Sorry if my review ends up being a little long, but I hope you’ll read it all. Well, I should probably start with a little misunderstanding…, I had never actually played Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which is rather ironic, considering that it is precisely the kind of game I should have played years ago, I work in history and archaeology, with a particular specialization in the societies and historical dynamics of Alaska and the North Pacific, so questions of maritime mobility, territorial occupation, material culture, and the circulation of goods are very much within my field of interest, yet, for one reason or another, I simply never had the opportunity to experience the original game, Black Flag Resynced finally gave me the excuse to correct that omission, and after spending time with it, I can understand much more clearly why this particular entry in the series has retained such a strong reputation, what immediately interested me was not necessarily the presence of historical figures or the game's attempt to reproduce every detail of the eighteenth century accurately, what I found much more compelling was the way the game constructs a historical space through maritime geography, that distinction matters A historical reconstruction is not necessarily successful because it contains an enormous quantity of individually accurate details, It can also be successful when it manages to reproduce broader historical dynamics, patterns of movement, economic dependency, territorial organization, technological constraints, and the circulation of people and commodities, from that perspective, Black Flag is remarkably effective, the sea is never simply an empty space between points of interest. It functions as an actual transportation infrastructure, islands, ports, commercial routes, naval encounters, and different territorial scales create a dynamic geographical environment in which movement itself becomes part of the gameplay, this was probably the aspect I appreciated the most As someone who studies the historical societies of Alaska and the North Pacific, I am particularly interested in the way maritime environments can function not as barriers, but as corridors, interfaces, and spaces of interaction, obviously, I am not suggesting that the Caribbean world represented in Black Flag can be directly compared with the historical realities of Alaska, the ecological, cultural, political, and economic contexts are radically different, but the underlying principle is surprisingly comparable, historical spaces are often better understood through the movements occurring within them than through the political borders we impose on them afterward, the naval gameplay is another particularly interesting example of the compromise between simulation and accessibility, the game obviously does not attempt to reproduce the full technical complexity of historical sailing vessels, real navigation involved an enormous number of variables, hull design, draft, rigging configuration, hydrodynamic resistance, wind conditions, crew organization, visibility, currents, cargo distribution, and countless other factors that would be completely impractical to reproduce in an action adventure game Yet Black Flag incorporates just enough of these principles to create the impression that the player's vessel is actually operating within a physical environment, wind direction, speed, positioning, turning radius, weapon placement, and relative movement all contribute to the experience. Naval combat consequently becomes more than simply pointing a cannon at another ship and firing, positioning often matters more than raw firepower, that is a surprisingly good abstraction of the underlying logic of naval warfare, the boarding mechanics are obviously heavily dramatized, but I still appreciated their emphasis on materiality, wooden decks, rigging, firearms, blades, cannons, ropes, and the physical presence of the crew all contribute to a sense that combat is taking place within a tangible technological environment, this is particularly interesting from an archaeological perspective, maritime archaeology constantly deals with this relationship between technology, material culture, and human behavior. A ship is never simply a vehicle, it is a complex technological system reflecting economic priorities, military requirements, available resources, shipbuilding traditions, and the organization of the people operating it, Black Flag obviously simplifies all of this enormously, but it nevertheless manages to communicate something that many historical games fail to convey, technology shapes behavior I would never consider Black Flag a historical source in the academic sense, of course, the game simplifies social structures, piracy, political institutions, economic relationships, and the material conditions of eighteenth-century life, chronology is compressed, historical personalities are adapted to the narrative, and numerous elements are deliberately exaggerated, but I don't think that is necessarily a weakness, the more interesting question is whether these historical liberties destroy the internal coherence of the world being represented, for me, they don't The game establishes a sufficiently coherent fictional interpretation of maritime mobility, commerce, violence, exploration, and political instability that the historical atmosphere remains convincing even when the underlying details are obviously stylized, I also found Edward Kenway's progression interesting from this perspective, his