грехи за то, что в свое детство я жадно пиратил и до дыр проходя все вплодь до “black ops2”, но... Но решил я попробовать себя в мультиплеере - ну раз игра стоит 800 рублей значит, как минимум разработчики поддерживают и сетевой аспект, баланс, античит, устраивают эвенты что бы поддерживать онлайн - подумал я - нет. Мало того что никакого баланса нет из-за низкого онлайна, соответственно 90% игроков - топы 70лвл, так еще и переодический в конце раунда показывают последнее убийство, где профессиональные снайпера смотря в пол кого-то убивают непонятно каким образом - ну знаете, эти профессионалы. Ну ок, может мне за 800 рублей хотябы весь контент доступен? - нееееее, будь добр мил человек занеси еще 1300 рублей что бы тебя не выкидывало из лобби каждый раз, когда у тебя нет нужной карты. Я не буду жаловаться на неиграбельность мультиплеера ведь это не так: играть можно, если играть только в командных сражениях на нескольких картах и если вы считаете что игра стоит своих денег за предоставляемый контент то берите конечно, но я в следующий раз когда мне приспичит поиграть в старый шутер, лучше возьму medal of honor airborne. Уж там у разработчика есть совесть выставить адекватную цену. Ах да совсем забыл, есть же лучший по моему мнению шутерт Crysis2.

Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 2009 год Хорошая была игра, интересный мультиплеер, классная кампания, постоянный экшн. Никто не жаловался на лаги и недоработки, всем было комфортно, даже уютно побегать, пострелять, покидать гранат, ножей. Картинка радовала глаз, fps не огорчал и даже ping был достойный. Расстраивали лишь ребята с подствольниками и кемперы на маленьких картах, но это всего лишь часть игры, а не ее недоработка. Можно было бы и играть сейчас, только онлайн низкий из-за того, что каждый год выпускают очередную бесполезную часть CoD с навороченными пушками и ценой, которая не только кусается, но и не оправдывает вложений. Не пожалел, что приобрел ее сразу после выхода, когда в магазине "паровой машины" не было такого количества бесполезного мусора, как сейчас. Через пару лет после выхода MW2 вышла MW3 и сразу забрала 50% игроков себе, онлайн упал, остались лишь старички и беднячки, которые вместе со мной выжали последние капли из мультиплеера, после чего разбрелись на все четыре стороны. Сейчас это обиталище нечестных и чересчур профессиональных игроков, которые не дадут вам получить удовольствие от игры, так что приобретать не стоит, и еще техподдержка от неё отказалась, т.ч теперь это просто по нынешним ценам дорогой ключик в никуда. 2016 год Сейчас такие игры не делают, ибо руки разработчиков тянутся только к хрустящим банкнотам, а отсутствие энтузиазма и идей больно бьёт в район пятой точки игроков. Негодование от чересчур завышенных системных требований и цен пропускаются мимо ушей, но как бы то ни было CoD продолжает выпускать новые части, ибо они играбельны и, возможно, интересны. Но это уже совсем другие игры со своей репутацией, со своим сообществом, со своими плюсами и недостатками. Было весело! While my total playtime on Steam may look short, believe me when I say I've put in hundreds of hours into this ABSOLUTE BEAST of a game back in my early teenage years from 2010-2013 on my Xbox 360 and PS3, or as I like to call it "The Golden Age of Gaming." Where do I even start with Modern Warfare 2, this game, along with Black Ops 1 were GIGANTIC to the gaming industry back in a time when flip phones were still relevant, midnight releases for games at a local Gamestop had long lines that stretched to the end of their shopping centers, and YouTube was a place to watch prerecorded videos of people playing MW2, Halo 3, or Battlefield Bad Company 2 on ole' Machinima (Seananners, Hutch, ONLYUSEmeBLADE, WoodysGamertag etc.). Back when all the kids in school wouldn't shut up for days about their KDs and quickscope trickshots and everybody wanting to be like Ghost. Fast forward to present day 2022, MW2 may be a shell of its old self online with all the hackers on all platforms and the infamous RCE exploit on PC that LITERALLY LETS PEOPLE BACKDOOR HACK INTO YOUR PC (DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME ONLINE WITHOUT USING A CERTAIN PROGRAM WITH A "4" IN ITS NAME OR YOUR PC IS IN HUGE DANGER). Campaign and Spec Ops wise though, MW2 is very much playable, and still as good as it was almost 13 years ago. The campaign holds up beautifully, continuing 5 years after the events of Call of Duty 4 and throwing you into a world even more riddled with terrorists and traitors at every corner than in CoD 4. Now you've got the added bonus of a war between Russia and America over a massacre at a Moscow airport perpetrated by the main villain of Modern Warfare, Makarov who made it look like it was an attack by Americans. The whole game revolves around Soap MacTavish and later Captain Price, returning faces from CoD 4, to find and kill Makarov and end the war, all while also experiencing the game from the perspective of American troops fighting for their lives in a Washington D.C. mid Russian invasion. It's a short campaign compared to other Call of Dutys, but it's a campaign that's so memorable people still remember moments like General Shepherds betrayal, storming the White House, the No Russian mission, and RAMIREZ WE HAVE TO DEFEND THE BURGER TOWN!!!!! to this day. Spec ops is an entertaining bunch of missions that can be done solo or coop with a friend, that have you completing objectives during certain moments from the campaign. For each mission you do well on you get 1-3 stars that let you unlock more missions until you reach the max of 69 (noice) stars. While it was a welcome addition to Call of Duty, and MW2 developer