story touches, sometimes indirectly, on several historical phenomena associated with maritime societies: economic opportunism, social mobility, accumulation of wealth, shifting loyalties, private violence, and the gradual integration of individuals into political and commercial networks much larger than themselves, again, these ideas are not unique to the Caribbean When studying the history of Alaska and the wider North Pacific, one quickly learns that political borders are often a poor starting point for understanding historical interaction, people, technologies, commodities, information, and cultural practices moved across enormous distances according to networks that frequently had little relationship to the borders that would later appear on modern maps, that is one of the reasons I found the structure of Black Flag so satisfying, the game makes movement itself meaningful, you are not merely travelling from one mission marker to another, you are learning a maritime landscape, gradually understanding its routes, its dangers, its economic opportunities, and its strategic geography, the world becomes legible through repeated movement, that is excellent game design, and this is ultimately why I am so glad Resynced gave me the opportunity to finally experience Black Flag, I had wanted to play the original for years, I simply never had the opportunity, and somehow it remained one of those games I kept postponing, coming to it now through Resynced feels almost like discovering a historical artifact several years after everyone else has already written about it, I finally understand the reputation, It is obviously not a scholarly reconstruction, and it would be unreasonable to evaluate it according to the standards of academic historiography or archaeological research, but as a fictional representation of a maritime world, as an exploration game, and especially as a playable interpretation of mobility, territory, technology, and circulation, Black Flag is remarkably successful For anyone interested in material culture, maritime archaeology, historical geography, or the way human societies organize themselves around networks of movement, there is considerably more going on here than the simple premise of "pirates and assassins" might suggest, my only real regret is that I didn't play the original sooner, fortunately, Resynced gave me the opportunity to finally step aboard, excellent discovery, better late than never :)

Even More Boring Than Before Visuals The only reason I bought Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced was because I wanted a colorful game to play on my OLED monitor. I have to admit, the game looks beautiful. The tropical islands, the sea and the vibrant colors really pop on an OLED display. That's where my praise ends. Gameplay The original Black Flag was already one of the most boring Assassin's Creed games I've played. Somehow, Ubisoft managed to make this version even more boring. The combat feels terrible. It has almost no impact, the animations look stiff and outdated, and most fights are literally just mashing one button over and over again until everything dies. There is almost no skill involved, no challenge and no satisfaction. It gets old incredibly fast. The enemies are braindead, the stealth is extremely basic, and the parkour almost plays itself. After a few hours you've already seen everything the game has to offer. Nothing evolves. Nothing surprises you. The naval combat is still the strongest part of the game, but even that becomes repetitive after a while. There is only so much fun you can have doing the exact same ship battles over and over again. Mission design is honestly one of the worst parts of the game. Half the missions are following people, tailing ships, eavesdropping or doing some other boring scripted activity. Ubisoft somehow managed to make being a pirate feel like a chore. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3807207067 Open World The open world is very big, but there is barely anything worth exploring. It's another Ubisoft checklist full of collectibles, repetitive side content and meaningless fetch quests. Ubisoft has always confused having more content with having better content, and Black Flag is one of the biggest examples of that. The game constantly wastes your time instead of giving you interesting things to do. It somehow feels even longer than it already is. Story The story is the usual Ubisoft slop. Edward Kenway is a meh protagonist, and I couldn't care less about anything happening around him. The pacing is terrible, most characters are forgettable, and the voice acting is as bland as ever. There is so much filler between the few decent moments that I completely stopped caring about the story. Final Thoughts As much as Mirage wasn't an amazing game, at least it actually felt like an Assassin's Creed game. More importantly, it respected my time. It lasted around 15 hours and didn't try to stretch itself into a repetitive adventure full of filler. I'd replay Mirage before touching Black Flag again. I genuinely don't understand why so many people call this one of Ubisoft's best games. I thought the original Black Flag was boring, and somehow Ubisoft managed to make this version even more boring, longer, and worse to play. The only thing I'll remember from Black Flag Resynced is how good it looked on my OLED monitor. BROKEN MEDAL Follow My Curator Page For More Reviews ⚜️

NOT RECOMMENDED — unless Ubisoft restores the missing combat mechanics from the original game. I really wanted to recommend Black Flag Resynced. Visually, this game is absolutely gorgeous. The environments, lighting, water, character detail, and overall presentation are fantastic. Seeing Black Flag brought to life with modern graphics is something I have wanted for years. But a remake should not look better while giving the player LESS freedom than the 2013 game. Some of the most memorable combat mechanics from the original Black Flag have simply been removed. You cannot freely equip and fight with the Hidden Blades anymore. You cannot freely switch to hand-to-hand combat anymore. You cannot disarm enemies and take their weapons. You cannot pick up muskets and use them against enemies. You cannot pick up heavy axes and other dropped weapons. And because those weapons are gone, many of the unique attacks, finishers, and takedown animations associated with them are gone too. These were not meaningless little details. They were part of what made Edward Kenway feel like Edward Kenway. In the original game, I could enter a fight bare-handed, disarm an enemy, take his weapon, kill another guard with it, throw it away, grab a musket, fire it, use that musket in melee combat, then switch to my Hidden Blades and continue fighting. That freedom was part of Black Flag's identity. Now I'm largely being told: use your swords. That is not an upgrade. And hearing that these features were considered a lower priority during development is extremely disappointing. This game is remaking a title from 2013. We've waited more than a decade. I would have gladly waited longer if it meant getting a complete remake that preserved the iconic mechanics of the original instead of cutting them to meet a release schedule. Ubisoft has said, "We can't make any promises [but] we're listening to the community." At this point, that statement rings hollow to me. If you're genuinely listening, then listen to the players asking for these mechanics to return. Don't just acknowledge the feedback. Please actually address it. Restore: • Selectable Hidden Blade combat • Selectable hand-to-hand/unarmed combat • Enemy disarming • Picking up dropped enemy weapons • Muskets as usable ranged AND melee weapons • Heavy weapons and axes • The unique combat and takedown animations associated with those weapons The frustrating thing is that underneath all of this, I LIKE Resynced. It looks incredible. There is clearly a huge amount of work here, and visually this is the Black Flag remake I wanted. But I cannot recommend a remake that removes this much combat freedom from the game it's supposed to be improving. For now, my review is NOT RECOMMENDED. If Ubisoft restores these iconic mechanics from the original Black Flag, I will gladly come back and change this review to Recommended. The foundation for an incredible remake is already here. Please finish it.

Resynced is not bad if you ignore the new added content. Going from the story you loved since 2013 with mocapped cutscenes and good dialogue, few tweaks here and there with missions and gameplay while having no modern day sequences (depends on the player tbh, for me personally I never cared for those). And then you move on to the brand new added content, which will make you feel insane cause it will remind you real quick how lazy and unoriginal modern ubisoft has become.

Don't buy this game at full price. It's *fine*. It's not a *bad* game. The gameplay is fun, they did a great job with that. But unless you're deaf, there's a significant problem with this game: the voice acting. Every Assassin's Creed release in the last decade, at least, has been guilty of neglecting the voice acting. It's not that the voice actors themselves are bad; on the contrary, they have done a great job. With what they were given. It's just clear that they were given very limited context when recording their lines, if any at all. I suspect they were just given a list of lines to speak and that's it. They often sound very weird in the context of the game, such as emphasizing the wrong word in a sentence. Or the voice being all happy when the situation is very dramatic. And it is VERY obvious that the actors are not in a room together. The dialogue is god-awful. Conversations flow horribly, there's zero chemistry between the voices, every other line sounds completely out of place. It's not *as* bad as some other recent titles, such as Odyssey, but holy fk is it obvious that they cut corners on the dialogue in this one also. It is very difficult to suspend your disbelief when every time you hear a voice, you are reminded that it's just a lone bloke in a recording studio reading lines off a piece of paper, without any context whatsoever. It's just baffling. The earlier Assassin's Creed titles were great at this. AC2 in in particular really made you feel something, it was like a movie. But this ..... it's frankly insulting. Not just to the customer, but to the voice actors. They deserved better than this. Don't buy this game at full price. Ubisoft doesn't deserve that. The disrespectful corporate decision makers should frankly be publicly shamed in the town square pillory, but lacking that, buying it only on sale will have to do. Again, the rest of the game is great. The graphics look wonderful even on my aging 2080. The combat is fun, both at sea and hand-to-hand. The devs themselves have done a fantastic job and i don't think i could ask any more of them. But jfc, Corporate made the voice acting absolutely terrible. I cringe all the time.

Leave this game, Johnny, leave it.