Infinity Wards response to Treyarchs World at Wars zombies mode and the MASSIVE success that was, it still pales in comparison to Zombies in my opinion, but Infinity Ward would go on to perfect spec ops in Modern Warfare 3. Now comes MW2s main attraction, the multiplayer, back in MW2s heyday the game had thousands of lobbies littered with its infamous mic chats (you can see some of them on Youtube) where dudes with names like XxeL1TePu55ySlayXx, 420SnipezZz, or Goldbrain/Goldbrain2000 (my old PSN and XBL gamertags) would go release our pent up stress of the day by insulting each other nonstop through our cheap mics while flexing our ability to quickscope and "not" use noob tubes and commando knives. God forbid you were considered a noob or had a high pitched voice because dudes with deeper voices in middle of nowhere Michigan would have an open season on your ass in the lobbies. If you had beef with someone you would settle your differences in a 1v1 match on Rust snipers only. It was a place where a 12 year old and a 33 year old could insult each other in a lobby by claiming they banged the others mom or had a family member working for Microsoft or whatever. It was toxic, it was aggressive, it would make a Twitter users head explode these days, but it was our favorite pastime in America during a time when many of us were struggling during the great recession, and I wish I could relive those days again T_T Today MW2 multiplayer on consoles is a hacker infested mess that's no longer updated or monitored by Activision (a future Microsoft developer who knows). On PC the game is also a hacked broken mess, but with the added RCE problem I mentioned earlier. Don't bother getting the DLC for this game if you haven't already, you wont find anyone to play with and you'll just get your PC hacked. If you do wish to experience MW2 multiplayer on PC with some level of ACTUAL security go find the lovely mod with the "4" in its name online and install that (No, you wont get VAC banned for playing that, quit saying it will those of you who know what it's called). Playing with that will allow you to play MW2 multiplayer in a more PC friendly way by allowing you to customize your FOV and other settings that you couldn't before all while giving you custom maps and weapons for your classes. Sometimes you may run into a hacked lobby, but you wont run the risk of getting you PC hacked if using the mod. When you find a good game (not hard to find) you're treated to the closest thing you could get to the old MW2 multiplayer experience from back in the day. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is one of those games where the saying "You just had to be there" can be easily applied to. If you were there in its glory days then you'll probably cry tears of nostalgia like I did seeing this game and any videos about it on YouTube or even hearing the background music from the main menu on an endless loop. No battle royale, no lootboxes, no microtransactions, no always online, no goofy dances, no silly camos or attachments, no season passes. The only game to make a night owl like me become an early bird and wake up at 7am on a Saturday in 2011 to grind xp for another prestige level. To those of you who remember all this, I salute you. Oh, and one more thing... QUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't recomend playing cod games on pc, especially the old ones, due to the existance of RCE RAT exploits. So basically I can no longer play multyplayer because of some individual out there that installed a Remote Controlled Trojan on my pc that prevents me from launching multiplayer. To sum it up, old cod games (cod 1-IW) are completely unsafe to play due to their old engine that's easily manipulated, I gave in to nostalgia not knowing what's coming for me and after 90+ hours of multiplayer shenanigans I can no longer play MW2 on my pc. Infinity Ward knows about this. Steam knows about this yet the games are at full price for 10+ years. The real poblem is that IW and Steam will probably do nothing. Be extra careful everyone, resist nostalgia before you accidentally waste your money. One solution a friend of mine has found is to change your internet connection to a different router. I will try using vpn and update the post regarding the success or not.

РУССКАЯ ОЗВУЧКА ЕСТЬ!!! Не знаю, почему написано, что "не доступно на ваших языках". Я уже собрался русификатор искать после покупки. Запустил и удивился, все на русском языке. Это моя первая колда в прошлом, проходил пиратскую версию сейчас купил по скидке, решил перепройти. Радости нет предела, замечаю множество деталей на уровнях, на которые раньше не обращал внимания.
Hey kiddo, Handsome Jack here... and I just played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and let me tell you, this game has everything. Explosions, helicopters, Russians, betrayal, and enough military jargon to make you feel like you accidentally enlisted. One minute you're casually shooting bad guys, and the next you're watching everything you care about explode because apparently nobody in this universe has heard of a backup plan. And the characters? Fantastic. Soap, Ghost, Price. These guys are basically the world's most emotionally damaged action figures, and I love every single one of them. Then there's General Shepherd, who I definitely didn't trust for a second because anyone that smug is obviously hiding something. The campaign is ridiculous, the multiplayer is absolute chaos, and somehow throwing a knife across a map and killing a guy feels more satisfying than it has any right to. 10/10, kiddo. Beautiful game. Terrible leadership. Honestly, I should've been in charge.