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag is my favorite video game. It's sad that this remake keeps me saying "Why'd they remove this?" This game feels like they made a remake with the intention of pissing off the original fanbase. The world is incredible. Very good detail. Runs great on my PC. Underwater scene-scapes are really nice. This is not really an accomplishment. Good graphics were impressive in 2010 It holds true (kinda)to the classic story wise. The new missions leading up to Thatch's death is less climactic and made me feel like they left tons of crap out. It's kind of cool to see these characters in different "memories", but I feel like I would have been happier if they just remade the original. The new missions and dialogue are kind of fun and interesting. But some are lame and undeveloped. It really feels lazy. The templar key hunt missions, and a lot of other missions are different but not game breaking. I've beaten this game on the 360 and the xbox-one several times and recently I've beaten it on steam (130 hours). I'm not an AC lightweight, but in this instance I feel like I'm playing a game that's not really an Assassin's game, nor was it made for me, or anyone really.... It was just made. The environment and the parkour movement for me is the highlight of this remake, but only if you're in a town. They were so close to nailing the parkour... Pressing A, X, to jump is so much more responsive than before. It feels like you have more control over Edward, until you meet literally any obstacle that's not a house, building, castle, etc. Natural formations are almost un-climbable, as opposed to AC3 which let you pretty much climb whatever you could see until you hit the edge of the map. Moving into tree positions is clunky. You can't jump out of the water and grab things correctly. Edward can't really even climb a simple boulder. It's ridiculous. The hindering of these things makes the game feel more linear, when this game is about open exploration. I'm not really pissed off about the lack of boobs in the game, but when I see a brothel on my island with 3 sluts out front, they should not all be wearing ankle long dresses with no boobs...... WTF is this? I mean seriously. It's a brothel in the Caribbean with 100 degree weather. Of course they're going to show skin. AC Origins has ladies walking around tits out, and no one made] made a stink because it was "culturally accurate".... F Off. As far as the combat is concerned, they have changed everything you know about combat in a pre Valhalla AC game. And there were so many simple things that were removed to piss you off... They took away chain assassinations. The most I've been able to do was 3 in a row. Equiping and aiming your firearm or the blow dart gun is absurdly clunky. You can't use muskets. When taking a ship, you need the range to kill the rifleman in the crows nest sometimes, This was normally done with a musket. Muskets were a thing in this game's predisessor, but now you don't even need to take a flag to beat a ship, so the rifleman is just there to piss you off. Muskets were also true to the period. I just don't get this. Killing and boarding ships is 70% of the gameplay in AC Black flag, so why do this? You cannot go unarmed, and you cannot switch to hidden blades only!!! Edward must use swords at all times....... this to me is AC blasphemy. Being an assassin in this game is what you'd expect, but waaaaay easier. It's laughable. 'hide in a bush. whistle. kill everything on the island undetected'. You can do this in major missions too. The weather system is incredible at times and very fun. I've had several ship battles where the weather helped me or ruined me. Good experiences in this game as far as the nautical battles. But, the weather is not really dynamic. I've sailed to places on the map where the weather instantly changed in 1 frame from sun to monsoon. It's ridiculous. Even if I'm close to a legendary ship, the world shouldn't just turn to fog in less than a second.... Windwaker had better weather. The pause menu is clogged with ads and nonsense and is annoying. It's been changed from most other AC games and it's not needed. It's insanely hard to find the map or save menu at first if you just press "Start" on your controller. Kenway's Fleet is now so dumb and retarded that I refused to even bother. I'll look at it later maybe if I get bored. It's too easy to make money in this game. The default audio to me was bad. I had to adjust it. I could not hear ambient sounds and the world music, which I enjoy more than the shantys sometimes. Hearing crashing waves and the original soundtrack for me was awesome, but now the world soundtrack is drowned out and mild. There's not a cool fiddle and hard drums pirate intro song when I boot the game. It doesn't need to be the same soundtrack, but again it feels like they didn't try very hard. The new menu is a weird memory portal with links to other AC title's that you might have purchased, and it makes me feel like I'm at the mall. Triumphant pirate music in the menu to me was a trademark of this game. They're giving us a few really good bites of medium rare ribeye, which we've eaten before, but denying us the whole steak: There are no leaderboards, and there are no stats. I can't see how many folks I've assassinated/killed and I cannot see how many ships I've destroyed. These stats are still running on a server for the regular version of Black Flag right now as of 7/23. Why not just run a similar leaderboard for the remake and include stats; why clog up the game with all this other BS in the menus about AC Shadows? My friends and I used to be able to compete via the global leaderboards on who was the best pirate or assassin. All gone now.... Being able to see how many kills you have in a video game is a simple video game mechanic that exists in 98 percent of video games that i own. This felt intentional. This is a game that I though was a lock. First game I've wasted money on in a long time. Shoulda waited for the inevitable sale on this game. Don't do it.

Leave her johnny leave her... The biggest thing for me is just the vibe. Everything feels so much nicer to play than the OG. The Caribbean is beautiful, the graphics are impressive as hell, and somehow the game is actually well optimized too. I can play this with RTX on, High settings and still stay above 60 FPS, which is something I really appreciate. Combat is also way more fun for me now. It actually feels like I’m fighting instead of just waiting to counter everyone. The new combat has more going on, even though I do miss being able to use the Hidden Blade in actual combat and picking up enemy weapons. The side content is another thing I enjoyed way more this time. Yeah, a lot of it is basically the same stuff from the original, but with the new visuals, animations and overall feel, it’s somehow way more satisfying to actually go out and do it. And THANK GOD the forced tailing missions aren’t as painful anymore. Getting spotted doesn’t instantly ruin everything, and you can just adapt and keep going. Definitely more beginner-friendly. I also personally don’t mind the modern-day sections being gone. I know some people loved that stuff, but I never really cared about it in Black Flag, so removing it actually made the game feel more focused to me. That said, I completely understand why OG fans would be pissed about it. My biggest complain is that certain things from the original were removed instead of being improved. But honestly? If someone told me they wanted to play Black Flag for the first time in 2026, I’d recommend Resynced over the OG without even thinking twice. It’s not perfect, and it definitely changes some things that didn’t need changing, but yk what they say? Leave her johnny leave her...!!! Hahaha

Assassin's Creed.

Maybe my expectations were wrong for the game. Yes it looks gorgeous, most if not all of the new implemented content is awesome. The game runs surprisingly well for my specs which I was not expecting. But too much content was removed for me to recommend this game. I miss having the outside the animus part of the game, and not having optional objectives for full sync in a mission is missed as well. They've removed unarmed combat, and the bar fights you get into have npcs saying voice lines that claimed you killed the person and didn't just knock them out. I also loved using hidden blade combat as well. Some animations switch too suddenly. You'll break an enemies guard and use the takedown mechanic, and your swords disappear into their sheath and you use the hidden blades to take them down. The new controls annoy me, not being able to use right trigger for sprint sucks, you can't shove people but using RT+B so now you can't fall over while free running through a crowd. Maybe my expectations were wrong, maybe I'm becoming a boomer. I stopped when AC Origins came out because of the new combat system. I loved AC 1-Syndicate. But to me, this isn't Assassin's Creed Black Flag. This is Ubisoft's Black Flag.

I was excited to revisit Edward and his adventures, and the game didn’t disappoint me, but there is the usual Ubisoft MTX and honestly – the fact they are not needed is one thing, but the cosmetics being not even related to the game is wild… Whatever, let’s move past that, no one is forcing us to buy these. There are some visual bugs, some of them pretty funny, others – annoying. Especially, ships teleporting around – it was common before and the fix was to reload your save. Not a big deal, but still not pleasant. The other thing that isn’t well made imo – playing on hard difficulty combined with the combat system. A lot of times I would press the parry button in time just for the game to completely ignore that and the bad guy would hit me anyways :D Maybe this is because of the difficulty setting, maybe not – in the end it’s just bad experience. The last not so good thing is that the new content screams “LOOK AT ME, THEY ADDED ME FOR THIS EDITION OF THE GAME AND EVERYONE CAN TELL!” Now to the good things – I enjoyed the game, Ubisoft couldn’t possibly botch the remaster of the cash cow. Despite the thing I mentioned above, the combat system is good enough. The game is beautiful, well optimized, and the ocean world is so pretty. In just under three weeks, I sank about 100 hours into the game, which shows how much I enjoyed it. The removal of the immersion breaking Abstergo storyline is a positive thing and adding the Animus Rifts is a good decision, too imo. In the end if you liked the original, you will like this one, too. Despite not being perfect, it still has that good pirate vibe and adventurous spirit. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3772836254💿 [Название]: Assassin's Creed: Black Flag (Resynced) 📅 [Дата релиза]: 9 июля 2026 год 🏢 [Студия]: Ubisoft ⚙️ [Движок]: Anvil Pipeline ⌛️ [Время прохождения]: ~40–60 часов ⚙️ [Тип]: Приключенческий экшен от третьего лица 🎭 [Жанр]: Историческая драма / Приключения 📖 [Сэттинг]: Вест-Индия, Карибский бассейн (XVIII век, Золотой век пиратства) 🌌 [Франшиза]: Assassin's Creed 👤 [Протагонист]: Эдвард Кенуэй 🦹 [Антагонист]: Вудс Роджерс, Бартоломео Роджерс, Лауреано Торрес 👍 [Что понравилось]: Неповторимый пиратский вайб свободы, хорошая переданная дуга характера Эдварда, бережное расширение лора деталями из официальной книги, крутая прокачка Большого Инагуа, потрясающая по своей зрелищности морская боёвка и сочный современный визуал.