The best one in MW series and even all CODs. You will never forget old friends in this game: Roach, soap, price, and Sheffield of course. I played this game as a child in 2009, and I am still playing this game in 2024, this game makes me relaxed and bring me back to that childhood time, the only easy day, was yesterday... Spec ops is another great invention in this game, you can team up with your friend and face against dozens of enemies include cheater - Juggernauts. Don't think my English is good enough to express how much I like this game.
Всем привет, Решил написать обзор на давно не актуальную игру но многими любимою "Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2". Я давно (с 2012 года) знаком с этой игрой но только недавно купил лицензию и ни чуть не пожалел. •Сюжет: Сюжет самый лучший из серии "Modern Warfare". Чего стоит миссия "Ни слово по-русски" которая навела большой шум и была запрещена в России (с патчами ее можно вернуть). Сюжет за "Ренджеров" мне не очень понравился так как не очень люблю тематику крутых и смелых американских военных. "ОТГ-141", эх самая лучшая сюжетная ветка в этой игре. СЮЖЕТ- 7/10 •Геймплей: Старая добрая колда со своими бесконечными пострелушками но если учитывать что это 2009 год то игра игралась тогда очень свежо ГЕЙМПЛЕЙ- 9/10 •Графика: По сравнению с "CS:GO" (она вышла в 2012 году) "Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2" выглядит намного лучше по спецэффектам (взрывы, кровь, следы от пуль). ГРАФИКА- 8.5/10 •Саундтрек: Ничего не буду говорить. САУНДТРЕК- 12/10 И самое сладкое... •Мультиплеер: Оххх, даже сейчас играется очень бодро. Смешно слышать как тебе какие то мужики доказывают что ты читер. Онлайн, игры не сразу находит но что бы поиграть 12 игроков наберется для командного боя. МУЛЬТИПЛЕЕР- 9/10 ●Вывод: Эта игра сделала большой бум в игровой индустрии шутеров. Была самой популярной мультиплеерной игрой. А сейчас стала ламповой игрой для олдов (как я) что бы прийти и поиграть с такими же людьми. Сейчас брать ее по фулл прайсу не стоит (и по скидке тоже, она будет стоит 500 руб). Если вы хотите сюжетку - пиратка. Если мультиплеер - только покупка аккаунта и обьединение библиотек. Всем спасибо что уделили внимание моему отзыву. GL HF!
Call of Duty 4 brilliantly renewed the series by abandoning WWII in favor of a modern conflict. The success of this episode and its cliffhanger ending made us wait for a sequel. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is the worthy successor we've been waiting for. Infinity Ward has taken the basics of the previous opus, while adding welcome new features. The fights are grandiose, even grandiloquent, punctuated by infiltration sequences. The iconic characters of COD4 are back, namely Price and Soap. Newcomers like the charismatic Ghost are there. The player essentially embodies two new protagonists: - Sergeant Gary "Roach" Sanderson of Task Force 141, - Private James Ramirez, a U.S. Army Ranger. The new threat is one Vladimir Makarov, a lawless psychopath who trades blood for money. The game aims to be more spectacular than its predecessor, and offers, among other things: - Fast and exhilarating snowmobile combat - An armored vehicle escort with laser guidance of its turret - The use of the Predator missile, with surgical precision and extreme power - A memorable attack in an airport, with striking realism The world is on the brink of a third world war, leaving the field open to numerous combat areas, including: - The inhospitable lands of Mother Russia, including a gulag and an airport - Favelas in Brazil, where the local militia leads the way - Wealthy neighborhoods as well as the White House in Washington DC, USA - An airplane cemetery and caves in Afghanistan The music is epic and supports the action moments. The original soundtrack is by Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe, to whom we owe epic orchestral music and some good rock. A "Special Ops" Co-op Mode is included. This consists of different missions, playable by two people. They are separated into five groups, each bringing more challenge than the last: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta and Bravo. The missions are diverse and varied, offering for example: - Kill as many enemies as possible within a given time - A player providing air support for the player fighting on the ground - Explosive defusing missions These co-op maps are essentially slightly modified COD4 and MW2 levels. MW2 is fun and even exciting, but has a few flaws: The game is too linear, the player has no freedom of action, everything is extremely scripted. It is far too easy, even in "veteran", surely to make the game more accessible to the general public. The blood looks like jam and covers too much of the screen when you're injured. Even in 2009, the title is graphically outdated, some skyboxes are really pixelated. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 improves in (almost) every way the qualities of COD4. Enjoyable and spectacular as possible, the game will satisfy fans of military FPS. Note the absence of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered on Steam.