One of the best remakes Ubisoft has made in years and I still can't recommend it I genuinely wish I could give Black Flag Resynced a positive review, because judged purely as a game, I absolutely would. The developers deserve enormous credit for what they've created here. Black Flag is one of those games many of us remember looking far better than it actually did because nostalgia fills in the gaps. Resynced somehow looks like the Black Flag I remember, rather than the Black Flag that actually existed. The Caribbean looks fantastic. Lighting, shadows, reflections and ray tracing can be gorgeous, especially at night, and the storms, sunsets and lantern-lit streets capture that romanticized pirate atmosphere incredibly well. Thankfully, it isn't just prettier graphics either. Combat, parrying, stealth and movement feel more modern without losing what made Black Flag special, and the game scales surprisingly well across older hardware too. There are bugs and technical issues, but underneath them is, in my opinion, one of the better remakes we've had in recent years. So to the programmers, artists, designers, animators and everyone else who actually built this game: Thank you. Seriously. You brought back something many of us loved without destroying its identity. Which makes the rest of this review even more frustrating. So why the negative review? Believe it or not, it's not even primarily because of Ubisoft's monetization. Do I like paying premium game prices while being offered cosmetics, convenience items and overpriced DLC, including things related to information on the map? No. But let's be honest: it's Ubisoft. I knew which publisher's game I was buying. What ultimately changed my recommendation was my experience with the Steam community surrounding this game and the way it is being moderated. I genuinely enjoy helping people with technical problems. Not everybody knows what VRAM is, why their frametimes are terrible or whether DLSS or FSR makes sense for their GPU. If I know the answer, I usually try to help. I've done that on Steam, Reddit and elsewhere for years, and it genuinely feels good when somebody eventually comes back with: "That fixed it. Thank you." After my experience in the Black Flag Resynced forum and from what I've read and heard from others, that motivation is basically gone. I received one temporary suspension over a response to somebody asking for technical help. But after that suspension expired, I received another suspension over a completely different comment that was essentially just technical troubleshooting about VRAM, DLSS/FSR, resolution and graphics settings. And it seems it isn't even an isolated case. It is happeneing to others as well, right now as you are reading this comment. Rather than turning this review into a novel, I've documented both suspensions, including the actual screenshots and the discussion around them here: Both suspensions, screenshots and the full discussion Don't take my word for it. Look at the screenshots and judge for yourself. There are people in that thread who disagree with me too. That's exactly why I'm linking it. Steam says Ubisoft. Ubisoft says Steam. I appealed. Steam Support told me the suspension was issued by the developer's moderation staff and sent me to Ubisoft. Ubisoft then sent me back to Steam. So: Steam → Ubisoft → Steam And the simplest question remains unanswered: What exactly did I do wrong? What makes this even harder to understand is the apparent inconsistency. I've seen much more serious behavior in the same forum, including accusations of pedophilia directed at another user, remain visible while the situation escalated before the thread was eventually locked by Steam support, beause Ubisoft mods would simply ignore it. Keep in mind, we are talking about accusations which can be life changing. Accusations which made people take their owns lives in the past. If you're interested, judge that case for yourself too: Example of the moderation inconsistency I'm referring to And from what I've personally seen, this is far from the only situation that has made me question how moderation is being applied. I'm not claiming some grand conspiracy. I don't know whether my own situation and other cases were selective moderation, retaliation, an overly broad interpretation of the rules or simply poor moderation. I can only show you what happened. If the rules are strict, fine. Apply them strictly but apply them consistently. If we broke a rule, tell us which one. That's all we asked for. The part that genuinely makes me sad The developers who made this remake had nothing to do with any of this. The people who created that gorgeous lighting, rebuilt the Caribbean and modernized the gameplay didn't decide how a Steam forum should be moderated. Yet their work is ultimately receiving a negative recommendation from me because of the customer experience surrounding it. And I hate that, because underneath all of this is a game I genuinely love. My solution at this point is simple: I won't participate in that forum anymore. Why spend my free time helping strangers troubleshoot their games if an ordinary technical reply can later become the basis for another suspension? That's not the fault of the users. Most of them have been great and genuinely appreciative. But the motivation is gone. A healthy community isn't built by a publisher alone. It's also built by players voluntarily giving their time to other players. Make those people feel unwelcome long enough and eventually they'll stop contributing. Final thoughts Ubisoft will happily take my money for the game, DLC and cosmetics. But when I ask why I was suspended over a technical troubleshooting comment, nobody seems able to give me a straight answer. Maybe somebody at Ubisoft will eventually look at this properly and prove me wrong. I genuinely hope they do. Because I don't want Ubisoft to fail. I want them to be better. I want the talented people who clearly poured enormous effort into this remake to have their work represented by a company and community experience worthy of it. I know one negative Steam review probably won't change anything. I'm one customer among millions. I don't have millions of followers, and there won't be some huge PR backlash because a few random Steam user feels unfairly treated. This review is simply my small form of protest. I'm not asking anyone to harass a moderator. I'm not asking anyone to review-bomb the game. I'm not even asking you to agree with me. The evidence and discussions are linked above. Look at them yourself. Read both sides. Make up your own mind. To the developers of Black Flag Resynced: You made something genuinely special. Thank you. I loved returning to Edward Kenway's Caribbean.

Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynced is a gorgeous reimagining of a video game that in my opinion didn't need a remake. Let me explain: Pros: Graphics - Obvious win here. The game is beautiful. Unbelivable detail all around and it shows in the level design and world design for AC Resynced. Black Flag never looked better. Not to mention the weather effects and naval exploration...all of it just hits perfectly from a visual standpoint. This is never where Ubisoft suffers. Gameplay - The gameplay overall is very solid in the remake. Sometimes you cannot escape the feeling that this feels like a reskinned AC Shadows with the way a lot of the combat works but for the most part that isn't a bad thing. AC resynced between the parry system and skills available to you make for a decently fun combat gameplay loop. I do wish the hits were more impactful but to be fair, he isn't exactly swinging around decent sized swords here. Naval And Gear Customization - This game features a immense level of ship customization and also gear and weapon customization as well. You will be busy equipping your ship with upgrades and testing out your capabilities against some massive 5 star ships. Its pretty fun and it sets Black Flag apart from other renditions of AC. Story - The story is Black Flag at its heart. Black Flag had one of the best AC stories by far and this is no different here. Naval Combat - I absolutely love black flags Naval combat. Sometimes its so brutal it makes you want to pull your hair out, but the physics are some of the greatest naval combat in gaming available today and it's really super fun to play and experiment with. Cons: Glitches and Bugs - Typical Ubisoft game, it is riddled with glitches and bugs. Some of these have been patched already but still, at release not shockingly the game has its issues in that regard and it's insane considering they basically copied their own homework and still had issues. Formulaic Design - Every Ubisoft game i tend to hit with this because for me their open world design has become so formulaic that every game nearly feels the same, even when they are remaking a older game. Censorship - The game does censor some aspects of the previous game (like the nude female statue for your ship for example). Its unbelivable that we live in a world where they are trying to sell video games to adults but apparently also want to be your mother and tell you what you are allowed to see or not see these days. Something as stupid as a front statue for your ship apparently is problematic. Its a small thing but ultimately its a trend that is stupid and insulting when the game is rated M and 18+ PEGI. Why do we have uncalled for censorship in games rated M? Makes no sense. Overall heres my stance on it: If you never played Black Flag and for some reason are just incapable at looking at a video game older than 5 years old, then play this game if you can handle everything else. If you are someone who doesnt mind a game with older graphics that still holds up till this day, then play the original and get the intended proper experience. Its cheaper by a long shot and just wait till this game is on super sale. Considering its a ubisoft game, it wont take very long for it to get there and the value will be way better at that point. Thanks for reading.
